Mitchell from Indiana writes

The ants are dying before getting back to the colony.

I noticed quite a few carpenter ants again so I pulled out the bait I purchased last year. I noticed a bunch of dead ants all over my floor. If they aren't dead, they are just about there. Why would they be dying before they get back to the colony?

Answer:

Great question! Ant colonies send out different types of ants to forage. They will send out the oldest and weakest to gather food and they will send out their soldiers to protect the foragers. It is normal for some of the ants to succumb quickly to baits like the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait while others are healthy enough to make it back to the colony. As long as the bait is being consumed, it is working and you will see results soon.
