Details

Archer Insecticide is an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator). The Archer Insecticide unique mode of action disrupts the life cycle of ants, fleas, flies, ticks, cockroaches, mosquitoes and beetles for effective population control.

  1. Low hazard, only carries a “caution” warning from the EPA.
  2. Non-volatile and remains stable in sunlight.
  3. Effective when used in combination with other baits, and readily tank mixes with adulticides like Demand CS and Demon MAX, for a fast-acting, superior pest control program.
  4. Does not cause stain or odor when used as directed.
  5. Retains activity against pre-adult fleas for up to 7 months, and against pre-adult cockroaches for up to 6 months.

What is an IGR?

  1. Archer Insecticide is an IGR, or Insect Growth Regulator.
  2. An IGR is a chemical that disrupts and impede the life cycle of insects in the egg and larvae stage of development.
  3. The idea with an IGR is that if an insect cannot reach adulthood, it cannot reproduce.
  4. In short, IGR is a form of “birth control” for pests which helps keep the populations of unwanted pests under control by preventing current and future infestations.

How to Mix Archer Insecticide

Archer Insect Growth Regulator is intended to be mixed with water and applied with application equipment, such as hand-held, backpack, or power spray equipment.

  1. Fill applicator container 1/2 full with water.
  2. Add the amount of Archer Insect Growth Regulator to container as recommended in the rate table found on the product label.
  3. Shake, stir, or agitate.
  4. Fill applicator tank with water to final volume recommended in rate table.
  5. Shake, stir, or agitate again.
  6. To assure the highest quality control, prepared dilutions should be used within 24 hours and should be shaken, stirred, or agitated again if diluted material is not used for several hours.

General

Prior to any interior treatment, carpets, draperies and upholstered furniture should be vacuumed. The vacuum cleaner bag should be sealed and disposed of in an outdoor trash receptacle.

In Kennels and Doghouses

Treatment of kennels and doghouses will control pre-adult fleas from developing into biting and reproductive adult fleas.

  1. Prior to treatment, remove animals, pets and their food and water dishes before applying.
  2. Do not return animals and pets to treated areas until the application has completely dried.
  3. Using a tank-type applicator, apply Archer at a rate of 1 gallon diluted solution per 1,500 square feet of surface area.
  4. Apply to buildings, resting areas, walls, floors, animal bedding and run areas.
  5. Archer should not be used as an on-animal application. Pets should be treated for fleas by a veterinarian or groomer before the home is treated with Archer.

I used an Archer/Conquer mixture on my yard and in my house for a flea problem that was out of control. Within no time the little boogers were gone! I've tried everything and this was the ONLY product that worked. My name is Jennifer and I've been flea free for 2 weeks!

Fleas have no chance with Archer. I mixed it with Conquer and sprayed as label told me to. Fleas and ants are no more. THANK YOU DoMyOwnPestControl, you saved me a bunch of money and kept my grand baby safe and stoped my pets from the itch.

    End of the line

    By Keith on 12/25/2010

I am a landlord and I had a house with fleas so bad that when you entered the house fifteen minutes later my legs were covered with hundreds of fleas. I tried store bought foggers and sprays - don't waste your money. I purchased Archer IGR and Conquer and used one ounce of each in a gallon sprayer, sprayed once a week for two weeks and the problem was solved. GREAT STUFF!!

    The BEST for Fleas....EVER

    By Kim on 09/08/2010

    Verified Purchase

This is one time where I feel compelled to review for the benefit of everyone who is experiencing flea infestations. My poor indoor dog was constantly scratching and biting herself raw. She suffers various symptoms when topicals are applied and I am loath to expose her to those chemicals. I live in SW Florida and the fleas were horrendous this spring. I spent a fortune and nothing worked. I found this website and discovered Archer Growth Regular and Conquer (instant knock down). Used these two in combination for everywhere inside and out. Additionally, treated the yard with Bifen (granular long term). WOW...within just a few days all fleas GONE. That was May 1st. I treated with everything again 3 months later. I have seen 2 fleas since May 1st. BRAVO, Archer, Conquer & Bifen!!!! BTW, all other bugs are dead too. I fired the pest control people and do it myself for a fraction of the cost now with ten times the results.

    Excellent results

    By Sean on 05/07/2010

    Verified Purchase

We are using this product for the control of: DESERT COCKROACHES, SCORPIONS, CRICKETS, and EARWIGS. Very low odor that dissipates within five to ten minutes. Leaves no visible residue when mixed and applied as recommended. We are using this product with ONSLAUGHT insecticide, and since starting this regimen every three months, our results have been fantastic. Our cricket problem is actually not a problem any longer!

Sort Questions
Q
How much Archer IGR would I need to treat one acre of land?
A
The usage rate will depend on the insect you are trying to treat, but you will either need 1 or 2 ounces of product per 1,000 sq ft. Since there are 43,560 sq ft per acre, you will need 3-6 bottles of Archer IGR if you actually want to treat the entire acre. Most pests require that you only treat targeted areas, for example if you were treating for fleas you would only need to treat moist, shady areas and areas where animals spend a lot of time.

Q
Would using Suspend SC and Archer work for indoor and outdoor use?

I am trying to find the best combination for my cat flea problem. I've read Suspend SC and Archer are good products. I would like to know if I can use them in a mixture together? Will they work outdoors and indoors? Are there any other products you would recommend instead of Suspend C and/or Archer?

