Bifen XTS is not labeled for any type of lice. Martins Permethrin 10% would be a better option for poultry lice, used as directed on the product label.
Bifen XTS does have an odor, but this should subside as the product dries.
Unfortunately, there is no easy solution when it comes to oak beetles. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with a synthetic pyrethroid like Bifen XTS. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations. You should contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best time to start spraying in your region.
Yes, To treat for Japanese beetles, you will mix Bifen XTS at the rate of 0.07-0.15 oz. per gallon of water and apply every 30 days as needed.
Bifen XTS used to be one of the better products for termite prevention but since the non repellents like Termidor came out it is not the recommendation. Bifen XTS only kills those that contact a treated area and can last only 5-7 years in the soil. Termidor will last for 10 years or more and will have a transfer effect so you can get more complete control of the colony below ground from those that pick it up.
Bifen XTS is an outdoor insecticide only and is not labeled for bedbugs. We recommend that you treat with one of our Bedbug Kits. Please find detailed information on treating for this insect in our How to Get Rid of Bedbugs Article.
Bifen XTS can be applied as directed monthly to the exterior listed areas. It is best to apply as a preventative. For additional information on timing in your area, you can contact your local cooperative extension office.
You can apply Bifen XTS any time before or after seeding. Just keep in mind that if you are disturbing the soil by dethatching or aerating, then we recommend you do that soil alteration before spraying rather than after.
To treat ornamental plants for whiteflies, you can use 0.26 – 1.28 oz of Bifen XTS per 10 gallons of water, per the product label. The rate at which you set your hose-end sprayer will depend on what settings are available, although this is a pretty low rate per gallon of water with the highest rate being 0.128 oz per 1 gallon of water. 1 gallon of water usually treats about 1000 sq ft of turfgrass, so it will likely treat less area if you are treating dense ornamental growth. Be sure you are treating all the leaf surfaces until they are wet but not to the point of runoff.
Bifen XTS is mixed at 0.32 - 0.64 oz. per gallon of water depending on the pest you are treating. For a 3 gallon sprayer, you will mix 0.96 – 1.92 oz. for the entire 3 gallons of water. Please review the product label for further application instructions.
Taurus SC and Bifen XTS cannot be mixed together. Taurus cannot be used on lawns at all. You can mound drench with the Bifen as directed on the product label.

The Bifen XTS, Bifen I/T, and Bifen LP Granules are all great choices for outdoor treatments of springtails. They are typically the most common to be used and show great results on the populations. Occasionally customers will use a product like Tempo SC Ultra to try and drench soil sections where they suspect springtail nests to be located in the yard or around concrete areas such as patios/walkways/driveway, etc. Tempo has a slightly faster knock back of insects with the ingredient it contains, but the overall residual control would be the same as what you are familiar with using. Continue to try and reduce moisture as much as possible and pick up debris that they could nest within or under.
Bifen XTS would not be safe on playground equipment surfaces that people come into contact with. You should only treat on the ground around the areas while no one is in the area during application then until dry, typicaly after 4-6 hours.
Bifen XTS cannot be used on vegetables. You can see our full range of products that can be used in your garden by following this link: Edible Garden Products
We would not recommend using Bifen XTS at temperatures over 85 degrees as this is an oil based product and can burn plants it comes into contact with under extreme heat. We recommend spraying in early morning or late evening.
We do not have any products labeled for this use including Bifen XTS so we are unable to advise you on it.
When using an insecticide, it is recommended that you keep pets and/or other animals out of the area while the product is being applied. Once Bifen IT dries, it is safe for animals, such as turtles, to return to the area.
One of our roach control kits would be recommended for roach control. These professional kits includes non-staining, low odor concentrated insecticide for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc. You'll also get Roach Bait Gel to help get rid of those roaches that like to hide. Baits can be applied up high in the kitchen in the corner of cabinets and in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. The bait contains a slow-acting poison that attracts and kills feeding roaches, who also spread the bait to other roaches by contact or by sharing food. Finally, an Insect Growth Regulator is offered which will stop roaches from laying eggs, helping to halt the infestation. The combination of an IGR with roach bait is a highly effective roach control strategy that is widely used by pest control professionals. The insecticide must be applied with a 1 gallon pump sprayer.
