    Why do you use Alpine Dust if you use steam? How does Alpine Dust work?
    A

    The reason you would follow steaming up with dusts or other products is because steam will only kill the bedbugs that are there at the time of the treatment, it does not leave a residual and will not kill bugs that are not directly contacted by the steam. Alpine dust has Dinotefuran plus diatomaceous earth. This combination of ingredients will give you a quick knockdown plus a long lasting residual. The following are the directions of where and how the Alpine dust can be applied:

    "Apply to cracks and crevices where evidence of bed bugs occurs. This includes bed frames, box springs,
    inside empty dressers, clothes closets and carpet edges, high and low wall moldings and wallpaper edges. Do not use this product on mattresses, pillows, bed linens or clothes. Remove all clothes and other articles from dressers or clothes closets before application. Reapply as necessary. Direct contact with dry dust is required to be effective."

    what makes this different than your previous D.E. product which has been discontinued?
    the product name was "MotherEarth D - Diatomaceous Earth." What makes alpine dust different? please respond quickly. :) thanks

    The Mother Earth D.E. has not been discontinued. Our website states that the manufacturer of the Mother Earth DE no longer carries/produces it in the 8 oz size bottle, only the 10lb bucket. The Alpine DE is made by a different company and does come in the smaller 8 oz size. The Alpine has 95% DE and .25% Dinotefuran which gives a quicker knock down of the pest over the Mother Earth which is only 100% DE. Both can be used in the same areas of a home and both are still very safe products to use. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    It is typically recommended to wear a mask when applying the Alpine Dust because it is such a fine dust.

    Can Alpine Dust be used to treat the sides and piping of mattresses?
    will this be as effective as diatect dust do you think? Could cover surfaces with Diatect and it seemed to knock down populations very quickly.

    Pyganic dust would actually be the equivalent of the Diatect that you used in the past. Pyganic dust contains the same active ingredients as Diatect (Pyganic dust contains 1.0% pyrethrins while Diatect only contains 0.2% Pyrethrins) and would provide very similar or better results and it can be used on the mattress. Alpine dust on the other hand contains Dinotefuran and Diatomaceous Earth and it is non-repellent which means that the bedbugs will not be able to sense that there is an insecticide and they will not be able to avoid the treated areas. Alpine Dust cannot be used on mattresses but it is permissible to use it on/in boxsprings.

    I need to kill bedbugs while renovating a boarding house, what will work?
    We are renovating a 22-unit boarding house with a known bedbug infestation. Each room is being gutted to the studs. What product will give us the best immediate kill plus residual protection inside the walls before we install new sheetrock? What product should we apply to the floors before we install carpet and padding? All beds and furnishings are being replaced so we start fresh.

    Alpine dust is the product of choice for long-term control of bedbugs. Apline dust can be applied to the wall voids and the floors prior to covering it. Alpine dust will last indefinitely and will keep killing for as long as it is in place. Alpine dust is also on the EPA reduced risk list which makes ideal for use in a boarding house where folks with different health issues may pass through.

    Crystalline Silica Content?
    Could you advise the crystalline silica content % in Diatomaceous Earth? Basically wondering if this is Food Grade (safer for breathing in etc). Thanks.

    We are not sure.  You can try contacting the manufacturer and they may be able to tell you, but what we can tell you is that alpine dust nor any DE dust we carry is food grade.  It is pest control grade and not meant for any consumption.

    Is Alpine Dust safe behind baseboards (around perimeter of the living room)?
    I'm fighting a cornfield ant problem. It looks like they are crawling between mine and my neighbor's townhouses. Is it safe to sprinkle Alpine dust behind the baseboards? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Yes, the Alpine dust is extremely safe to use as it is an all natural dust that works well on ants. You can use it in wall voids and behind base boards and their crevices. Another option would be using a bait combination like what is in our Complete Ant Kit. This provides the ants with a food source that they will take back to the colony and queen and eliminate it at its source whereas the dust will only kill those it comes into contact with.     What is the best way to clean up Alpine dust when you want to re-apply?

    Alpine Dust is labeled to be used in cracks and crevices, voids and hidden surfaces around sinks and storage areas, behind baseboards, around doors and windows, behind and under refrigerators, cabinets, and desks, sinks and stoves and attics and crawl spaces. There really should not be any place where it will need to be cleaned up unless it was spilled it excess. Dust that spills or may be left in exposed areas can be wiped up with a wet paper towel.

    Does Alpine Dust kill fleas in your yard?
    A
    Alpine dust and most dust products are intended for treatment indoors.  Dust will not last outside with wind and rain. 

