Will Termidor treat moisture ants? How long will it take to get rid of all the ants including the colony?
We found moisture ants in attic above the garage. I am not sure if there are any more ants behind the dry wall. If I spray the area I could see, will the ants be killed eventually? How long will it take if that's the case? Thanks.

A

We do not know what species of ant you are referring to as there is no ant called a "moisture" ant and ALL ants are attracted to moisture and must have it to survive. Do you know the exact species? There are no known resistance species of ant to Termidor so it would work to kill any ant colony. However, Termidor can not be used in any indoor space unless you are doing a direct spot treatment in a regularly unaccessible area on the whole colony. If you see an area they are trailing you could try either Termidor Foam to use in the galleries you think they are hiding in as this form of termidor has a broader label in where it can be used; or you can try the Complete Ant Kit and use a bait that they would take back to feed to the colony. You will want to check around your home for where the ants could have come in to either seal off these areas or cut back any bushes and trees that touch the home and use a general barrier spray regularly to keep them away in the future. Talstar would be a great easy to use and safe option for a barrier spray.

What procedure do I use when concrete steps are in the way of drilling Termidor treatment holes?
Steps for entering house are in the way for drilling perimeter of concrete patio for Termidor. Is it okay to keep the recommended hole pattern and drill around the concrete steps. Steps protrude away from house 3 feet and this is the site of known termites.

The steps should be drilled as well to apply the Termidor SC if possible. We recommend that you drill the holes 10-12" apart and disperse 4 gallons of finished solution every 10 lineal feet.

What is the interior version of a Termidor to target ants?
I want to use the Slow contact Kill method Like a TERMIDOR Type product. ONLY for the ( Interior of a House ) what is the best INTERIOR ANT Residual hands down ? Wes~

A

Phantom Insecticide would be a good option for ants indoors. It is a non-repellent product like Termidor SC. It does have a different active ingredient, however, it is a very good product for interior and exterior use. The mixing ratio is 3 fl. oz. per gallon of water.

I've been using Termidor SC in one tank for about 5 years now, and there seems to be a rotten egg smell.
seems like it only does it at the start of each new job after the tank has set up overnight. maybe some of the product was left in the hose. is there anyone else complaining about this. thank you

We have never heard of any one reporting this smell. Perhaps their is a high sulfur content in the water you are using. We recommend making sure you triple rinse the tank and hoses after use.

What would be the best product to treat for white footed ants outdoors?

Baits do not normally work on White-Footed Ants so alternative methods will be needed. You will need to treat the lawn and any mounds you see with Talstar P. Spray the Talstar around window and door frames. Please review our detailed article on How to Get Rid of White Footed Ants for more information on eliminating them from your home. Termidor SC is effective against all ants. Termidor SC is the most effective ant treatment product available because it does not just kill the ants that come in contact with it, but it also kills the queen and the rest of the colony when the ant that first came in contact with the product returns to the colony. Be sure to use Termidor SC in a very clean hand pump sprayer. If you use a sprayer that still has remnants of other products in it, you could ruin the way Termidor SC works. It is applied only in a 1 ft by 1 ft band around the exterior of the structure (do not spray Talstar P to the same area).

If Termidor SC was sprayed on a rug, how long till I can use the rug in the house?
If the rug is on the floor, after it is dry, is it safe for pets to walk, lay on?

A

Termidor SC is not labeled to be sprayed on rugs or carpets. We would recommend disposing of the rug. If you choose not to dispose of the rug, you may contact the manufacturer for information on how to clean it so it can be used indoors again.

Treating around perforated tiled and white rocked perimeter.
As we were building our house about 3 years ago, the inspector suggested that we add a second perforated tile (there was already a French Drain 7-8ft deeper at the walk-out basement floor height) right next to the foundation just below the surface (4-12") and fill the whole area with white rock. I really don't want to dig all of this up to apply the Termidor. Can I just trench down into the white rock a few inches and apply the Termidor next to the foundation as usual or do I need to get all the way down to the dirt? If the Termidor worked it way into the perf tile, would it still be effective? The construction is 12" filled block on a mono-slab and there is about 8" of block exposed before any wood, so I think I would see any tunnels if termites were in the area.