A
Suspend SC would not be a good choice for indoor flea control because it can not be used over carpeted areas, it must be kept to cracks and crevices only. A better choice would be Tengard SFR in combination with the Archer IGR. These products can be mixed together and used both indoors and outdoors for flea control.

Q
Once the product dries, is there any toxic effect to people?

I read the MSDS sheet, and I could not find any information on once the product dries or if it continues to have the same warnings as in liquid form. Also, nothing about reactivity of the product if it becomes wet. Thank you.

A
No. As with most insecticide products, the danger is when the product is liquid. People (except for the applicator) and pets should be out of the area while the product is applied, and they can safely re-enter the area after the product has dried. Archer will not re-constitute once it has dried.

Q
Will my dog get sick if she chews on mulch that has been sprayed with Archer IGR and Conquer?

My concern is that one dog likes to occasionally chew on the wood mulch (and acorns that fall into that area). Is this a health concern for the dog?

A
In most circumstances the dog would have to ingest a lot of the treated mulch and acorns for there to be a health risk. Once these products are diluted and sprayed there is only a very minute amount of the active ingredients applied, only enough to have an effect on an insect.

Q
Can I use Archer IGR with a hose end sprayer? How much would I need for 1/4 acre?

I run a doggy day care with about 1/4 acre of yard. I want to apply the product quicker than with a gallon sprayer.

A
You can use Archer IGR in a hose end sprayer. You will need to apply 1 ounce of Archer IGR per 1,500 sq ft. You can mark of a 1,500 sq ft area, add the appropriate amount of ArcherIGR to the hose end sprayer and then spray until the container is empty. The exact amount of water you use isn't very important, you just need to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,500 sq ft. In areas with thicker, denser vegetation you will need to use a bit more water to help the product get to the soil where these pests harbor. One bottle of Archer IGR should be enough for at least 2 treatments on a 1/4 acre property.

Q
How should I apply Archer IGR and Tengard SFR for chiggers outdoors?

I just purchased some Archer IGR and And some Tengard SFR for my CHIGGER problem. Can you tell me when is the best time to apply each product to where I kill all adults and any eggs from hatching? I know I apply the SFR termiticide and insecticide first. But I am not sure when I need to apply the Archer IGR to keep the eggs from hatching. Also how long should I wait before doing another round of treatments?

A
Tengard SFR and Archer IGR can be mixed into the same gallon of water and sprayed at the same time. Both products can be used every 14 days outdoors. You should note that neither Archer IGR nor Tengard SFR are labled for use on chiggers and may only provide you with limited results. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge.

Q
Do you carry a product similar to Archer IGR but in an insect fogger type form?

We have always tossed insect foggers underneath our house to rid/prevent the buggers because the space is too small and cramped. A person would need to roll around down there while laying flat on a skateboard if they were to spray insecticide manually! But after reading the positive reviews on this product we would like to know if you carry such a similar product with same effectiveness in can form.

A
Archer IGR does not come in a fogger form.  We do have a product intended for fleas and it does have an IGR like what Archer is, and is in a fogger form.  The product is called Precor Plus Fogger.

Q
Does Archer effectiveness break down on dog beds after washing them in the laundry?

I just bought Archer to address an indoor flea problem. I will apply to dog beds but want to ensure it will still be effective if I launder them in water/soap a few times over the next several months. And, if I apply it to wood floors, will Archer still be effective after I've cleaned them with water/soap based products? Thank you.

A
If you wash an item with soap and water that has been treated with Archer you will be washing away the product as well and will need to reapply it. It is recommended that you wash the items or areas first, then spray Archer and let it sit in place for at least two weeks before you wash it away.

Q
Which IGR is best for my home with both wood and carpet floors; I have an infestation.

I had flea busters come 5 weeks ago and we still have fleas and one orange cat.

A
Archer IGR and Precor IGR are the most popular IGRs for flea treatments and either one would do a great job for you. You should note that even with the best flea treatments it can take a few months to totally get rid of the flea infestation.

Q
How much archer and conquer per gallon of water for fleas outdoors?

I just wanted to know the ratio of archer and conquer to 1 gal of water for treating fleas in my yard, also ants. I have a 1500 sq ft yard am using a hand held gallon pump sprayer.

A
This question is kind of tough if you only have a one gallon hand pump sprayer to apply the product.  When treating fleas in the yard you should water the product in.  You should apply 1 ounce of archer IGR per gallon of water and for conquer, you are supposed to apply 1/3 fluid ounces (or 10 ml) in 6 gallons of water and apply this over 1000 square feet.  Best way to do this is to just mix 1 ounce of Archer IGR, and 1/3 oz. of conquer in your gallon of water, apply that over 1000 square feet, and then water in with a few gallons of water over your yard so that solution gets into the thatch layer where the flea larvae or residing.

Q
Can I use Archer IGR this for ornamental treatment?

It appears the label does not allow for any kind of plant application unless considered a perimeter treatment (ie adjacent or next to a structure). Is this correct? We are currently considering this as an addition to our barrier treatments for mosquito resting places. (arborvitaes, shrubbery, ornamentals, etc.) But although Demand can be sprayed on this kind of vegetation, it appears this cannot? Is this correct?

A
The Archer IGR product label does say that you can spray any where mosquitoes or other target pests spend time breeding or resting (please see product label for restrictions when using by a natural body of water). We contacted Syngenta, the manufacturer, just to be sure as the product label is a bit vague. They did say that you can use Archer IGR in lawns, landscape plantings and on ornamentals and in outdoor residential settings which pretty much covers any where you needed to apply Archer.
