    Q
I plan on using your Timbor to treat new residence approx. 10,000 sq ft. plus trusses.
Can I use an airless sprayer or other type mechanical spray that can be rented for about 50 to 75 gallons plus high hard to reach attic? Your suggestion please.
    A
We do not see why you could not use Timbor in a mechanical sprayer. Please feel free to contact Nisus at 800-264-0870 to make sure there product will work in the type of sprayer you are looking at.

  • Asked by Louise from Gilford, Nh
    10/17/2013
    Q
Can Timbor be applied with a sponge or hand-pump sprayer?
I have a small cellar and would like to apply Timbor to the ceiling without having to buy or rent a tank and hose sprayer. Thank you.
    A
Timbor can be applied with a paint brush or a gallon pump sprayer. To create a 15% solution, mix 1.5 pounds of Timbor to one gallon of water. This solution ratio ensures that only one application needs to be performed. Please be sure to read the Timbor Product Label before use for complete instructions.

Where can I buy Borate or Tim-Bor in Canada(Hamilton,ON)

    A

We apologize but we do not know of anywhere in Canada that carries the products we do.  Many of our Canadian customers will have a product shipped to someone in the United States that they happen to know like a friend or family member, and they they forward it onto Canada. We do offer FREE shipping within the US.

  • Asked by Kevin from California
    07/23/2013
    Q
Will Timbor leave a residue? Bora Care left a glycol residue on all non porous surfaces, i.e metal, wiring, etc
It even left a residue on concrete. It took quite a bit of cleaning. If I switch to Timbor, this residue will not show up. Is this correct?
    A
Timbor leaves a white powder on the surface and is more difficult to paint or stain over.  BoraCare tends to only leave a residue if not mixed well with warm/hot water.

  • Asked by Robert from Huntington,tx
    07/16/2013
    Q
Can Timbor be mixed with propylene glycol?
Can this product be mixed with a 50/50 water and propylene glycol solution, as a cheaper alternative to BoraCare?
    A
Timbor is not labeled to be mixed with propylene glycol, therefore we cannot recommend to mix. We do strongly stand behind Boracare as a raw wood treatment and preventative. Please contact us at 866-581-7378 for further information.

  • Asked by Jeri from Riverside, Ca 92506

    Q
Timbor was recommended to us to treat wood that is exposed to rain and has rotted.
We were told it is a water repellent that causes water to crystalize. We plan to trim the wood beam back, and prime and paint also. If Timbor does not do this, is there a Boron mineral solution that would? what is your recommendation
    A
Timbor should only be used on raw wood that ideally is new. Timbor is not water repellant and it will not take care of any rot or mold on the wood. Timbor will only penetrate 1/4 of an inch into the wood and will leave a visible white residue on the surface. Boracare or Boracare with Mold Care would be your best options. As with Timbor, the Boracare will need to be applied to raw natural wood but it can be old or new. The Boracare will penetrate all the way into the wood and will not leave a visible residue on the surface. If the wood is going to continue to be exposed to the outdoor elements, you will need to seal it with a stain or finish of some sort to protect it. If you do this, the Boracare will last for the life of the wood. Boracare will treat and prevent (depending on the rate you use to dilute it) for wood destroying insects such as powderpost beetles, termites, and carpenter ants, as well as wood destroying fungus/rot. The Boracare with Mold Care will cover all of these same preventative measures and it also kills and prevents mold. Please take a look at the Boracare product label for exact instructions for use. • Asked by Angela from Toronto, Ontario
    05/14/2013
    Q
How long after spraying raw ash floors with Timbor can I sand and stain them?
    A
If you were to sand after application of Timbor it could remove the Timbor as Timbor only penetrates approx. 1/4 inch into the wood. We would recommend Boracare as a wood treatment as it will penetrate up to 4 inches into the wood. With both products it is safe to stain after the treated areas have dried.

    03/27/2013
    Q
Can Timbor also be used to treat black mold growing on wood surfaces?
    A
Timbor is not labeled to treat mold at all and will not work for this use. Boracare with Moldcare is the only product that we carry for treating mold on bare wood. Boracare with Moldcare will kill the mold spore but you will need to use a product such as Mold-Clean prior to apply Boracare with Moldcare to remove the mold stain.

    Q
Replacing bridge timbers. What would be best to use? This product not to be exposed to rain?
    A
Timbor is meant to be used on indoor areas that will not be exposed to the elements. Boracare would be a better choice for bridge timbers but the wood must be sealed after the application with paint, stain or wood sealer.

    Q
Is timbor effective at killing silverfish? Also,is it ok to paint over plywood after treatment with timbor?
I asked about silverfish because after spraying the cracks of my garage framing,I noticed the silverfish running out of the cracks.
    A
Timbor is not actually labeled for silverfish though it may actually eliminate silverfish that come into contact with treated areas. Any primer or paint can be applied to Timbor treated wood as long as the Timbor application is completely dry to the touch.

  • Asked by Rob from Brevard, Nc
    01/07/2012
    Q
How long does it take Timbor to kill the bugs that have infected my wood? It will be used to build furniture.
    A
Depending on thickness of the wood, Timbor can take up to 30 days or more to completely kill the insects inside the wood.  However, it will only kill beetles that are active since Timbor kills the insects when they eat the wood, they ingest the Timbor at the same time.  Beetles can remain dormant for years, and so if some beetles are dormant now, they will not die.  They will not die until they become active and begin eating again.

  • Asked by Karl from Arlee, Montana
    09/26/2011
    Q
To stop existing wood rot, will flooding it with Tim-Bor stop it or must I use Bora-care?
Do you have a product that treats fence posts?
    A
Bora-Care is the best product for treating wood by far.  If you have existing wood rot then you definitely want to apply Bora-Care because it penetrates deeper than Timbor and will have a better chance at stopping the progression of the wood rot.

    Q
I was taught to use Timbor for roach and German roach control, any guarantee that it works for these pests?
    A

No. Timbor is not labeled for roach control and would not be the best choice for this type of application. If you have a current infestation of roaches we recommend the products that come in our Roach Control Kit. The products in the Roach Control Kit are perfect for most roach control problems in most indoor settings. This professional kit includes Cyzmic CS Insecticide for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc.  Advion Roach Bait Gel--one of the best roach baits on the market. Advion can be applied up high in the kitchen in the corner of cabinets and in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. The bait contains a slow-acting poison that attracts and kills feeding roaches, who also spread the bait to other roaches by contact or by sharing food. Finally,  Gentrol Point Source stations provide an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) that will stop roaches from laying eggs, helping to halt the infestation. The combination of an IGR with roach bait is a highly effective roach control strategy that is widely used by pest control professionals.

  • Asked by Jose
    04/10/2011
    Q
How much Timbor should I spray over the wood to be treated is enough? Can I apply either too much or too little?
    A
You only need to apply the Timbor solution so the wood is wet.  You should not apply the product so it starts to drip and runoff, that is too much.  Just enough to wet the surface and evenly coat all exposed sides of the wood, like you are spray painting it.
