WHEN TO USE
Excellent All-season Grub Control
By Prestonbroadmore11 on 05/31/2014
Shh- I was recommended this brand over the Scott's brand for grub control from a Scott's sales rep checking product stock at my local Lowes. Excellent grub control for season long use and excellent surface insect control. I have my yard professionally core aerated at the end of May and time the application of this product at the same time. This product not only kills insects but comes with turf builder too. Once applied let it sit for 24 hours then water in. Take a sprinkler and a regular coffee cup and let the sprinkler run until half the coffee cup is filled with water. That way you know you watered it in correctly.

Controls fleas effectively
By C on 03/25/2014
I have used this product for 2 years in the summer months. It effectively controls the flea outdoors. Our neighborhood is home to numerous feral cats and there are about 8 the come to my back yard that I feed. Before I used this product, I could literally see the fleas hopping from the ground, walkways and all over the outside of my house. At one time, I look down on my bare legs and literally had dozens climbing up my legs. that sent shivers down my spine. I decided to try the Bayer Complete Insect Killer that year and behold, after a couple of days, all the fleas were pretty much gone. even the oudoor feral cats were scratching less. I've been using this produce in the hot summer months and it has been a success. I live in California where the summers are dry so I don't have to reapply.

Used as a bordering repellent
By Anonymous on 06/26/2013
I tried multiple liquid insect/flea control products, but since I live in Florida it's challenging to find something that's effective to stand up to the brutal temperatures & Summer rains. I got these granules to put around the border of our back porch to keep the fleas/insects from getting on us. (We don't have any pets.) I followed the instructions & it seemed to work fairly well until the heavy rains came & washed them out. In this case I have to reapply. Still, at about $25 a 10 lb.bag vs. $30+ for an ineffective liquid it seems to be my only alternative. I imagine it will be more effective when the Summer rains subside.

Killed 'ed them dead
By Kenneth on 06/15/2018
After calibrating my Even Spread rotary, the product dispensed evenly and cleanly. I haven't seen any grub damage either in sod lifted (racoons looking for a meal) or dead spots. I put it down the last few days of May so I am hoping for protection through August when I may have to refresh the application or use Sevin in early September. My suggestion on calibration is to use a kitchen scale (by one for your garden use-don't take from your kitchen) and load the recommended amount for 1,000 sq ft. Lay out a 1,000 foot plot on your lawn. In my case it was 1lb. Set your spreader a little bit below the recommended amount so you don't run out. When done, tweak the spreader so you have the proper application for this product.

Yes, Bio Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf is labeled in general for ants and contains the non repellent active ingredient Imidacloprid which works great for Carpenter Ants.
Per the product label for ants, apply 1 to 3lbs per 1000 sq ft using a rotary or drop type spreaders to apply granules evenly over the lawns, flower beds, ground ocvers and around trees/shrubs.
View our How to Get Rid of Carpenter Ant Guide for more information
Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf is not labeled to kill fireflies. There is really no product labeled specifically to kill fireflies but you could take a look at Suspend SC, it is labeled for flies and other varieties of flies.
You can't walk in our yard without being swarmed by gnats. Will this at least kill the larvae in the lawn to end the life cycle of these pests?
Bio Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf is not labeled to kill gnats. Using Bifen IT mixed with an IGR should provide you relief. Bifen IT is to be used inside and outside the home, but will only kill the adults as the larvae is protected in its egg form much like a chicken egg is protected until cracked. To control the larvae you would need to mix the NyGuard IGR(birth control) in with the Bifen. NyGuard is labled for fungus gnats as well as a large variety of other insects to sterilize the adults from being able to lay viable larvae. This will control the population drastically in keeping new ones from developing. You should mix 1 ounce of Bifen with 4 ml of NyGuard IGR to each gallon of water you use. Bifen IT can be used as a broadcast over the entire lawn or just as a perimeter treatment. You will want to focus on the mulch bed area and the underside of shrubs, bushes, or trees in the area. Bifen IT is completely safe to spray on ornamentals. In the garage area, spray as crack and crevice and focus on damp areas.

Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf - Granules should NOT be applied in areas where there will be animals grazing. Per the manufacturer, the animals would not be allowed to return to the treated area for 90 days if applied already.

When using a product like the Bio Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf you would need to keep it outside of the dripline of the fruit trees. This would normally mean giving at least a 5-10 foot buffer between where you use the product and where the dripline of the tree starts.
Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf is labeled for outdoor use only. If you have any health issues, it is always recommended to consult your doctor for advice on whether it is safe to apply this or any other product.
If no, what is the risk? What can be done if it was applied?
Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf is not labeled to be used in areas edibles will be planted or on/around edibles. If it was applied to the area, it would be best to wait at least 1 year before planting edibles in the area and consuming any edibles. Or remove the treated soil and replace completely with untreated soil to plant sooner. Anything that is currently growing that is edible would need to be discarded.

If earthworms come into contact with the area treated with Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf, they could be affected the same way other insects will be affected but are pretty protected with the mucus on their bodies. Typically earthworms tend to stay several inches below the surface and remain hidden away from insecticide applications, but if they do end up surfacing in treated areas they will be eliminated. For the most part, insecticides are not selective.