    If you are looking to treat inside and outside for fleas, you should definitely get our indoor/outdoor flea kit.  It comes with an excellent product called onslaught, which is great for both outdoors and indoors.  It is also very safe around pets and has a long residual.  Also in the kit is an IGR called Martins IGR.  It is photo-stable up to 14 days which is about as long as you will find for an IGR that will be outside.  Of course you should mix both together in the same tank and apply at the same time both outside and inside.

    What should I do if my cat was exposed to Alpine Dust?
    Can you please address the danger to cats of being exposed to alpine? If alpine is used to treat fleas in an apartment, can it cause cancer in a pet cat if the cat is exposed?

    If Alpine Dust is used as directed, it is safe for use around pets, including cats. Be sure to keep pets out of the area until the product has settled completely into the carpet, furniture, or other areas where it is being applied. Dinotefuran, the active ingredient in Alpine Dust, is a newer non-repellent active ingredient that the EPA has granted Reduced Risk status for public health use. Dinotefuran is part of the insecticide class neonicotinoids, neuro-active insecticides that are modeled after nicotine. Dinotefuran is a central nervous system inhibitor that takes effect after insects ingest it.

    Does Alpine Dust work on spiders?
    A

    Alpine Dust is a great product to apply to voids and cracks and crevices for many insects including spiders. We also suggest applying the products in our Spider Control Kit as the dust is a slow kill but a a long lasting residual to the listed areas.     Can Alpine Dust and CimeXa be used together?
    Is CimeXa safe for toddlers and pets?

    While there would not be any issue with Alpine Dust and CimeXa being used together it would really be a waste of product as either one would work well on its own and they do the same thing.  Both are safe when used as directed: children and pets should be out of the area during treatment.  You will only need to use a small amount of dust; if you can see it, so can the insects and they can then avoid the area.

    We have warehouse beetles in the kitchen. We use D-force hpx but is there an aerosol product to use as well?
    this stuff is working but discovered they are in the wall, is there another product in a spray aersol? have the bugs and the larve..
    A
    Because the beetles/larva seem to be developing in an inaccessible area where it may not be possible to remove the source of the beetle we recommend you use a long lasting dust insecticide such as Alpine dust. Alpine dust consists of an insecticide and diatomaceous earth and will keep killing insects for as long as it is place and exposed to the insects. You would apply the dust using a bellow hand duster and you would need to try to get the dust into the void where beetles seem to be active. You can do this by unscrewing the wall plate of electrical outlets and and applying the dust with the duster, you can try to get the dust under the baseboard with the duster or you can drill holes about 12" off of the floor and between the wall studs and use the duster to apply the dust.

    Is there a dust they make that can be sprayed in my attic where bees have decided to invade?
    I want something that will kill them all, especially the ones I cant see or find their hive.

    We would recommend to dust the attic with  Alpine Dust. Alpine Dust will NOT excite the bees.  You want to make sure to apply Alpine Dust where you have seen activity. Best time to apply is earlier morning or later evening.

    Would Alpine Dust be recommended for resistant German Roaches?
    In a commercial restaurant, I'm dealing with pyrethroid resistant German Roaches. I've used the Alpine roach bait with decent results before. I'm wondering if Alpine dust would do better than Deltadust in the wall voids, since they are resistant to pyrethroids, even when mixed with PBO. I've used pyrethrin, PBO (Exponent), Fenvastar plus, and Gentrol in my Actisol. I've seen limited results, even when using an oil base. I've pressure dusted Deltadust into a majority of the wall voids, and a few are coming out and dying, but I'm still seeing too many to believe I've gotten decent control. They even laugh at Cyzmic CS.

    Alpine Dust could be used in place of DeltaDust but with roaches baits are the most effective part of treatment or using a spray such as Phantom that works like a bait in that it has a transfer effect back to the colony.  All the sprays/dusts you have used only kill those that contact a treated area or that are sprayed directly (pyrethrin/PBO).  It can take weeks/months to completely eliminate a roach infestation especially in a commercial setting where food/water could be available, so proper santitation and good housekeeping are a key part of treatment.  We have a guide here that can help as well.

    How can Alpine Dust really work when it is water based?
    You have to mix it with water right?

    Alpine Dust  is is a dry dust that is not mixed with water.  It is applied with a dust applicatior to cracks, crevices, voids, and other listed areas on the product label.

    Is Alpine Dust a safe product for pregnant women to use?
    A

    Alpine Dust should not be applied by the pregnant woman or while she is present. Once treated properly by someone else, it will be safe for her to return. It is one of the safer dusts to apply inside cracks and crevices.
