    Q
What is the difference between Advance Carpenter Ant Bait and Advance 375A?
What is the difference between the two products. They appear to be quite similar. I'm trying to determine which to use on Carpenter Ants. I would figure the Carpenter Ant version, yet most websites seem to recommend 375A for Carpenter Ants.
    A

Advance Carpenter Ant Bait is specifically designed to be more attractive to carpenter ants as it has larger granules which smaller ants are not as interested in.  Advance 375A has granules of all sizes so that more types are attracted to it.

    Q
How do I treat for carpenter ants in the root of an oak tree?
They appear to come out of the ground in one area.
    A

For treating carpenter ants around/in trees, you can use a bait such as the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait around the base of the tree as well as where the roots/branches meet in small piles.  The Carpenter Ants will eat the bait and take it back to their nest.  They will then feed the bait to the queen and the other colony members, and in turn the product will kill all of the ants in the colony.  This is important because once the colony is eliminated, you will not have to battle them again.  Another option is a spray product called Dominion 2L which will work similar to a bait, but they just have to walk across the treated area and they pick it up and transfer to others in the colony.  It can be sprayed up to breast height on the tree or by injecting into the part of the tree that is infested following the instructions on the product label.

    Q
When placed outdoors, will the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait attract or harm pets?
    A

The Advance Carpenter Ant Bait, when applied correctly will not harm children or pets. Pets can be attracted to the granules but if they are applied correctly the pets should not be able to eat enough of them for it to be harmful.  You are supposed to broadcast this product outside meaning you will be placing very small amounts in grass, mulch, etc.  A pet would have to consume a large quantity of this product, meaning they would have to get into the container and consume a large amount to get sick.  As with any cleaning product or otherwise, you should always keep the container out of reach of children and pets.

    Q
How do I know if the Advance Ant Granules are working?
We applied Advance granule three days ago and the first day ants just pick them up and carry back to the nest like crazy. But since yesterday they seem to have totally lost interest in it. They crawl right past the granules without picking them up. We did see some dead ants but there seem to be more ants coming out. Is it not working? Why does it lose its appeal?
    A
Seeing the dead ants means that the Advance Carpenter Ant granules are doing their job. Ants however  change their nutritional needs frequently This means that one day they may only forage for proteins, like the granules you put out and another day they may forage for carbohydrates like bait gels or liquids. We recommend leaving the granules in place and allow the ants to continue their natural foraging. You may also consider using an ant bait gel like the Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel in combination with the Advance Granules.

    Q
When is the best time to begin a program to eliminate carpenter ants using MaxForce Carpenter Gel Bait and Advance Carpenter Granular Bait?
    A
Anytime you see carpenter ants around the home, even one, is a good time to apply the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait around your home to discourage entry inside your house.  Early spring is when carpenter ants start to become active and are looking for food since they have been overwintering for a while.  So now (March) is actually a perfect time for applying the bait. We offer the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait Granules and the Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel in our Carpenter Ant Kit #1 and Carpenter Ant Kit #2.

    Q
Does Advance Carpenter Ant Bait product lose effectiveness over time?
This worked well a few years ago but now the carpenter ants just ignore it. I'm using the same bottle I purchased 3 years ago. Do I need a new, unopened bottle of the stuff or have the ants just wised up?
    A

Advance Carpenter Ant Bait has a shelf life of approx. 2 years after opening. You may need fresh bait.

    Q
Is Advance Carpenter Ant Bait safe to use in a child's room?
There are ants in my 3 year old's bedroom. I was thinking that I would drill holes in the wall and blow the bait inside the wall.
    A
Yes, Advance Carpenter Ant Bait is a very safe ant granule bait that can be used inside the home.  Placing it in a wall void would be ideal so the ants would be able to find it but your child would not.  Although the bait is very safe and a child would have to consume a large amount to become ill, you of course want to always exercise caution and not leave bait where children or pets could easily access it.

    Q
Advance Ant Bait placed in shed on paper, next morning bait gone, repeated 3 times same thing.
I have a carpenter ant problem as well as other nuisance ants and insects . I put Advance Ant bait near a carpenter ant colony at a rotten window sill. The bait appears to have worked well at this location. However, for the shed issue listed above, did ants eat the bait or am I feeding other insects? Will the Advance Ant bait kill roaches and other insects? Interestingly, the paper was partially eaten also.
    A
It may be that you have a rodent that was attracted to Advance Carpenter Ant bait food scent. We know that this bait is only formulated for ant treatment and may not pose harm to other pest.

    Q
Are Advance Carpenter ant granules safe to use near a water supply ?
    A
Advance Carpenter Ant Bait granules are safe to use as long as the bait granules cannot actually roll into the water source. The bait will not leach through the soil to contaminate water. If you do have a situation where the bait could roll into a water source you should place the bait into an ant bait station such as the Ant No More Ant Bait Stations.

    Q
Is it too cold to use Advance Carpenter Ant Bait around the perimeter of my home?
I live in Houston, TX. Outside temperatures are now mid 50's at night and 60-70F in the day time. Is it too cold to use Advance around the perimeter of my home?
    A

Not at all.  Any temperature is good to use the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait.  As long as there are ants around the bait will work, despite the temperature.  The only time you would not want to apply it is if it is raining or going to rain within 24 hours.  This product is best applied when you are going to have a few days of dry weather.

    Q
Should I treat outside for ants when spring comes?
I live in Ohio and it is winter now about 19 degrees. My husband found ants after removing the carpet in the family room on one of the edges. He vacuumed them everyday and more appear every day. We know now that we need to treat them. What products do we need to use?
    A
Do you know if they are carpenter ants?  If so, then you should purchase our Carpenter Ant Kit which comes with bait to place in the house for the ants to take back to wherever they are nesting.  This is important because if you do not take out the nest the colony will continue to reproduce and continue to be a problem.

    Q
Would it be better to broadcast or use bait stations with the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait?
    A

You can get effective control either way you use the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait; however using it in a bait station will allow the product to hold up longer outdoors and reduce wasted product from the moisture and weather that would affect it over time during a broadcast application.

    Q
Do you offer a larger size of Advance Carpenter Ant Bait?
I purchased the 8oz. bottle and it seems to be working, but I'm going to need a lot more than 2lbs. to get rid of these things, they are literally coming out of the wood work. Our property adjoins some abandoned property and the ants are coming from there and moving onto ours. I also have the liquid honeydew stations set-up in the shaded locations and they are bone dry every few days. Do you offer a larger size of this product?
    A
Unfortunately the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait Granules only come in a 8 oz container or a 2lb container.
