I've read some Q&A's to NOT apply MSM Turf Herbicide to bermuda during spring transition but other sources specifically recommend it's use to kill overseeded rye grass to aid in the spring transition of the Bermuda. If I wait until after the bermuda goes through the spring green up, the temperatures are going to be 90 degrees in Dallas, Tx and the winter rye is going to die off anyways? Can you clarify, as this is what I'd like to use it for.
If the bermuda is dormant right now, then you can apply MSM Turf Herbicide to kill off winter ryegrass. If the bermuda is transitioning out of dormancy and in the early stages of spring green up then applying MSM Turf Herbicide is not recommended as this is when the bermuda is in it’s most fragile state. . You would use between 0.5 to 1 oz per acre for rye control in bermuda. This comes out to about 0.0227 oz per 1000 sq/ft in 1-2 gallons of water.
