    Q
Thick Bermuda grass at base of tree, how to use BioAdvanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules?
Can I dig 3 inch trench to pour granules into? If I spread on surface my Bermuda grass will absorb product before it ever gets to tree roots.
    A

Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II should only be applied as directed on the product label.  If you have thick grass in the area we would recommend mowing the day before application and heavily watering the area in well after application to push the product down into the soil more.  Also be sure to remove any thatch layer in the area.

    Q
Is BioAdvanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules harmful to ladybugs?
    A

The product label for BioAdvanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules does not list ladybugs as an insect controlled or any precautions regarding ladybugs. This being a systemic insecticide applied at the base of the bushes, trees, and shrubs and not a foliar spray application to the foliage, branches or trunks, this would not affect ladybugs through contact if walking on the leaf surfaces.

    Q
Can Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules be used in potted ficus plants to treat whiteflies immediately?
    A

The BioAdvanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules is a great option for systemic and long term control of whiteflies on plants, however it will not provide immediate results. You also will still need to water this product in for the roots to absorb it and treat and protect the plant. You can use a watering can, bucket, etc to achieve this.

If you need immediate knock down of plants on the ficus you would want to use something like Fertilome Neem Spray with Py which will provide contact kill and about a 7 day residual. You could mix up a 1-2 gallon tank sprayer worth and spray the foliage until wet to achieve fast results.

    Q
Fungus on Black Hill spruce tree, too late in year to apply Bayer?
    A

Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Potect and Feed II Granules is to treat for insect control.  We would recommend using a fungicide like Ferti-lome Liquid Systemic Fungicide II on your tree.  You will apply 1/2 to 3 tablespoons of Ferti-lome Liquid Systemic Fungicide II  per gallon of water for trees and shrubs. Fertilome Liquid Systemic Fungicide II is not labeled to be used as a systemic soil drench. If you are looking for a product to use that way we would recommend Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide. This can be used as a soil drench at the base of the tree, foliar spray, by soil incorporation, through basal bark treatment, and as a bare root dip.

    Q
Will BioAdvanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub help my rhododendrum bush? Leaves going yellow buds dead
    A

There could be two causes of the leaves turning yellow on your roses, a disease or some sort of insect. If it is an insect, Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules may help with the yellowing if it is labeled to kill the insect that is causing the leaves to yellow. If it is a disease, you would need to get the disease identified and apply an appropriate fungicide. Prior to purchasing any products, I'd recommend trying to identify if your issue is an insect or disease first to be sure you are purchasing the appropriate type of product.

    Q
Will the BioAdvanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules impact Cicadas?
    A

Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules will not work for cicada killer wasps nor is there a systemic labeled for them.  icada Killer wasps thrive in disturbed environments, such as landscaped yards and places where bare soil is exposed. You can discourage the wasps from nesting in your yard by cutting your grass on the highest setting and by adding a thick layer of mulch to flower beds during the Cicada Killer Wasp season. These wasps do not like over saturated lawns either, so over watering during their season will help prevent them. Unfortunately, there is no fool proof way to prevent cicada killers. You could dust directly into their burrows with Delta Dust for current infestations and/or Bifen IT, which can also kill the cicada killers that come in contact with the treated areas but would need to come in contact with it for a sufficient amount of time to be affected by it, and does show limited results

    Q
Will Bio Advanced 12 Month Protect & Feed work on Euonymus scale?
    A

Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules is labeled for scales in general but is not labeled for Euonymus scale specifically. If scale is already present a systemic application may not work quick enough to provide control and stop damage, so a foliar treatment with a product like Talstar P or a product containing neem like Triple Action would be needed.

  • Asked by Belinda from Los Angeles, Ca
    01/08/2021
    Q
How do I estimate the amount of BioAdvanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules to apply to ficus hedge?
I have a 12 foot high ficus hedge with trunks ranging 2 to 4 inches in diameter every 1 to 2 feet apart. When using instructions, the amount to apply seems preposterously large. With estimated average circumference of 9 inches (3 inch diameter trunk), instructions ask for slightly more than 2 cups (2.25 cups) per tree. With 60 trees, this works out to over 120 cups. Is this calculation correct or should we apply a different amount to shrubs with overlapping roots?
    A

Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules is more for small home owner applications and would be very expensive over larger areas as those rates are correct for trees.
