    Q
How long before you will find dead roaches using Advion Cockroach Gel Bait?
How long will it go after applying Advion gel that you will find dead roaches
    A

You will not always see dead roaches after using Advion Cockroach Gel Bait.  This is because roaches are going to die where ever they die and this could be behind cabinets, in wall voids, or other areas inaccessible to you.  You want to continue to bait as long as you see activity.  With a heavy infestation, you can expect several weeks before you see full results. Please take a few moments to read our roach control article for more information on a complete roach treatment.

In most cases, to remove old Advion Gel you can use hot soapy water.  If that does not work, vegetable oil takes it right up.

    Q
After applying Advion Roach Bait Gel, how do you know the roaches are gone?
I have a low infestation. I only see 1 or 2 roaches every couple of days before i applied the bait. After i applied the baits i only saw like 3 dead ones in my kitchen two days later i saw one in my bathroom I didn't bait my bathroom as i havent seen them there before. So i bait my bathroom and other rooms in my property. How would i know there gone. As i thought i killed them the first day. How long from a the last time ubsee one dead or alive u know ur home is free
    A

How long it takes to eliminate a roach infestation depends on how large the infestation is, how consistent and thorough you are being with treatments and what products you are using. There is not a set time; it can take weeks or months even to get complete control.  Advion Roach Bait gel is typically not used alone but in combination with other products. We would recommend one of our roach control kits. We also have a great article for eliminating them that can offer some great advice; you can find it here.

    Q
Can I put the Advion Roach Bait Gel on my kitchen counter?
    A

You may use the Advion Roach Bait in cabinets, drawers, etc, but please keep in mind that per the product label:

Application to food/feed areas of food/feed handling establishments may only be made as a crack and crevice treatment only. Apply Advion Cockroach Gel Bait directly into cracks and crevices by placing the bait dispenser tip approximately 1/2 inch into cracks, crevices, holes and similar openings where cockroaches are found or are entering.
Food and feed handling areas include areas for receiving, storage, packing (canning, bottling, wrapping, boxing), preparing edible waste storage, and enclosed processing systems (mills, dairies, edible oils, syrups). Serving areas are also considered a food/feed area when food is exposed and facility is in operation.

Do not apply Advion Cockroach Gel Bait to areas where food/feed, food utensils or food processing surfaces may come into contact and become contaminated.
    • Do not apply Advion Cockroach Gel Bait to areas that are routinely washed such as cracks and crevices in tops of tables, food/feed preparation and prepared food holding surfaces as bait could be removed by the washing.
    • Do not apply Advion Cockroach Gel Bait to surfaces where the temperature exceeds 120-130°F because this could cause the bait to liquefy and lose effectiveness.
    • Examples include, but are not limited to, parts of stoves, ovens, grills, fume hoods, saunas, heat lamps, coffee urns, steam tables, toasters, fryers, dishwashers, and hot water pipes.
    • Use good application practice to avoid movement of Advion Cockroach Gel Bait to exposed surfaces used for food preparation.

    Q
How long do I need to keep applying Advion Roach Bait Gel if I no longer see roaches in the area? I don't want to attract any more.
    A

We would recommend removing Advion Roach Bait Gel if you no longer have an issue since it does contain food grade materials that are meant to attract roaches. The product only needs to be used if there are roaches present. We would recommend waiting 30 days before removing the product once you have stopped seeing activity.

    Q
Is Advion Roach Bait Gel available in liquid form?
The german roaches in my apartment were all over this stuff when I first put it out but it dried up within a day and they wanted nothing to do with it. I saw that it was recommended that I use the bait plate stations so I did, but the bait still dried up after only a day. These roaches seem to really like the liquid bait (Hot Shot Ultra Liquid Roach Bait) that I used to put out but they have since become averse, causing me to look into other options. I'm sure a liquid version of this bait would be what I need to really knock them out, is this sort of thing available?
    A

Advion Roach Bait is only available in the gel and arenas (bait-filled stations). If you have been using the same bait for several weeks or months, then we would suggest switching to a different bait such as Maxforce Impact or Invict Gold. Baits will dry more quickly in dry areas, on porous surfaces such as concrete or wood, and in areas near vents or other air drafts. You may also need to inspect the area again for any possible competing moisture sources near sinks, drains, pet bowls, refrigerator drip pans, dishwashers, etc. Please let us know if we can further assist you.

