Award II Fire Ant Bait is a great product to control fire ants. Landscape examples include commercial, residential, public and industrial buildings; recreational areas and parks; playgrounds; schools; and churches. It is safe for use around citrus, walnut and almond trees in landscapes. Can also be used in commercial nursery production of container grown and field ornamentals and non bearing trees. Award II Fire Ant Bait works by containing an oil in the bait that attracts fire ants. Worker ants take the bait and takes it over to the mound where it is passed to other workers and then to the queen ant. This product is a slow acting stomach insecticide which will slowly kill the ants. When it reaches the queen, it will cause the egg production to quickly end and terminate the colony.

WHEN TO APPLY
Apply when ants are actively foraging (mainly when soil temperatures are greater than 60 degrees F (15 degrees C) ). Apply after rainfall or dew has dried for max results. For best results, do not apply if rainfall is anticipated within 4 to 6 hours after applying.
For citrus, almond and walnut trees, apply in the spring prior to planting and make annual treatments every year.
Allow 7 to 10 days after applying before using a contact insecticide. This will allow worker ants to have time to spread bait through the colony.
Retreatment can be applied 3 to 4 months after first application.
