    Carpenter Ants but other Bugs
I plan on using this to take care of carpenter ants, but I also have Clover Mites, Spider, and Wasp issues (I live near woods). Once I apply this as a band around home, can I later on apply a general pest control product to the areas I have spiders, mites, and wasps or do I use this product for that and apply directly to them?
    A
Termidor SC is specifically labeled to be used around the perimeter of your home for various pests, including carpenter ants. We would recommend using a general pesticide such as Talstar P to control mites, spiders and wasps. This can be sprayed on trees, flowers, ornamentals, etc. It is not labeled to be sprayed on any type of edibles. This will work for at least 30 days outdoors.

    Q
What is best product to get rid of subterranean termites?
    A
Termidor SC is the top termite product on the market for treatment and prevention.. Termidor SC is completely undetectable by subterranean termites and once termites touch it they contact, ingest and spread the termiticide until it eliminates the entire colony and it will last for about 10 years in the soil.  You should perform a liquid termite treatment in the ground to get the termites where they are entering your house and for furture prevention.

    Q
Found some termite activity on some scrap wood in my crawl space?
Hi, I just finished one project with your help and products and now I have a new project. I'm looking at a rental property. I have done a very detailed inspection and can find no termite activity to the structure.....both in the home and under the home look great. When I lifted the plastic moisture barrier in the crawl space, I found some termite activity on some scrap pieces of wood lying on the dirt under the plastic sheeting. I don't see any dead bodies, wings, or alive termites......just this damage to a couple scraps left by the builders (home is 13 years old). How would I approach this project? I plan to order some more Termidor and treat the soil around the home and treat the soil around the pillers in the crawl space, just as an insurance policy...anything else at this point?
    A
You actually sound like you are already on the right track on knowing what to do.  You would apply in a trench with Termidor SC around the outside of the home  and around the pillars in the crawl space. Also inspect the home to ensure there is not an active infestation.  If an active infestation is located it would also be recommended to do the trench along the inside wall of the crawl space.

    Q
Can you use Termidor SC inside your house for flea control?
    A

Termidor SC cannot be applied indoors or for flea control. We do carry an Indoor Flea Kit that will be great for this application. You will vacuum daily (discarding the bag or emptying the canister after each use) and spray once every two weeks. It is highly recommended to make a minimum of two applications indoors but may require additional applications depending on the level of fleas.

    Q
I have very tiny ants popping up now and then in kitchen and bath maybe other places.
    A
We would recommend applying Termidor SC (1 ft up and 1 ft out) directly to the exterior of the home twice a year. Phantom would be a great choice for the indoor cracks and crevices. It will last inside for three months with the liquid formulation and one month for the aerosol.

    Q
Can Termidor SC be used in the attic of a home?
    A
Termidor can only be used in the attic of a home if it is being used to spot treat an active infestation within galleries in wood or within an inaccesible void that the pests are in. Otherwise Termidor is an outdoor use only product.

    Q
I am seeking carpenter ant control. I was told Termidor 1 foot out; 1 foot up.
Because I have pets, I am reluctant to go one foot out/one foot up. I used to use Ficam W, which seemed to work with just a tiny band sprayed around the foundation.
    A
Termidor SC is safe for pets if applied when they are not in the area. They can return once the treated surfaces are completely dry.

  • Asked by Dennis from Saugus Ma

    Q
How long does Termidor SC take to kill the colony?
I have carpenter ants coming and going into my house from the yard. And dust, traps and bait crystals don't seem to be working. The only thing that kills on contact is the sprays. I don't want to kill the workers if they are the ones bringing the poison into the nest. But I need to get into the nest to do the killing.
    A
The amount of time it will take Termidor SC to eliminate a colony of ants will depend on how large the colony is the begin with. It could take weeks. Termidor SC is a non-repellent insecticide that works with a delayed reaction amd also has a transfer effect. That means that ants cannot tell that the Termidor SC is there and will walk right over it and then pick the product up on their bodies and inadvertently carry it back to the colony, then through normal social interaction the ants spread the Termidor and wipe out the colony.

HELP... Will Spraying Termidor SC Directly on Active Drywall Termites Work
I purchased your Termidor SC in order to trench around outdoor slab, BUT I have since discovered that I have active drywood termites already in a wall Within 1 week I noticed they ate through a 6'x8' section of an interior solid 1" thick mahogany like wood!. I also found the exterior wall seam that they entered in from. There were no tunnels from the ground, only a big tunnel in this exterior wall gap. Based on the new kick-out pellets I have seen each day for the past several days, I expect to see LIVE ACTIVE termites when I remove this interior wall. I would like to spray all of these ACTIVE termites directly as I see them, any nests, and also drill studs and inject more Termidor SC in damaged studs. AFTERWARDS, I would like to take down this TEMPORARY plywood that has been covering my wall void and replace ALL damaged wood at that time. MY QUESTION IS, How long do you think I should wait before taking down my temporary plywood wall and replacing damaged studs? I want it to be enough time for the active termites that I sprayed to have carried the Termidor SC to the other termites. Do you think a week would be long enough? Finally, I would replace the damaged studs with pressure treated wood, AND also spray on some of your BoraCare to adjacent areas of wood that was not damaged. Do you think my plan of attack is good? Please let me know ASAP I am not sure if a couple of days mater or not at this point. Anything else I should consider doing? Thanks!
    A
First you want to open this area up and go ahead and treat with Termidor. Wait three months for the product to eradicate the colony and then replace the dry wall and wood. We also recommend to trench around the outside perimeter of your home to. Treating now, will help lower the chances that the termites will move to another area.

