Armyworms can destroy a yard fast if they are not eliminated at the first sign of infestation.
Before treating for them, inspect your lawn to see if they are the cause of the damage you've found.
You can check your lawn for army worms in the daytime by performing a Soap Flush test. The best time to do this is in the late summer or early fall, when they are most active.
Simply add three tablespoons of soap to one gallon of water in a bucket or gallon jug.
Pour the soapy solution over a three-foot square area that shows damage or dormant grass, and wait a few minutes.
If army worms are present, they will start to emerge from the soil. Now that you have spotted the armyworms, treatment can begin as soon as possible.
