It is highly recommended to also use Maxforce FC Ant Bait Gel which is a sugar bait. You should always give ants a choice as they may be in the mood for either a protein (granule) or a sugar (gel) bait.
Advance 375A Select Ant Bait is a protein-based bait that eliminates common varieties of household ants such as Acrobat, Argentine, Bigheaded, Carpenter, Crazy, Field, Fire, Harvester, Little Black, Pavement, Pharaoh, Odorous House and Thief Ants.
Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait is a ready to use product for use in controlling numerous ants both indoors and outdoors. This bait formulation combines a mixture of foods and the delayed action insecticide, Abamectin. This insecticide acts to reduce the population of worker ants and can cause an immediate halt in egg production resulting in colony elimination. Avoid use of other insecticides or sprays on or near this product.

PT brand Advance 375A select granular ant bait uses special proteins and carbohydrates combined with a unique corn grit matrix that quickly entices these "select" ants to readily take the bait back to the colony. Once the bait is consumed, the reliable active ingredient, Abamectin B1, quickly reduces populations to acceptable levels.
Abamectin B1 is a GABA inhibitor that interferes with the normal functioning of an insect's nervous system and begins affecting ant populations within 24 hours. This type of insecticide allows the ants time to take the bait back to the nest where it is distributed throughout the colony. Reproduction of the colony halts once the queens have been eliminated and the workers, who carried the bait, perish.
Most common household ants
PESTS CONTROLLED WITH ADVANCE 375A: Ants, including many common varieties of household ants such as Acrobat, Argentine, Bigheaded, Carpenter, Crazy, Field, Fire, Harvester, Little Black, Pavement, Pharaoh, Odorous House and Thief Ants.
Advance 375A can be used for most common household ants that are seeking protein. Use Advance 375A in conjunction with a sweet bait such as Maxforce FC Ant Bait Gel. The two baits can be used side-by-side in convenient and clear bait plate stations. (All three items may be purchased together in our Complete Ant Kit.)
Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait can be used outdoors as a broadcast application around and close to the perimeter of the structure (8oz. per 1/2 acre), or on the interior inside wall voids. Do not use in areas that have been treated with insecticides or sprays. This will cause the bait to be unattractive to the ants. Always read the label.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Abamectin 0.011%
Advance can be used indoors and outdoors to control the ant population. This bait formulation provides for the ant's dietary needs while using the delayed-action insecticide Abamectin. Apply at a rate of 1 lb. per acre for broadcast applications. Indoors, use up to 1.5 oz. of product in heavily traveled sites. Applications may be repeated as necessary. Do not use in food/feed handling areas of food/feed handling establishments. See below for more details.
Advance 375A can also be used in stations such as bait plate stations to protect from rain or dust and for easy placement and clean-up. Bait plate stations also protect bait from pets or children.
Yield will vary greatly with user and application needs. An 8 oz. container covers ½ acre for broadcast applications, treats around approximately 4 mounds, or treats 5-15 sites indoors. A 2 lb. container covers 2 acres for broadcast application, treats around approximately 16 mounds, or treats 20-60 site indoors.
Homes, Residential Areas, Commercial and Other Structures, Non Food/Feed Areas of Commercial Buildings, Warehouses, Hotels, Food Storage Areas, Inedible Product Areas of Meat Packing Plants, Motels, Schools, Supermarkets, Non-Occupied Patient Areas of Hospitals and Nursing Homes, Golf Courses, Parks, Lawns, and Turf.
Indoors
Locate ant activity. Follow ants back to voids. Apply product to cracks and crevices or voids where ants are active. In heavily traveled sites use up to 1.5 ounces of product. Use a large Centrobulb duster puffer or other appropriate application device to place the product into crevices or voids. Repeat application as necessary.
If a residual spray is being use, keep sprays low and baits up high. Do not spray liquid or aerosol insecticides on top of bait applications.
Outdoors
BROADCAST APPLICATION: Use this product at a rate of 8 oz. per 1/2 acre. This is equivalent to approximately 1.8 ounces per 5000 sq. ft., or 0.4 ounces per 1,000 sq. ft. (One tablespoon equals approximately 0.3 oz. of bait.) Apply the product as uniformly as possible. Repeat application as necessary.
AROUND STRUCTURES: Lightly sprinkle the product evenly in a band approximately 1-2 feet wide around the foundation of the building. Treat visible trails with approximately 0.3 to 1 ounce of product depending on the number of ants in the trail. Repeat application as necessary.
INDIVIDUAL COLONY OR MOUND TREATMENT: Use 1.5 to 2.1 ounces of product per mound. Apply the product at the edge of the mound. Repeat application as necessary.
If using residual sprays, do not spray on top of bait applications or use bait in areas where sprays have been applied.

