    Q
Will T-Nex slow vertical growth but help horizonal growth of St. Augustine?
    A

Yes, you can use T-Nex Plant Growth Regulator to encourage horizontal growth and density while reducing verticle growth of St. Augustine turfgrass. For St. Augustine in Texas, you should use 4.5 oz per 1000 sq ft. This rate will result in approximately 50 percent growth reduction over 4 weeks. You may need to reduce rates during periods of stress on the turfgrass. Please be sure you review the full product label before applying this product.

    Q
Can T-Nex Plant Growth Regulator be used on shrubs? If so, what is the application rate?
    A

No, T-Nex Plant Growth Regulator is not labeled for use on shrubs. An alternative product would be Atrimmec Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) as this product can be used on Hedges, shrubs, trees and groundcovers to slow unwanted growth.

Please refer to the Foliar Sprays For Growth Regulation (shrubs, hedges, and groundcovers)Section and Table 1 on page 2 of the product label for a list of tolerant ornamentals, shrubs, etc that are safe for application as well as the recommended mix rates. On hedges, shrubs and groundcovers one gallon of spray solution covers 400 to 600 square feet.

    Q
Can T-Nex Plant Growth Regulator be mixed with Propiconazole 14.3?
    A

You could potentially mix a PGR such as T-Nex Plant Growth Regulator with a fungicide like Propiconazole. Be sure you are using the correct application rates for both. We also always recommend a small jar test first to check compatibility before mixing a larger tank. Also be sure there is good agitation if you are using a larger capacity sprayer.

    Q
Post germination time frame with T-Nex Plant Growth Regulator
How soon after seed germination is it ok to apply TNEX on Arden 15 Bermudagrass? Lawn has filled in 90-95% and I'm currently in week 9.
    A

Since TNex works through the foliage you would want to make sure that the grass is fully established before using on newly seed turfgrass.  Mowing at least 2-3 after seeding before applying would be best and using lower rates to start.

    Q
Can T-Nex Plant Growth Regulator be mixed with TZone and spray same time?
    A

We do not recommend applying herbcides at the same time as a turf growth regulator such as T-Nex because this may put too much stress on the turfgrass at one time. Per the product label: "Because some herbicides can injure turf, test tank mixes with Quali-Pro T-Nex on a small scale before widespread use. See the directions for testing in the TANK MIX COMPATIBILITY TEST section."

TZone Herbicide, in particular, already has multiple active ingredients that can be pretty harsh on the turfgrass, so we would not apply these products together unless you have first tested a small area for compatibility and turf tolerance.

  • Asked by Kim from Palestine Texas

    Q
Is there a maximum soil temperature to apply T-Nex Plant Growth Regulator?
My soil temp is 96 degrees, I am wondering if that is to hot to apply this.
    A

There not a specific temperature restriction for T-Nex Plant Growth Regulator only that it should be applied when the turf is actively growing. Generally that is when you are still mowing the lawn.

Lower rates should be used when when turf is going dormant due to high or low temperatures, or lack of moisture.

  • Asked by William from Omaha, Ne
    10/12/2021
    Q
How soon after seed germination can I apply T-Nex plant growth regulator?
Mostly KBG existing lawn. Used T-Nex on September 6th. Mowed at 1.5" and overseeded September 10th. Good germination on September 16th. New grass is as tall or taller than existing grass as of October 12th. How soon after germination can I apply more T-Nex?
    A

The T-Nex Plant Growth Regulator can be applied now based on the timeline you have given for your seeding and mowing, and the height its currently at. Once your new grass gets to the height of the existing grass and you've mowed it to where they are pretty even, you can put the T-nex on the lawn without any issue and it will give the result you are looking for from the lawn.
