    Q
Is Termidor SC harmful to bees or birds?
    A

Once Termidor SC has dried, it should not be harmful to people, pets or wildlife.  It can be toxic for bees if they come in contact with treated areas once it has dried.  To lessen this risk, apply in the morning or evening when bees are least active.  Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.

  • Asked by Travis from Granada Hills

    Q
How do I apply Termidor SC if there is concrete around my house ?
    A

If you are doing a trench application for termites and there is concrete surrounding the foundation, then holes will need to be drilled all around the home to properly apply the Termidor SC.  The holes need to be drilled every 10-12 inches apart, 18 inches in depth to reach the soil beneath the concrete and anywhere from 3/8 inch – ½ inch in diameter.  Please refer to our Termite Treatment Guide for a more in depth step by step on how to treat your home for subterranean termites.

  • Asked by David from Tacoma, Wa
    11/17/2018
    Q
Are there any temperature restrictions with Termidor SC?
I worked at a company that said we couldn't apply Termidor in weather under 55 degrees. That might have been a company policy. Are there any temperature restrictions beside the freezing threshold restriction, or even levels of temperature that make Termidor use more or less advantageous?
    A

The only temperature that effects Termidor SC is when it is below freezing.  Termidor SC should not be applied if the ground is below freezing, or it will not take hold

  • Asked by Luke from Middletown, Ct
    06/24/2015
    Q
    Termidor for active infestation
I have an active termite infestation. I can see the mud tubes where the termites are currently entering my house. They are in a crawl space area which I have access to, but it would be difficult to use the trench method because the space is so tight. Would it be reasonable to saturate the mud tubes and nearby soil with termidor as an immediate fix and then use bait stations around the perimeter of the house for long term treatment?
    A

We would recommend doing a trench treatment around your home for an active infestation of termites.  We have a helpful article on How to Get Rid of Termites that we recommend reviewing for the best advice.

Please be sure to read the product label of any insecticide you choose to use to get information on the needed personal protective safety gear you will need. In most situations it is recommended that you wear long pants, a long sleeved shirt, closed toe shoes with socks, chemical resistant gloves and goggles. In areas where ventilation is poor a manufacturer may recommend you wear a mask or a respirator. We have put together 2 different safety kits that will make selecting correct safety gear easier for you.

  • Asked by Darren from Dupo, Il
    07/03/2015
    Q
Active subterranian termites in the crawlspace
I have active subterranian termites in the crawl space. There are tubes going up the inside concrete wall of the crawl space. Should I knock the tubes down first before trenching and applying termidor sc along the crawl space wall, and can I apply termidor sc directly on the mud tubes on the concrete crawl space wall?
    A
Termidor SC can be used in a crawl space. You can knock the tubes out before trenching in the area. You will dig a 6 by 6 inch trench around the crawl space and pour 4 gallons per 10 lineal feet.

  • Asked by Harlan from Phoenix, Az

    Q
Can you double the strength of Termidor SC when treating for termites?
    A

No, Regardless of what treatment you are doing Termidor SC can only be mixed at .8 fl oz. per gallon of water. Termidor SC is a non-repellent, if you mix at a stronger strength than labeled you run the risk of taking away its non-repellent properties. Always mix at .8 oz to a gallon.

    Q
Can we trench around our raised bed vegetable garden with Termidor SC?
    A

Termidor SC should only be applied outside within 1 foot of a house or other structure. You also should not apply Termidor SC near edible plants. We would recommend to keep Termidor applications at least 10 feet from the garden.

  • Asked by Samuel from Columbus, Ms

    Q
Is Termidor SC good for fleas?
If so, how do I treat my dog kennel for fleas?
    A

While Termidor SC will kill fleas that contact it, we do not recommend for flea control. Termidor cannot be applied to all the areas needed to treat for fleas. We recommend to treat the kennel with the indoor/outdoor flea kit.

  • Asked by Will from Mobile
    05/01/2019
    Q
How do I use Termidor SC for a pier and beam home foundation?
    A

To apply Termidor SC to a home with a pier and beam foundation, you will need to trench around each pier.  You will need to trench around any point where a support for the home touches the home.  If the piers are hollow blocks you also have to drill a hole in each pier to treat the inside space where termites could potentially travel up without hitting the treated soil around the pier.

  • Asked by Eddie from Arnold, Ca
    10/04/2013
    Q
Can Termidor SC be sprayed on fire wood and is it safe to burn after treatment
    A
No, you would not want to burn any wood that has been treated with Termidor SC or any other insecticide. The manufacturers do not recommend this. Any insecticide should not be breathed in, and when burned these toxins can become airborne. It would be suggested to not burn the wood.  Termidor is only labeled to be applied adjacent to a structure, you could use a product like Dominion 2L to treat the soil around the firewood for subterranean termites but not physically on the wood itself.

Termidor SC cannot be used to spray open areas inside your home or in the crawl space. Termidor SC can only be used inside of wall voids for indoors use.

  • Asked by Scott from Harahan, La
    05/22/2014
    Q
What is the best way to get Termidor SC into the pre-existing holes in concrete around foundation.
Can I use a regular garden sprayer or will a funnel fitted into the existing holes serve the purpose. Or do I need some type of professional sprayer to insure complete coverage.
    A
Good news! Applying Termidor SC into drilled holes does not require a professional sprayer. You can apply it through a funner in each hole or use a pumpo sprayer to pump the solution in.

  • Asked by Randall from Montgomery, Tx
    07/24/2014
    Q
Will Termidor SC kill fire ants?
    A
Termidor SC is not a good option for fire ant control because it can only be used on or immediately adjacent to a structure, it is not labeled to be used out in the yard.  We recommend using a fire ant bait granule such as Advion Fire Ant Granules or Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Granules. Both of these are labeled specifically for fire ants and can be used out in the yard as a broadcast or mound treatment.

    11/01/2014
    Q
Why can Termidor only be applied twice per year?
    A
Termidor can only be applied 2 times per year due to Label and EPA regulations because Termidor has been shown to leach into the soil and can stay active in the soil for at least 10 years.

  • Asked by Mark from Harvey, La
    11/10/2014
    Q
Does Termidor SC kill/prevent formosan termites?
    A
Termidor SC will kill any termites that come into contact with the treated surfaces and will carry it back to their nests. Depending on where the termite infestation is will depend on how the Termidor will need to be applied to eliminate the colony and abide by the usage instructions on the label.

  • Asked by Rita from Mesa, Az
    01/12/2015
    Q
How do I get rid of indoor termites?
I have found through research that a rarely used Powder Room in our home has many termite (tunnels) hanging from the ceiling. At first they looked like little pin holes. Now they look like underground caverns. I desperately need to get rid of these and then move on to the large amount of tunnels around the outer perimeter of my 13 year old home. Help!!!!! I can not afford Professional Services.
    A
We would recommend that you apply a termite treatment in the soil surrounding the structure to form a continuous barrier that will kill and prevent subterranean termites from entering your home. A termite soil treatment will kill the termites that are inside of your home as well as the termite colony and queen that is outside of your home in the ground. Please read over our Subterranean Termite Treatment Guide for detailed treatment instructions. If you have further questions please call our customer service department at 866-581-7378.