Got my shipment of this today and went right to work with it. I have pavement ants along the front sidewalk and around the edges of the driveway. I was a professional pest control tech with a major company for a couple years and have experience and success with this bait. I sprinkled some of this around and no bull- it no sooner landed and the ants around that area were picking it up and taking it to the nest. I went back a couple hours later and it looked like I did nothing, they took every last grain of this stuff. So I'll give it a couple days and check back for activity. I know this stuff works from using it before. If you choose this don't expect to see dead ants everywhere. They'll eat this and die in the nest so just look for a major decrease of activity to know that it works!

I'm no expert, but this stuff is great!
By Dan on 05/15/2011
We have had Odorous(?) ants all over our yard, in our detached garage, and worst of all infiltrating our brick house and moving in without paying rent! They seem to be amazing at exploiting even the smallest holes and crevices in our mortar. This had been going on for several years and so had our use of over-the-counter control methods. We were going nuts because we keep a clean house and yard and don't remember sending out invitations to the local ACIRC (Ant Council of Immigration Relocation and Colonization). A friend of mine turned me to this granular stuff and the ants loved it. Within seconds of application to their many separate foraging trails you could see an uncountable many, hoisting the IED's (Incognito Extermination Devices) onto their backs. Given the ferocity in their step and excitement on their little faces I could imagine the feast they were planning for the unsuspecting royal family when they got back to their colony. I did get a couple of complaints from a couple of lesser known colonies, but after another application or two there were no more complaints, and the genocide was complete. We can easily say that this stuff worked. Those ants loved the taste, we love the fact that they're dead, and all is now well in our little world. If this stuff gets wet, it's useless. So watch the weather and plan accordingly. Be sure to check back 10 minutes or so after applying, because I was amazed at how fast they took up the bait; keep'em well fed.

Works Great
By Matt on 06/02/2009
I have been having an issue with large black carpenter & argentine ants around the exterior of our log-sided home. On the deck rails and siding around the backside of the home they were in large numbers. I bought Advance 375A Select granular ant bait and gave a light sprinkle outside the area I will perform a barrier treatment with Demon WP. I have also placed several mini-trails on the deck railing where I have seen a lot of activity. Less than a week later I can't even find any of them. Excellent product.

Gone, simply gone
By Jon on 05/17/2010
I've had a persistent problem with what I call tiny sugar ants for years getting into the house. I've tried Amdro, Maxforce, Cynoff, and Talstar ... and the only thing that really worked was Advance 375A. As soon as I see activity in the yard I sprinkle a small amount at the mound and within days there is no activity. This is my third season using Advance and so far I still have control.

Works Great
By Joseph on 11/22/2011
This is the only protein I have tried so I don't have anything to compare it to. But I have used it on big headed ants as well as other ants around my house and it works great. I've knocked out any colonies that will take the bait. I did have a few colonies that weren't taking it so I bought some Dupont Advion (liquid/gel) and that is knocking out the remaining colonies. The recommendations on this site are right on, use both.

Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait when applied properly is too small of an amount to harm an animal as large as a pet. You should keep the container of the granule in a safe place as you would any other cleaning solution or product. Keep in mind this product is only 0.011 per cent active ingredient and the remaining 99.989% is food products that attracts the ants to eat it, so it would take a large amount of this product, almost the whole jug for an animal to get sick.

Same active ingredient, at exactly the same concentration, but different labels. Both are labeled for use as bait for carpenter ants. So, I am puzzled by the overlap between these two very similar Advance products.

I understand this to be an perimeter bait dust. Does damp weather or rain affect it's effectiveness?

I'm a repeat customer and enjoy using your products, as they all seem to work well when used correctly. Part of my regimen consists of applying Deltagard to my lawn outside, although it controls roaches and other bugs I still see ants nests all over the yard in fact they increase in amounts. I find myself having to sprinkle some delta dust to get rid of them. Do you have anything specifically for preventing red and black ants making nests in my yard? Thanks.

Thinking of using both around house and some areas in yard.
When Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait is applied correctly, it will not harm children or pets. Pets can be attracted to the granules but if they are applied correctly the pets should not be able to eat enough of them for it to be harmful. You are supposed to broadcast this product outside meaning you will be placing very small amounts in grass, mulch, etc. A pet would have to consume a large quantity of this product, meaning they would have to get into the container and consume a large amount to get sick. Insects consume and digest a small amount so wildlife would have to consume a large amount to be harmed.
