What is the best way to kill fleas inside the home where they could be on the carpet?

What is the best way to kill fleas inside the home where they could be on the carpet? I am use to using Talstar P. Could it be used as a mist spray on carpets? What would you consider for fleas on carpets?

Answer:

Talstar P is not labeled for use as a broadcast spray over carpets. Talstar P can only be used as a crack and crevice application indoors. Precor 2000 or Ultracide would be a good choice for indoor carpeted areas. Precor 2000 and Ultracide come ready to use, no mixing or equipment is needed and they contain both an insecticide for a quick knock down of biting adults and an insect growth regulator for control of developing flea eggs and larvae. Infested areas should be thoroughly vacuumed prior to product applications to help remove as much flea eggs, larvae and debris as possible and also to help stimulate larvae to change stages and come into contact with the product. You should continue to vacuum at least every other day for the next two weeks. Pets should be treated for fleas as well as the areas they spend a lot of time such as pet bed, kennels, carriers, couches, and moist shady areas where they spend time outside. Talstar P can be used with the addition of an insect growth regulator such as Martins IGR for flea control outdoors.