    Q
Is it common for german roaches to become more active after using Advion Roach Bait Gel?
My problem is quite bad . I have applied Demon WP on my windows and doors and in high traffic areas. I have sticky pads under lots of my furniture and in high traffic areas for the roaches, and I'm baiting with Advion. I'm about 3 days in with the Advion, and before I applied it, they stayed mainly in the cracks and crevices, but now they are running everywhere.
    A

Yes, it is normal to see an increase in activity as the roaches nervous systems are being affected after consuming Advion Roach Bait Gel. Make sure to keep replacing the bait every 2-3 weeks and respraying Demon WP along cracks and crevices, around windows and doors, behind appliances, etc every 7-10 days. If you are not using an IGR, we recommend the Gentrol Point Source Packs to help stop the reproduction.

Please take a look at our How to Treat for Roaches Article for step by step instructions on how to do a full treatment.

    Q
Can I put some Advion Cockroach Gel Bait near the stove, or will it attract more roaches?
I see them coming out from the stove range hood. I just moved to an apartment a month ago and have had problems with German roaches.
    A

You could bait near the stove (and other areas in the kitchen) to attract them, but you may notice more activity as any of the baits that you select including Advion Roach Bait do contain food attractants and this is normal. You will want to place new bait out every two weeks (cleaning up old bait first). We suggest using the products in our Roach Control Kits. You can find a guide for bait placements in our Roach Control Treatment Article.

    Q
Is it normal for the gel to be runny?
When using this gel a year ago, the substance was thick and solid. However my most recent order contained a bait that was very runny. Does this mean that it will not be as effective?
    A

When Advion Roach Bait Gel is runny, this usually indicates that it was stored in an area where it got too hot.  If you were using it soon after receiving it, it may be that the product sat in a hot delivery truck before it got to you.  While this will not affect the efficacy of the product, if it is difficult to use, it should firm up again if you place it in the refrigerator for a day or so.

    Q
Is roach gel or a bait station better to use in a bedroom?
There have been many baby roaches in my bathroom and now in my bedroom for the past few weeks. I've been using diatomaceous earth and boric acid. After about a week of using the diatomaceous earth & boric acid I now see a few baby roaches on some days and more on other days. The number I see seems to vary each day. Not sure why that is but I want to try a roach gel instead. I also just ordered Gentrol growth regulator stations to use in conjunction with the gel. If the gel is going to attract roaches, is it better to use it only in the bathroom and not in my bedroom as I don't want tons more roaches flocking to my bedroom as they're really freaking me out and I am afraid to go to sleep as I've found a few in my bed. Should I maybe use a bait station in my bedroom instead of the gel? Does it matter which one I use? Is one better than the other for a bedroom?
    A

We recommend using a roach bait gel in most situations when you are actively finding roaches, especially in areas with lots of moisture like in a bathroom. Bait gel has more moisture than bait stations, it’s easy to apply directly into cracks and crevices, and you do not have to worry about the small size of stations that keep some roaches from entering. Using Gentrol along with a bait gel is perfect to control those smaller roaches, as well.

What do I use to screw the top off the Advion gel bait tube?
The tip is difficult to take off.
    A
We would recommend using a small pair of pliers if you are having difficulty getting the tip off of the Advion Roach Bait gel. It should just twist off and on once you get it off the first time. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Can the Advion Roach Bait Gel kill pets?
I have two kittens and I was wondering
    A

The very minute amount of Advion Gel the roaches may eat is not enough to harm your cats. Be sure when putting the gel out that you do put the gel into cracks and crevices and other places that will not be accessible to your cats.

    Q
Can I use Advion Roach Bait Gel now, 4 weeks after an exterminator sprayed?
I had 2 water bugs in my apartment (in one night) and thus called an exterminator. Have not seen any big ones in 2 months, but babies are occasionally popping up in bathroom and kitchen. The glue board under the fridge also caught one. Would like to try advion gel but do not want to interfere with what exterminator sprayed.
    A

Yes, you could use the Advion Roach Bait Gel anytime, you just would not want to apply sprays on top of bait placements or vice versa. If it has been two months since anything was sprayed, it should be fine to use bait gel. Our Roach Control Kit Rotation C contains the Advion Roach Bait Gel, Temprid SC (spray), and Gentrol Point Source Stations to target immature stages, as well as glue traps to help you monitor your treatment.
