T Rex Rat Trap - Could be improved
By John on 04/20/2010
I bought a 12 pack of this trap. The good thing is that they are very easy to set and to release. There are two serious problems. 1 - As others have mentioned, the striking force is much less than a normal old fashioned trap. I have already had one case of a rat suffering, not dead, even though he was trapped by the head. 2 - The quality is not acceptable. After one use two traps broke. One broke its plastic catch and one broke at the plastic hinge area.

Did not invent a better trap
By Bryan on 11/08/2014
I have "killed" 3 large rats with this trap. That is the good news. Bad news, none of them died because of the trap. I had to kill them by hand. It's not strong enough. 2/3 rats dragged the trap at least 20 feet from where it had been set and the only reason they stopped was because it got stuck. Do yourself a favor and buy the old-fashion wood traps. They work much better.

Fierce looking trap, but no rat.
By Gunnha on 10/29/2014
I found my back porch full of rat droppings and bought 3 of these T-Rex's. After cleaning out the porch, set the traps with peanut butter, I waited. All 3 traps got tripped in the morning, but no rats. Waited again, again, and again. 2 weeks now, and every night the traps got sprung. Still no rats. The only good thing is that the rats don't seem to hang around after setting off the traps (the traps make a hell of a bang) and I have a lot less rat droppings to wash off. For that I gave T-Rex the extra star.

T-Rex Rat Trap
By Robert on 03/27/2011
I had these traps for two weeks and haven't trapped a rat yet. Changed bait in the traps and put them in different places, nothing. The old conventional trap that has a spring bar has trapped four rats using the same bait. Why doesn't the new ones work, I do not know. Will keep using them and hopefully they will trap a rat. Any help please.

not really sure
By F on 10/06/2014
Pro: its not sensitive like the original wood traps where I think im going to rip a finger off trying to set it up. Very easy to use No metallic smell which im told is good Con: so im not sure if they had nyc rodents in mind when making this. It must not be a bad product because it did catch the rodents but now the problem was it never caught them "dead". Every rodent ive caught had a bout 2-3 traps on itself. One on his tail, feets, side belly?? It was odd yet funny and then felt miserable that the thing was still alive. Overall I have to say the wood trap is you best bet. Just use proper bait and sesame oil of some sort of fragrance to conceal the smell of metallic parts.