I am looking for someting that a wasp would bring back to the nest to distroy it.
I have nesst in the gutters and behind the house siding
    A
Termidor can be sprayed on the home and on the siding where wasp activity has been noticed. Termidor does not give a fast knockdown but it does transfer back to the nest to eliminate the other wasps inside the nest. You should see complete results within 1-3 weeks depedning on the size of the wasp colony when using Termidor.

    Q
Is Termidor SC safe for vinyl siding?
I have a huge spider problem (mostly cobwebs left over from their nighttime meals) that attracts bugs and becomes an unsightly mess around my porch ceiling. I have some Termidor left from foundation treatment during construction of my house and want to know if it will damage my vinyl siding if sprayed.
    A
Termidor SC should not stain surfaces that water itself wouldn't stain. If the siding is very old, you should test in an inconspicuous area to be sure no staining will occur.

    Q
Is it effective to spray Termidor along "inside boundary of crawl space"?
    A

We actually recommend, if possible, to apply Termidor in a trench inside the crawl space. You will use the same method as you do around the entire structure.

    Q
For Termidor SC, how log before or after a rain fall can I do my perimeter pour treatment?
My trenches are dug, approximately 6" x 6". I am waiting for a dry spell, but I want to know what would be the timing that works best for treatment. Is either before or after a rainfall?
    A

Your treatment should not be done within 24 to 48 hours of any rainfall for the best results. Your trench should be 6'' wide, 6'' deep and 10 linear feet along the structure with the Termidor. You can take a look at our site on How to Do a Termite Treatment to give you the proper application instructions for the best results.

    Q
Will Termidor SC kill house flies?
    A

Termidor SC is not labeled to eradicate house flies as it should be applied in the soil for a termite treatment and only on the exterior surface (1ft up and 1 ft out) directly up against the foundation for insects that crawl on top of the soil. For more information on treating house flies, please read the article below. Please let us know if you need anything else.

  • Asked by Samuel from Greenwich, Nj

    Q
Should I use Termidor SC to treat dirt in the crawl space under my kitchen floor?
I know that I have termites since they destroyed the joists and flooring in my kitchen, but what do I use to treat the dirt in the crawl space? I'll probably be buying Bora-Care to treat all of the wood that I can see under the crawl space.
    A

If you have subterranean termites, you should perform a termite trenching treatment outside the structure and in the crawl space in accordance with our Subterranean Termite Treatment Guide with a non-repellent termiticide such as Termidor SC. Just spraying insecticide on the surface of the dirt will not help and is not an approved or appropriate use.

    Q
What is an equivalent to Termidor SC that can be shipped to New York State?
I am looking for the best pesticide for spraying around the perimeter of the house to eliminate ants in upstate NY.
    A

Unfortunately, there really is not a product that has the same active ingredient as Termidor SC for ant control that we are able to ship to New York.  An excellent non-repellent insecticide for ant control in New York is Arilon Insecticide.

  • Asked by Paul from Haslet, Tx

    Q
Can I apply Termidor SC direct to the soil with an injector rod at every 8 inches or so?
Where I cannot dig a trench due to various reasons. Would the Termidor work if applied with an injection rod directly into the soil, say every 10 inches and apply a half gallon of solution at those intervals.
    A

Termidor SC is best applied in the trench as this is the most continuous application method. There are places all over the BASF Termidor product label, which clearly state that rodding alone is not sufficient, no matter what applicator tool used, to treat a home for termites. You can either do a 6x6 trench around the foundation, or a 6x6 trench with rodding used additionally every 12 inches through the trench at a depth not to exceed the footing of the home. If you just cannot trench the area you may also consider the bait stations as an alternative. You can also refer to our How To Do A Termite Treatment article for treating your home yourself.

  • Asked by Lh from Wauchula, Florida
    05/15/2016
    Q
When using one of the two foaming agents that you sell along with Termidor SC, how is the foam generated?
Is the foam generated by the chemical activity of the foaming agent when mixed with water or Termidor SC? Or is the foam generated by the activity of the pump up foamsprayer and it's nozzle?
    A

When applying Termidor SC as a foam, it is both the chemistry of the foaming agent and the pressurized application from the foaming equipment that generate the foam, so we must have both of these components to create a foam from a liquid insecticide concentrate.