Termidor SC is made to bind to soil molecules. When Termidor SC is put in the ground as a soil treatment, it will last for at least 10 years. Although, it is a little different when it is applied to porous surfaces such as rocks. Porous surfaces will actually absorbe the active ingredient meaning that it would only last a few months. Therefore, we would recommend that you remove the rocks and be sure to treat the soil below according to the label instructions.

Is Termidor SC safe for horses even after it dries?
We have two horses on our property that are stalled at night but out in the yard during the day grazing on the grass. We are able to separate the front and back yards if needed by closing the gates on our property. If we were to treat one half while keeping the horses on the other half, would this product be safe for the horses once it dries (say 3-4 days following the application)?

Termidor SC is only labeled to be used adjacent to a structure 1 to 2 feet up and out. It cannot be used in lawns nor can it be used where animals graze.

Termidor needs to be put into the ground give 10 years of protection. You may want to try drilling to get the Termidor into the ground so that it can bind with the soil. Please read our article Barrier and Soil termite treatment.

Can you use Termidor SC if you have a well?
We live in the country and have a well and septic system. Is this safe to use in this case. We found termites in our out building. How many bottles should we purchase?

The Termidor SC product label states that you cannot use Termidor SC closer than 5 feet from a well or cistern. The amount of product you will need will be dependent on the total linear footage you’re treating. One 20 ounce bottle will treat approximate 60 linear feet of trenching.

What to use outside for ants
We have these small ant like bugs in the bathroom. They are about the size of a PEN DOT. We have looked for intrusion but could not find anything. They are coming from outside. So we need a chemical that's powerful and waterproof. We live in Savannah

Termidor SC is the # 1 choice for ant control around the outside of your home. Termidor SC is a non-repellent insecticide that also has a transfer effect. That means that ants cannot tell that the Termidor SC is there and will walk right over it and then pick the product up on their bodies and inadvertantly carry it back to the colony, then through normal social interaction the ants spread the Termidor SC and wipe out the colony. Termidor SC only needs to be applied two times per year and is effective for a wide variety of insects including ants, centipedes, roaches, spiders, silverfish, wasps and many other nuisance insects.

The former owner sprayed Termidor on the yard more than 10 years ago. Is it safe to eat from the fruit trees in the area?

Termidor SC can stay in the ground for at least 10 years. We still do not recommend that you consume any edibles that have grown in the treated area.

Will Termidor uptake into plants and affect pollinators or other insects?
I plan to do a termite treatment around the house foundation were I have plants with flowers within a minimum of 2 ft of the treatment area. Once Termidor has dried and bound to the soil, will Termidor continue to uptake into the plant and harm the pollinator insects such at bees?

A

Termidor SC contains fipronil, which is not well absorbed by plants when it is applied to the soil. If fipronil does get into plants, it can partially break down, reducing any risk of translocating. According to the maufacturer, it is best to not apply Termidor within one foot of the drip line of edibles but does not mention ornamentals.

drilling every 10 to 12 inches in concrete doesnt this create a weak spot in your slab or a breaking point?

The 10 -12 inches spacing is the required amount to ensure that the drilling will not cause weakness in the concrete slab. You do not want to drill any more than 1/2 inch wide.

Is it true that Termidor is essentially ineffective on exposed wood (for termites) once it has dried?
Is there no residual benefit?

Termidor SC is formulated specifically to bond to soil molecules and will last for around 10 years when applied properly to soil. When applied to wood Termidor SC will last at most for about 6 weeks. Is replacing treated dirt to the trench better than replacing it with a drain sleeve filled with treated drain rock ??

It is more effective to treat the dirt and put dirt back into the trench.

Termites in Alder trees
I have termites in my Alder trees in So California. I purchased some Termidor SC from you guys. Should I mix and pour around the base of the infected tree or inject into tree limbs that already have died from termites? Help!

A

Termidor cannot be used in the manner you have described and is not labeled for use on trees as you described. Termites do not normally attack live, healthy trees so you most likely will not find any products that will work as a ground barrier around the trees. Most people are primarily concerned with protecting the big investment, their home, and Termidor would be the product to use for that. It is only labeled to be used adjacent to the structure though.
