    Q
What is the best pesticide to use for indoors and outdoors?
My pest control person I had used to spray some pesticide that would kill almost everything. I liked it because it would kill roaches from neighbors trying to come over and would find them all around my fence after spraying the perimeter and ants/spiders and you could spray it on plants, shrubs, trees, and around the lawn.
    A
We would recommend using Bifen IT. It is a general insecticide that can be sprayed around the perimeter of your home outdoors, on flowers, trees, shrubs, etc. It is not labeled to be sprayed on any type of edibles. Bifen IT can also be sprayed indoors around the cracks and crevices and baseboards. It lasts for up to 90 days indoors and 30 days outdoors.

    Q
We have Noseeums in the car can we spray the carpet
    A

Indoors, Bifen IT is only labeled to be used as a crack and crevice to baseboards, corners, storage areas, closets, around water pipes, doors and windows, behind and under refrigerators, cabinets, sinks, furnaces, stoves, the underside of shelves, drawers and similar areas. Bifen IT is great for outdoor control of Noseeums.

Along with vacuuming the carpeted areas daily, using a product called Microcare will provide you with a fast knockdown and kill flying insects which will give you immediate relief.

You can read our article on how to treat Noseeums here.

    Q
    Bifen IT for Springtails
I purchased this product from you at the end of last summer. I own a split level home and I have springtails crawling around on my basement floor and on the wood above the sil plate. Anyway I mixed 2 oz of bifen it to a bit less than 2 gal of water and sprayed. In less than 2 hours I have springtails crawling directly over the area that I sprayed with no ill effects. So? This is actually the 2nd time that I've sprayed. The first time the same thing occured.
    A
Bifen IT is labeled for springtails. Depending on how healthy the springtail is and how long it spends on a surface treated by the Bifen IT, will depend on how long it actually takes for each individual one to die. It could be hours or even a day. Also, if you are not treating the main nest, and only the satellite colony, you are only be temporarily fixing your problem. More will appear as they continue to migrate and you will need to fix the moisture issue in your home that is attracting the springtails as well. Until the moisture is gone or the main nest is found and eliminated, you will have an ongoing battle with the pest.

    Q
Is Bifen IT safe around lake house perimeter?
    A
Bifen IT would be safe depending on how close the house is to the actual lake as it is toxic to aquatic invertabretes so you would not want to happy where drift or runoff could go into the lake. If you are closer to the lake and runoff could be an issue, Essentria IC3 would be a better product. Essentria is safe to use around aquatic life and it will work great for mosquitoes and many other insects.

    Q
In a 15 gal sprayer can I mix Bifen IT with a weed and feed and spray just once to save time and water?
    A
Yes you can mix Talstar with most weed and feeds successfully for the most part. Most weed and feeds will have a small section on doing a test "tank mix" so you can test to make sure the products will blend together without issue. We do recommend doing a test tank mix to be sure the products will mix together without separating.

  • Asked by Donna from Soddy Daisy, Tn
    05/13/2016
    Q
Will the Bifen IT kill the redworms in my yard or make the worms poisonous to my birds if the eat the worms?
    A

We are not sure what type of worm would be considered a "red worm" as you have described.  If you are referring to earthworms, Bifen IT is not labeled for earthworms, because they are a beneficial but it may cause harm to them if they contact a treated area.  Though they are pretty protected by the mucus on their bodies. This small amount of product needed to kill tiny insects would not be enough to harm a bird if they were to ingest a worm that would have contacted the product.

    Q
How often do I need to treat my yard with Bifen IT?
If I have an acre of land how much do I need?
    A
Unfortunately you did not mention what pest you are trying to treat in your yard so we can not be very specific. The Bifen IT label does say that you can repeat applications as often as every 7 days outdoors but most customers do not repeat applications more than once a month for most pests. Again the usage rate of Bifen IT will vary greatly depending on what type of pest your are trying to control. The Bifen IT product label recommends 0.25-1.0 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft for most pests outdoors. You can find the usage rate tables starting on page 12 of the product label.

    Q
Is Bifen IT recommended for springtails? If not, which product is best for this pest?
Spring tails mostly appear around baseboards. Home is on a slab. Would Delta dust be more effective?
    A
Spring tails can be tough to eliminate because they reproduce very quickly. In almost every case where people have spring tails they also have a moisture problem such as a leaking or sweating pipe, poor ventilation in their crawl space, lots of wet mulch right up next to their house, etc. You must locate and correct the moisture problem to get rid of the spring tails, insecticides alone will not do the job. We do carry Bifen L/P granules and Bifen IT liquid, both of which can help you to reduce the numbers of springtails.

  • Asked by Mike from Houston ,tx

    Q
Is Bifen safe to use around asthma patients?
I have family members that have asthma , will Bifen IT affect them after it dries ?
    A
Since different people can have varying reactions to the same chemical there is no way for us to be able to say for sure that any one person will not have a reaction to a specific insecticide. We can say that we have never had a report of any type of reaction to the Bifen IT when used as directed on the product label. Be sure the person with asthma is out of the area while the product is being applied and they can come back when the area is completely dry. You may also want to contact the asthmatic persons physician prior to the application just to be sure there will be no issues.

  • Asked by Yuri from Columbia, Sc
    10/22/2011
    Q
I have a small pond inside my house. Is it ok to apply this product inside my house?
I have a small fish pond inside my house. I know this product shouldn't be applied very near to it, but I'm wondering it if I applied it inside my house, on areas not directly adjacent to the pond, and somehow a contaminated bug ended up inside the pond while it's dying, is this product so highly toxic to fish that this would be dangerous for them?
    A
You can apply Bifen IT indoors so long as you make sure none of the spray winds up in the pond. The very small amount an insect may have on its body should have no effect at all on anything in the pond. If contaminating the pond is still a concern for you there is a product called Essentria IC3 that can be used around water without worry of hurting any of the aquatic animals you may have. Essentria IC3 is a broad-spectrum natural insecticide that works just as well as the synthetic insecticides but without the aquatic toxicity issue.

  • Asked by Tim from Sacramento, California
    12/19/2011
    Q
Should I use ant bait (both gel and granular) before applying Bifen IT to get rid of sweet ants?
    A
We recommend using the bait products first and then following up with the Bifen IT. If you spray the Bifen IT in the same place as you use the baits you will make the baits less appealing to the ants and you risk the bait not getting back to the colony because the ants could die too quickly.

    Q
Does Bifen IT work on "blister bug"?
We had these in our garden last year and sprayed for them once, but didn't go back and do it again for the eggs.
    A
You didn't mention what type of garden you have. Is it a flower garden or a vegetable garden? If it is a flower garden Bifen IT should work very well to help eliminate the blister beetles. Bifen IT is not labeled for use on edible plants. If it is a vegetable garden you will need to use a product that is labeled for use on edible vegetation such as Sevin or Natural Guard Insecticidal Soap. Be sure you read the product label of the product you choose before purchasing to make sure the plants you need to treat are listed. Product labels are on individual product pages under the picture of the product. You should also note that we didn't find any products that were specifically labeled for blister beetles so we recommended products that eliminate general garden pests. When pests are not specifically listed on product labels it is usually because these pests do not damage enough crops as to be agriculturally significant.
