    Q
Should I use Bifen XTS or Onslaught in the hot climate on my yard to treat for rat mites?
Bifen XTS (with oils) and Onslaught do not specify what type of mites it can treat. I have onslaught which I know u prefer; But because of the heat/ sun/ UV rays the Bifen with oil based will hold up and not break down. Which product should I use for rat mites? I'll be mixing with Nyguard.
    A

We cannot guarantee that these products will work for rat mites. There has not been enough study on them with these products to gaurantee you results to treat specifically for these type of mites. Oil base prodcuts do however tend to hold up well outdoors and also offer a suffacant for any insect directly sprayed for a faster kill.

Bifen XTS would be the better product to use since it is an oil base product that will tend to hold up well outdoors.

    Q
How Effective is Bifen Against Grasshoppers?
Bifen XTS u claim doesn't repel but kills within 24hrs of contact so how is this effective for protecting my gardens & trees if it's doesn't REPEL & only kills n the 1st 24hrs of contact as bugs will continue to attack my plants? I've also struggled w/grasshoppers & finding a product that will kill them & protect my plants. Also u state rainfall/UV determines length of coverage I also assume sprinklers as well? Is there documentation that explains how or when u will need to reapply? i.e. re-apply after 10 rainfalls
    A

Bifen XTS has a 4 - 8 week residual, depending on the amount of rain and UV rays that the area gets.  Typically, Bifen XTS as well as many other liquid insecticides only need about 30 minutes to dry. Once dry, they can hold up to rain rather well. If you are experiencing heavy rainfall daily, then I would suggest you wait to apply Bifen XTS when no rainfall is expected within 24 hours. You can reapply this product as needed for control of the grasshoppers.  It will kill the grasshoppers within 24 hours of them having contact with the Bifen XTS.  For more information on protecting your garden from grasshoppers please read this article written by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

    Q
How long before I should notice a difference in Mosquito's after spraying?
I sprayed my yard today with Bifen IT. This evening, the mosquitos are worse than they have ever been! THOUSANDS of them on my covered deck and I sprayed it down good! Is this normal?
    A

Neither Bifen IT or Bifen XTS are true repellents that keep mosquitoes or other bugs away away, but it will kill those that come into contact with a treated surface long enough to receive a lethal dose.  Key with mosquitoes is to apply to the underside of the leaves of trees/bushes where the adults lay during the day as well to the grass for added protection.  After doing this you could notice a difference within a few days.  To better repel mosquitoes and a few others you can use something like the Mosquito Barrier or Mosquito X Ultra.

  • Asked by Sharon from Maryland

    Q
Can I use Bifen XTS for crickets, ants and springtails indoors?
    A

Bifen XTS can be applied outdoors only. Bifen XTS is labeled for springtails and should do a great job for you outside.  Bifen IT is labeled for interior crevice applications for springtails, ants, crickets and other insects.. Depending on how healthy the springtail is and how long it spends on a surface treated by the Bifen IT, will depend on how long it actually takes for each individual one to die. It could be hours or even a day. Also, if you are not treating the main nest, and only the satellite colony, you are only be temporarily fixing your problem. More will appear as they continue to migrate and you will need to fix the moisture issue in your home that is attracting the springtails as well. Until the moisture is gone or the main nest is found and eliminated, you will have an ongoing battle with the pest.

  • Asked by Jon from Oklahoma City
    07/01/2018
    Q
Can you mix Bifen XTS with Talstar or Tengard to make it stronger?
    A

There would be no valid reason for mixing Bifen XTS with Talstar P or Tengard.  Mixing 2-3 insecticides together does not make either stronger and can contaminate an area making it highly repellent so that insects will avoid it and neither can do their job of killing the insects.  If you want a faster knockdown product, you can add something like Exciter.
