Should you live in a multi-unit dwelling and one of your neigbors has had a bed bug infestation or issue, it would be wise to treat your area well just to be on the pre-cautionary side because they do harbor in the wall voids. So they can migrate over from another unit that shares those wall voids.
The manufacturer advises to place Trappit BB Detector traps in areas where bed bug activity has been observed or is suspected to determine if and where infestations exist and to monitor treatments. There is no stated range on square footage of coverage area.
