    Q
Can Termidor be used for Brown Recluse spiders in a storage shed. How should it be applied ?
I have seen Brown Recluse spiders in my storage shed in my back yard. Would Termidor be the proper product and how should it be applied to the shed and the wood under the shed.
    A
Termidor SC can only be used around the exterior of structures to control spiders. We recommend you use Demon WP on the interior of your shed to control Brown recluse spiders. Demon WP does a fantastic job killing just about any spider that comes into contact with treated surfaces. Demon WP will also kill most other insects which will eliminate the spiders food source and make your home and property a less favorable hunting ground. Demon WP does not offer an instant knockdown and it can take several hours to a day for spiders to die after they come into contact with the dry residual. Please take a few minutes to read our article Brown Recluse Spider Control to learn how to make your property less favorable to this pest.

    Q
How does Termidor SC kill Drywood Termites?
After reading all I can on your site and others, about both Subterranean and Drywood termites, it seems apparent that the treament methods are different. How is Termidor used to treat for drywood termites? Also, which of these termites is more likely to emerge from ceilings?
    A
Drywood termites are all contained in a piece of wood.  They do not go back to the ground like subterranean termites.  For Termidor to work on Drywood termites, you have to drill directly into the piece of wood the termites are in and inject Termidor into the wood.  Termidor does not penetrate into wood, so you have to inject it into the center.  It has to touch the termites to work, but the benefit is that it only has to contact a few termites, and then they can pass it on to the rest of the colony.  Either drywoods or subterranean termites can emerge from a ceiling, but only drywood termites kick out little sand like, hard, droppings.  Subterranean termites do not.

    Q
    Effective life of Termidor SC
How is it that Termidor can last for decades in the soil around your foundation, but only a month in the inside of the wall cavity of your home? I could see how UV's might destroy topical treatments outdoors, but how so in wall cavities? Is it not suitable for spraying in-wall around plumbing penetrations? And if so, only active for a month?
    A
Termidor is made specifically to bond to soil in a way that allows it to last for 10+ years when applied to soil.  It is not however made to bond to wood or other surfaces.  While the residual may last for a few months when applied in wall voids, wood does not obviously have the chemical make up like dirt that the termidor product is looking for.  This allows it to break down quicker.  Termidor is meant just as  spot treatment where you have termite activity indoors.  Also, there is a big difference when you pour 4 gallons per 10 feet into a 6 inch deep trench around your home compared to spraying a small amount in a wall void.

    Q
Termidor in crawl space with block wall
I had a major termite company treat my house years ago with Termidor. The way they treated it was inside the crawl space they drilled holes in the center of each lower cinder block, then went around and injected the chemical in each block. No trenching was done anywhere. I wish to redo an application myself for prevention as it has been many years now. Is this a proper way to treat the perimeter, and if I redo this myself want kind of volume would I want to put in each block ?
    A

We would highly suggest trenching and treating instead of only treating inside the cinder block wall.  Termidor is meant to bond to soil and be applied into the ground.  It will not last very long just treating into the cinder block walls.  Cinder blocks are also very porous, so they will soak up a lot of the termidor and you might get a few months of protection instead of 10 years when applying it into the ground.

You should follow the instructions as outlined in our How To Do A Termite Treatment article to treat the exterior and underside of your crawl space.

    Q
I got a 20oz bottle of TERMIDOR from you for termites and notice on the label its also good for carpenter ants
YOU RECOMMEND cARPENTER ANT KIT #2 W/dOMINION 2l AS THE BEST FOR THE APPLICATION....ARE EITHER OK FOR A PREVENTION JOB?
    A
Both Termidor and Dominion work the same way and are great on ants.  We offer Dominion 2L in our carpenter ant kit mainly because it is cheaper than Termidor and many of our customers are looking for low cost alternatives.  Both products work great for carpenter ants.

    Q
Can I apply Termindor SC on areas that have been treated with a store bought ant control spray?
I've sprayed around the perimeter of my home with an ant spray from a hardware store. It provided temporary protection from the ants as some of them came back. Can I apply Termidor SC on these treated areas? Or do I have to wait a couple of weeks?
    A
If the ants are not being eliminated by the product you have down now and they don't seem to be avoiding the treated area there really shouldn't be a problem with applying Termidor SC right away. If you are finding some dead ants in the treated areas it would be best to wait a week or two so that the product that was already applied doesn't effect the non-repellency or the transfer factors of Termidor SC.

    Q
Is the Termidor application going to kill the ants? Should I re-apply since it rained several days later?
I discovered carpenter ants browsing around the stacked firewood logs. I suspect they might have a nest in one of them, but I didn't look for it. Anyway, I sprayed diluted Termidor around the logs to protect them - on the ground and on the bottom part of the logs. It rained on the third day of the application. My 2 questions are: 1)Is the Termidor application going to effectively kill the ants? 2) Should I re-apply since it rained several days later?
    A
Termidor SC should help eliminate any carpenter ants as long as they are crossing over the treated areas. As long as the Termidor had a chance to dry before it rained there is no need to reapply the product.

