Timbor and Bora-Care are not labeled for carpenter bees.
For carpenter bees, we would recommend using our Carpenter Bee Kit. It has everything inside of it to do a complete treatment for bees.
Please also check out our Carpenter Bee Guide for wonderful tips on how to treat and prevent them in the future.
Timbor will not kill any actively growing mold. It is a wettable powder for prevention of wood boring insects and fungi, that leaves a white residue on wood surfaces after it is applied and would not wash off wood surfaces. If you were to sand after application of Timbor it could remove the Timbor as it only penetrates approx. 1/4 inch into the wood. Since the product would not penetrate walls, you can remove from those surfaces using a wash cloth and water.
Timbor is only designed to be applied to wood and does not treat mildew/mold. We would not recommend applying it to canvas.
Timbor should be used or discarded within 24 hours after being mixed with water.
Timbor is not labeled to be used in this manner, and we can make no recommendations on this usage. Should you have any further questions feel free to contact the product manufacturer, Nisus, directly at 800-264-0870.
Yes you can use the dip method when using Timbor however, you will still be getting the same 15% solution rate as you would if you were spraying it on and getting the same 1/16" penetration level as well. To get the full penetration all the way through the wood we recommend using Boracare. Yes, you would want to get the surface powder left behind by the Timbor off the wood before using any finishing products.
We would not recommend using a borate product such as Timbor or Boracare on the leaves since the product could potentially damage the leaves. These products are designed to be used on sturdier cellulosic materials such as wooden beams and slats. If you are not able to replace the infested branches, then you would likely need to have a professional company fumigate the structure.
It is recommended that you use a sealant or paint on the wood treated with Timbor. This will seal the product into the wood so that it will last for the life of the wood. It is not necessary to paint or use a sealant though.
Timbor is an insecticide so it should have no effect on vegetation or weeds. You may want to check out the Herbicides & Weed Killers section of our website.
Timbor is safe around wildlife and/or pets when it is used as directed. While you are doing a treatment, it is recommended that pets/wildlife out of the area until the product has dried completely. It should also not be used directly in sitting water. Timbor is used around structural wood so it should not come in contact with wildlife or pets.
Timbor can be applied to raw wood for the interior walls. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions. If the wood will remain exposed as decorative structural wood, then you may want to use Boracare instead of Timbor; Timbor sometimes will dry with a visibly white texture that may not be as appealing in living spaces. It is also much easier to apply stain, paint, or sealant after applying Boracare.
You could potentially use the same sprayer to apply Timbor and Termidor SC if it were cleaned and allowed to dry completely between product uses. It is best to use a dedicated sprayer to apply non-repellent insecticides such as Termidor SC to avoid contaminating the insecticide. You could also use a tank cleaner such as Neutralize Spray Tank Cleaner and Neutralizer to reduce the risk of contaminating products.
Timbor is actually odorless so you don't necessarily have to wear a protective mask but if you desire to do so anyway, we would recommend using an N95 Valved Respiratory Mask.
Yes, it is recommended that you use a finish and/or sealant after using Timbor. It will potentially dry with a texture so you may have to sand it first.
Timbor should only be mixed and applied according to the product label. Because of the formulation, the Timbor solution would most likely clog any type of small applicator you would try to use. Jecta is a ready-to-use borate wood treatment that can be applied to specific areas.
Timbor is a wettable powder and as such is not labeled to be fogged. Timbor will clog all foggers because it never truly goes into a solution but instead just goes into a suspension. Please take a few minutes to read the Timbor product label so you can see all of the ways it is labeled to be applied. Please provide additional information on the targeted insect so that we can assist you further. We are always happy to help!
Timbor may leave behind a white residue. If you think it may come into contact with the windows or hand rails while you are applying it, it would be best to cover them just to be safe.
The dry time for Timbor honestly is dependent on the ability of the wood to aborb the product and how heavy you treat. It could be a few hours before the surface of the wood is dry or even a day.
