    Q
Does Advion Cockroach Gel Bait kill pantry confused beetles?
    A

Advion Roach Bait Gel is only designed and labeled only to be used for roaches.

We would recommend Greenway Pantry Patrol Insect Trap for beetles as it covers a broader spectrum of beetle pests including: Red Flour Beetle, Confused Flour Beetle, Indian Meal Moth, Warehouse Beetle, Cigarette Beetle, Mediterranean Flour Moth, Tobacco Moth, Rice Weevil, Saw-Toothed Grain Beetle.

For treating cracks and creviecs where the larvae could be developing, we would recommend an aerosol insecticide such as D-Force HPX.

    Q
Why am I seeing cockroaches with shriveled up wings and enlarged bodies after months of using Advion Cockroach Gel Bait?
I bought this product last year almost it works great and I haven't seen any for a while, but now randomly I've noticed weird ones with deformed wings and enlarged abdomens They just appear in my bathroom or on the stairs. Does that mean it's time to switch bait? Or are they adapting and mutating?
    A
Advion Cockroach Gel Bait should not cause mutations like the kind you described. You will usually see these types of mutations when using an IGR (insect Growth Regulator). Over time roaches do tend to build resistance to gel baits so we recommend rotating to a different bait after 3 months of use.

    Q
Advion Cockroach Gel Bait did not work for my roach infestation and I used your product exactly as described.
I used the product exactly as described and it does not work. Areas were not contaminated where bait was placed, roaches never touched it, it dried up after a day and now seeing more roaches than before. Dozens scatter on countertops when turning my kitchen light on.
    A

When you notice more roaches attracted to the bait that is normal and an indication that the product is working. The attractants lure them to the locations you placed the bait in your structure in order for the product to be accepted and effective. Rotating with other baits aside from Advion would be advised every 90 days for an integrated pest management.

For active roach infestations, using a roach bait alone will not eliminate them. It is recommended to use a combination treatment program with a residual insecticide (along baseboards, behind appliances, under cabinets, sinks, around windows, etc) and an insect growth regulator to help stop the reproduction cycle.

Repeat applications of spraying the insecticide and replacing bait placements are required every 10 to 14 days. If still seeing roaches after 90 days, you will want to continue spraying the insecticide but rotate to another roach bait to offer a different bait matrix.

Yes, bleach or any cleaning chemical as well as other insecticides can contaminate bait products. When applying Advion Cockroach Gel Bait bait placements should be applied in areas that are not frequently cleaned or on top of areas where insecticides are sprayed.

    Q
    It's been a week…
It's been a week and I don't see anymore roaches. I put the bait down and sealed cracks, cleaned the kitchen every night and put up dog food and water bowls every night. Does this mean that they are gone or just moved.
    A
This will depend on how large the infestation was to begin with. Normally, is takes a combination of products to fully eradicate a roach problem. Please take a moment to review our How to Get Rid of Roaches Guide as well as our Roach Prevention Guide for more information and helpful tips.

    Q
How long do you keep putting out?
We have a pretty bad infestation. I ordered a 4pk of Advion Ev 2 weeks ago and have managed to put out all 4 tubes. Every time I saw a spot where they had eaten the bait, I reapplied. Should I order more and keep putting it out? Should I go ahead and swap products?
    A
Advion Roach Bait Gel is a great product for various roach species. If you have a bad infestation Advion should not be the only product used for eradication. We do offer it in our Roach Control Rotation C Kit. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article 'How to Get Rid of Roaches' for more helpful information on eliminating this insect.

    Q
What happens if my dog eats some of the Advion Cockroach Gel Bait?
    A

Typically with a very small amount there is no need for worry. More than 90% of the baits are made up of food based ingredients which is what attracts the roaches to it to take back to the colony. If you are concerned you can monitor your dogs and contact Syngenta directly regarding any side effects they may have from what little they ingested. Also, keep in mind that any place you are putting Advion Cockroach Gel Bait  should be in an area the pets cannot get to anyways, so you may not want to put the bait in the same places again if the pets have easy access to those areas. You can reach Syngenta at 302-425-2000.

    Q
How long does it take for the roaches to die after they eat the Advion Cockroach Gel Bait?
    A

Advion Roach Bait Gel is a slow kill so that it has time to be taken back to the colony and spread. Roaches can start dying within a few hours.  How long it takes to eliminate a roach infestation depends on how large the infestation is, how consistent and thorough you are being with treatments, and the specific products you are using. There is not a set time; it can take but it can take weeks or months even to get complete control. Advion Roach Bait Gel is typically not used alone but in combination with other products. We would recommend one of our roach control kits. You can see the kits by clicking on the link here. We also have a great article for eliminating them that can offer some great advice; you can find it here.

    Q
How does this product compare to Invict Gold or Vendetta Plus??
Well, I'm a pest control owner. I am currently using Advion and Vendetta(w igr). I just wanted to know which of the three was more palatable for roach consumption.
    A

Advion Cockroach Gel Bait has a different food matrix than the other two but does not contain an IGR the way Vendetta Plus Cockroach Gel Bait does. Meaning, that you would need to use an IGR in conjunction. Keep in mind that you need to rotate the baits otherwise, you will meet resistance & they will stop working.

    Does it harm your cat?
    A

According to the Advion Roach Bait Gel SDS:

"Potential Health Effects: Based on animal testing, no biologically significant effects are expected from skin or eye contact or by ingestion." You should still read and follow the product label which recommends that you use the roach bait gel in places that will be inaccessible to your pet. Of course, if you see any unusual behavior or signs of sickness, you should consult a veterinarian

Do I need to cover up or box up all my clothes so nothing gets infected?
What about my bed do I need to cover that up in plastic or remove it as well, what about my dresser that has clothes, do I need to remove those as well, how about electronic devices?
    A

There is no need to cover up furniture mattresses etc. when using Advion Cockroach Gel Bait. There is no way to impede roaches from entering certain furniture until they have been eliminated. Please read our How to Get Rid of Roaches Guide for more information.

    Q
Should I apply Advion if I have had a roach problem in the past?
The last time I saw a roach was about 3 months ago, in a kitchen drawer. I applied the last of the Advion bait I had from a previous purchase and I haven't seen any roaches or droppings since. Am I inviting trouble by being proactive and re-applying now before the hot weather comes? Should I just wait until I see a roach or droppings again? For years now I have seen cockroaches in my kitchen and bathroom, especially in summer, but months can pass without seeing one. Thank you in advance for your response.
    A

You should still use the Advion Cockroach Gel Bait, roaches can survive for several months without food and up to two weeks without water. I'll also link a prevention guide below and that will help you more on eliminating these pests.
