What is the Non Ionic Surfactant that is mentioned with Grass Out Max (Clethodim Herbicide)?

Is Dawn an acceptable surfactant?

Answer:

A non ionic surfactant is an adjuvant (or sticking agent) that helps the product it is mixed with to stick to the surface/plant that is sprayed. This helps to increase the effectiveness of the product that it is mixed with. Not all products are labeled to be mixed with a surfactant, so it is important to review the product labels of the items you are using to ensure you are following the instructions for best results. Grass Out Max (Clethodim Herbicide) recommends using a non ionic surfactant or crop oil concentrate for best results. We do not recommend using Dawn Soap as an alternative as that would be using the products off label, and there is no recommended/instructed amount to even use to see if it would be effective.