    Q
Will fruit from my fruit trees be safe to eat if I sprayed Termidor SC near them for ant control?
The flowerbeds have fruit trees that are 1-2 ft away from the cinder-block wall. I sprayed termidor SC to the base of the cinder-block wall to get rid of the trail of ants last year. Will my fruits from these fruit trees be safe to eat? I am a little concern now that the termindor solution might seep into the roots of these fruit trees
    A
As long as the Termidor SC application was not applied within the root-zone of the trees the fruit should be safe to eat. Termidor SC does not move through the soil and would not trans-locate anywhere, it would stay exactly where you placed it.

Should I spray the Termidor before they start coming inside or wait till I see them?
    A
You did not name an insect but in most cases the old saying 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" stands true. It is usually much easier to prevent insect infestations like using Termidor than to eliminate them once they start.

    Q
Can termidor be used on trees and plants to kill pests without harming the plants?
    A
Termidor is not labeled for use on trees and plants.  It is only labeled for use around your homes foundation for termites, ants, and other selected pests.  For treating lawn, turf, and ornamental plants, trees, and shrubs that do not contain anything edible, you should Talstar Insecticide.

    Q
To terminate subterranean termites use; Termidor or Tengard?
    A
Termidor is the number one product on the market for termites today and is the product of choice for subterranean termites. Termidor is completely undetectable by termites and once termites touch it they contact, ingest and spread the termiticide until it eliminates the entire colony and it will last for about 10 years in the soil. Tengard can be detected by termites and they will try to avoid the treated areas and it will only eliminate the termites that come into direct contact with treated areas. Tengard will last for about 5 years in the soil.

    Q
Am I required to keep pest control on my house?
My pest control company told me I have to keep pest control on my house, or I won't ever be able to sell it (without proof of constant pest control) but it is expensive and they never find termite activity. I know that is always subject to change, but isn't there a way I can do it myself and not suffer the consequences if I decide to sell? Thank you!
    A

We cannot answer that question for you.  You are definitely not required, however, if your state requires a termite letter at the time of closing, only professional companies can issue these letters and if you do not have an active contract with a company you will usually be forced to pay a large sum to have your house treated to get a clearance letter.  You should call your state Department of Agriculture which is usually the department that manages pest control companies and ask if your state is one that requires a termite closing letter when selling a house.

Termidor after my sprinklers were on?
I had termidor injected (8 feet deep by my exterminator) around 5 hours after my sprinklers were on. Was that a problem? I read somewhere that the soil should have been dry.
    A
No, it is not a problem.  Termidor is made to bond to the soil and if the soil is a little wet that is not an issue.  You should not apply Termidor while it is raining, but if the soil is a damp or wet it is not an issue.

    Q
What do I need to use just for preventative temite control?
We built our house 5 years ago and had it treated for termites then. We haven't done anything since then. What should we use for preventative termite control?
    A
Termidor SC (or Taurus SC the generic of Termidor SC) is our most popular choice for a termite preventative. Termidor will protect your home and eliminate almost any termite problem in less than 90 days. In addition, when used as an in-ground barrier treatment, Termidor will protect your home for over 10 years. Termidor is completely undetectable by termites and once termites touch it they contact, ingest and spread the termiticide until it eliminates the entire colony. Termidor controls all types of termites including subterranean, formosan, and drywood termites. Please take a few minutes to read our article How to do a termite treatment to learn how to perform your own barrier treatment.

    Q
What can I use for a carnivorous ant which attacks the soft tissue of trapped mice?
MY seasonal travel trailer's in the Adirondacks. I've had no problem eliminating the mice which have gained access to the trailer, but these ants appear between the time of the kill and the emptying of the trap.
    A
We are not sure what type of ants you have based on your description (most ants will eat dead animals as they need protein during certain times of the year) but using Termidor SC around the exterior of your structure should help eliminate them. Termidor is a non-repellent insecticide that also has a transfer effect. That means that ants cannot tell that the Termidor is there and will walk right over it and then pick the product up on their bodies and inadvertently carry it back to the colony. Then, through normal social interaction, the ants spread the Termidor and wipe out the colony. Termidor only needs to be applied two times per year and is effective for a wide variety of insects including ants, centipedes, roaches, spiders, silverfish, wasps and many other nuisance insects.

    Q
is it possible to mix termodor sc with quickset concrete to control insects outside
    A
You cannot mix Termidor SC with concrete for insect control. Termidor SC can be used in the soil under concrete or you can drill holes through the concrete to reach the soil but it cannot be mixed with the concrete itself. Please read the Termidor SC product label for a full listing of the ways Termidor SC can be used.

Does this Termidor SC work on bedbugs?
Does this product work for bedbugs? I was interested and have heard that this product is very effective, just not a 100% sure about the bedbugs if it will kill them off.
    A
Termidor SC is not labeled for bedbugs or for use indoors at all. We do not recommend using Termidor Sc for bedbugs as it has not been tested for bedbugs or for use indoors. We do carry a wide variety of products that are tested and labeled for bedbugs. Please see our BEDBUG PRODUCTS page or contact us for more advice 866-581-7378.
