How Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray Works

Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray kills Fleas and Ticks. It contains a unique combination of ingredients that kills both adult and pre-adult (larvae) fleas. Precor 2000 Plus prevents reinfestation and flea build-up for 7 months. Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray reaches fleas hidden in carpets, rugs, drapes, upholstery, pet bedding and floor cracks. It doesn’t leave bad smells, stains or sticky mess. One can covers 2,000 square feet. 16 oz.

For Fleas: Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray contains Permethrin and Phenothrin to kill adult fleas fast. It also contains Methoprene (an insect growth regulator) to prevent reinfestation for up to seven months. Methoprene penetrates deep into the base of carpet and upholstery fibers, where pre-adult fleas live and targets fleas in the egg and larval stages of development, preventing them from producing new infestations of breeding, biting adults.

While the insect growth regulator in Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray will continue to work for up to 7 months, it is recommended to re-apply Precor 2000 after 14 days if new fleas continue to emerge.  This will increase knock-down of new adults.  Preparations and cleaning such as vacuuming thoroughly before and after treatments will also greatly affect the success of Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray.  See below for complete treatment instructions.

Precor 2000 Plus Target Pests

Active infestations of fleas and ticks and preventative treatment of flea infestations.

PESTS CONTROLLED WITH PRECOR 2000 PLUS PREMISE SPRAY: Adult fleas, hatching flea eggs, flea larvae, and ticks

Target Uses of Precor 2000 Plus Spray

Use Precor 2000 Plus to kill adult fleas, hatching flea eggs, flea larva, and ticks in residential and commercial or industrial buildings, particularly in carpeted areas, on upholstered furniture, concrete flooring, and other pet resting areas.  Precor 2000 Plus provides up to 210 days of protection by preventing hatching eggs from developing into biting fleas.  Precor 2000 Plus is ideal when treatment is limited to a few areas and/or the convenience of an aerosol ready-to-use product is desired.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Methoprene 0.085%, Permethrin 0.35%, Phenothrin 0.3%, PBO (synergist) 1.4%

Application Instructions

How do I use Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray to treat for fleas?

  1. Identify treatment areas: especially those where pets frequent, such as in and around pet's sleeping and resting areas. These are the primary areas where fleas, their eggs, and ticks are found. (Before treatment, a test application should be made to upholstery, drapery, light-colored, delicate fabrics, or wood surfaces in an inconspicuous place.)
  2. Prepare treatment areas: For best results with Surface/Carpet treatments, vacuum thoroughly before spraying and discard vacuum bag in outside trash. (This product may also be used for infested surfaces inside motor vehicles.)
  3. Apply treatment. For flea/tick infestations, a single can treats 2000 square feet. SHAKE WELL BEFORE USING. Hold container upside down 2-3 feet from surface, point actuator towards the surface and push button. Using a sweeping motion, apply a light uniform spray to all surfaces of furniture, rugs, carpets, drapes, and around all pet resting areas. Avoid thoroughly wetting surfaces. Mist treated areas only until "slightly damp". Do not over-treat. Reapply in 14 days, if necessary. IMPORTANT: Only complete and proper application to carpets, upholstery, drapes, and other fabrics will provide thorough flea/tick elimination. Keep children and pets out of areas during treatment. Vacate room after treatment, and ventilate until surfaces are dry before reoccupying.
  4. For best results, eliminate fleas on pets with an approved flea product like Petcor Flea Spray or a product recommended by your veterinarian.

Always read the product label completely before use.

Each can of Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray treats 2,000 square feet.  Treatment in 10 second bursts will yield 7 to 8 minutes of continuous spraying per can.  Keep in mind that most flea infestations will require at least one follow up treatment.

Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray is for use in the following areas:

Inside Residential homes, garages, kennels; Commercial and Industrial Buildings including but not limited to hospitals, hotels, motels, offices, schools, supermarkets, transportation equipment (buses, boats, ships, trains, trucks), warehouses, utilities, veterinary clinics

Indoors-

Identify treatment areas, especially those where pets frequent, such as in and around pet’s sleeping and resting areas. These are the primary areas where fleas, their eggs, and ticks are found. Before treatment, make a test application to upholstery, drapery, light-colored, delicate fabrics, or wood surfaces in an inconspicuous place. 2. Prepare treatment areas. Remove pets and birds, and cover and unplug fish aquariums before spraying. Remove motor vehicles before using in garages. For best results with Surface/Carpet treatments, vacuum thoroughly before spraying and discard vacuum bag in outside trash. This product may also be used for infested surfaces inside motor vehicles. 3. Apply treatment. For flea/tick infestations, a single can treats 2000 square feet. Hold container upside down 2-3 feet from surface, point actuator towards the surface and push button. Apply as a spot treatment only to surfaces of furniture, rugs, carpets, drapes, and around all pet resting areas until “slightly damp”. Reapply in 14 days, if necessary. IMPORTANT: Only proper application to carpets, upholstery, drapes, and other fabrics will provide thorough flea/tick elimination. Keep people and pets out of areas during treatment. Do not apply directly to pets or animals. Vacate room after treatment, and ventilate until surfaces are dry before reoccupying. For best results, treat your pets with a registered flea and tick control on-animal product, such as Petcor® Flea Spray or other similar on-animal products to eliminate fleas/ticks on your pets.

1 x 16oz. can covers approx. 2000 sq. ft. of surface area. You should hold the can 3 feet above the carpet and no closer. If you hold it 3 feet away, the spray will be dry when it hits the carpet and you will get the proper coverage area out of the can. Treat in 10 second bursts. If you continually depress the can for longer than 10 seconds, the can will foam at the top. Also, the can is made to only work at room temperature. It will not work properly if the temps are below 70 degrees. Warm to room temp. first before using. You should get 7 to 8 minutes of continuous spraying per can.

*Cover and unplug any aquariums before spraying.

Fleas may appear for up to two weeks after treatment. This is the pupal window – when younger stages of fleas may still emerge – and the residual activity of Precor 2000 Plus should kill adults who emerge during this time. Frequent vacuuming (every day or every other day) will also help encourage immature fleas to emerge more quickly while also picking up the organic matter on which larvae feed.

*See above for complete treatment process.

Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray is not intended for outdoor use.

Precor 2000 Plus Features

The only thing that worked for me

    By Kenya on 09/19/2011

    Verified Purchase

I recently discovered a flea infestation in my apartment a few weeks ago. I've never experienced a problem like this before, as we have an indoor only cat, so I had no idea what I was up against. I got my cat to the vet and on Revolution, and then looked around online trying to figure out the best way to kill the fleas in the apartment. We used bombs at first, but that didn't seem to do anything at all. There were just as many fleas. I vacuumed every inch of the apartment every day, and while that did help some, it still didn't get rid of all the fleas, and they were still jumping on me and my husband. I tried a couple of flea carpet sprays from the store, but those didn't work very well. I tried using boric acid, and that killed some of them, but it didn't kill them all, and we were still getting bit up from fleas. I even tried using one of those flea traps, but that didn't catch too many. The whole situation was a nightmare! I figured I needed something stronger and something that could really get down into the carpets, so I got back online and did some research. I had heard about Precor in the past, but ignored it, as I thought I could take care of the flea problem myself with store bought products. Defeated by everything else I had tried, I typed in Precor to see what others had to say about it on forums, and the majority of people had good results with it. Precor 2000 Plus was recommended, so I figured I'd try it. I was very skeptical at first, as I had already tried so many other things that didn't work. I ordered the Precor on a Tuesday, and it was delivered to me at work on Friday. My cat had a vet appointment that day, so I had her stay at the vet all day while I sprayed the apartment. I went home for lunch that day, and started spraying. Very very strong smelling stuff. Very "chemically". I had on a mask, though. I opened the doors and windows before I sprayed, but the fumes are still really strong while you're spraying. I got everything sprayed: carpets, floors, couch, chairs, under the bed, closets, window sills, baseboards, etc. I left all the windows open, fans blowing, and air conditioning on, so the place could air out, and then went back to work. After work and picking up my cat from the vet, I came home. The floors and everything was dry, although there was still a little of the Precor smell lingering (the rest disappeared after a little longer). I took off my shoes and walked around the carpet. Nothing. No fleas. Not one! I was still a little skeptical wondering if one would jump on my feet and ankles, but nothing did. It's been 3 days now, and still have not seen even one flea! Not even when walking around in white socks! I read somewhere that it's best to keep vacuuming everyday for 2 weeks after applying this product, to encourage any eggs to hatch into the spray residue, and I am doing that. Ah, it's so nice to be able to relax when at home, without getting bit up by fleas! This product is a God send, and I will definitely be ordering another can to have on hand!

