    What bait do you recommend for red squirrels when using the T-Rex Rat Trap?
    I'm planning to use the traps with the Aegis bait station to trap red squirrels. My plan was to use peanut butter but I'm seeing that isn't recommended.

    Typically bird seed or nut meats do a great job at attracting squirrels.

    There is rust on the springs and the trip plate doesn't seem as sensitive. .. do i need to replace the trap

    If the Trapper T-Rex Rat Trap is still functioning, it should be okay to keep using. However, if the trap is damaged, it would be best to go ahead and replace the trap.

    Why doesn't the kill smell (like rotting tissue) cause the next animal to avoid the reset trap?
    A

    Rodents are extremely neophobic & sensitive to smells. Any smell including the smell of death will detour them, which is why we always advise to wear gloves while handling things to control them. You are able to use DSV to disinfect the trap.