    This stuff works!!

    By Alex on 04/01/2009

    Verified Purchase

I have a lot of pets and had a perpetual flea problem until I started using the Precor 2000 Plus Premise spray and now I do not see a flea at all. Used regularly, once a month in my fur-filled home, and you will not have a flea problem anymore. I have used about every other product out there and Precor is the best by far. This stuff works!

It's the best for flea and tick control

    By Sheila on 06/11/2010

    Verified Purchase

I've used this product for years and it's the best. If a flea or tick rides into the house on your pet, it will die. It won't have time to lay eggs, but eggs would not live either. One can treats my entire 1300 sq ft house for 7 months on a clean carpet. What I really like is that it doesn't have an aroma that aggravates my allergies. Once the product settles down after spraying, it's odorless.

    Best stuff hands down!

    By Greg on 03/19/2010

I purchased this stuff mid-summer last year. My dog and cat were bringing in fleas like crazy. One treatment (2 cans) for the whole house, and not a single flea after that. I sprayed on my couch and 5 days later I lifted the cushion and dead fleas everywhere. This is well worth the price.

Q
Can cats stay in the house while I spray Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray or do they need to be removed?

Could I put them in one room and then do that room after?

A

Your cats do not need to leave the house.  You should do exactly as you suggested.  Place the cats in another room while you are treating and wait 30 minutes for the Precor 2000 Plus Premise to dry. Once the product has dried, it is perfectly safe to allow the cats back into the room.

Q
Should I vacuum the next day after the Precor 2000 treatment?

We did the whole house but I still feel little stings around my legs (no bites).

A
It is our recommendation and industry standard that you vacuum immediately before the application of Precor 2000 and every day or every other day after the application for the next two weeks. Vacuums can physically remove a decent percentage of flea eggs that are in the carpet, along with much of the organic crud that the flea larvae feed on. A critical part of the diet of the larva is dried blood, present there as fecal material from the fleas that are on the pets. Wherever the pets spend time they will shed the fecal matter and the eggs, so it is extremely important that you focus on these potential hot spots where the pets sleep. A vacuum also will remove a small percentage of larvae, but the larva is pretty tenacious, and will wrap around the carpet fibers down there at the base of the pile, and hold on for dear life as the vacuum passes by. The pupa is even tougher to physically remove, for it uses fibers as part of its "cocoon". But, the vacuum will stimulate the flea adults still in their pupa form to quickly emerge as the adult, and at this point perhaps be sucked up in the vacuum. Even if they are not removed by the vacuum, at least they now are exposed and susceptible to your treatment.   After two weeks most infestations require that you do a second application of the Precor 2000 and continue with the vacuuming.

Q
Will Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray damage my real hardwood flooring?
A
No, Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray is perfectly safe on just about any surface. You should always test the spray first in a corner or inconspicuous area to be sure, but we have never had any issues. Remember to vacuum all surfaces and cracks and crevices of the hardwood floor and around baseboards first before the application. You should also vacuum often over the next week and apply again exactly 14 days later after your first application. Be sure to vacuum again before your second treatment.

Q
How do you treat your clothes for fleas?

Do fleas live in clothing? Our kitten would jump into our bottom drawers of our dresser. Should I wash all clothing or just open the drawers of the dresser when treating our home with Precor 2000?

A
Clothes should not be sprayed with any type of insecticide. All clothing that could be infested should be washed and dried. Dry Clean only clothes in most cases can simply go through the dryer for about 30 minutes. Be sure the dryer is on a setting that will reach at least 120F as this is the temperature that will kill the insects and their eggs.

I have fleas in my house. Is there a pesticide I can use to spray the carpet area in my room?

It also contains an insect growth regulator to prevent reinfestation for up to seven months. Vacuuming is very important when treating for fleas.
