    Q
Can Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf be used to kill termites?
    A

Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf states on the product label that it will kill workers and winged reproductive termites that come into contact with treated areas.  Use of this type of product alone to kill termites should not be considered a substitute for soil treatment of subterranean termites.  You can use Termidor SC to prevent termites from infesting your home. If a colony moves in, this product will eradicate them by transfer kill. We have a guide here that would be helpful.

    Q
Will Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf harm earthworms?
    A

If earthworms come into contact with the area treated with Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf, they could be affected the same way other insects will be affected but are pretty protected with the mucus on their bodies. Typically earthworms tend to stay several inches below the surface and remain hidden away from insecticide applications, but if they do end up surfacing in treated areas they will be eliminated.  For the most part, insecticides are not selective.

    Q
Where did you read that the ground has to be dry before application of the Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf?
I did an application today and the bag did not say the ground had to be dry. I got it out of the trash to read it again after reading that comment, and it did not say that.
    A

Per the manufacturer, Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer for Soil & Turf only requires 1/4 - 1/2" of water after application which the ground readily absorbs and this activates the product.  If you apply the granules to an already saturated ground, then it won't be able to absorb the additional necessary water required to activate the product.  They recommend that you apply this product to dry soil for best results. If you would like to speak with the manufacturer directly, you can reach them at 1-877- 229-3724, for additional information.

    Q
Will Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turk kill whipworms?
my dog is eating the dirt in the lawn and getting whipworms then has to go to the vet.
    A
Unfortunately there are no products on the market to kill or control whipworm eggs in the soil. There are few options for you but here they are: 1. remove the first  4"-6" of soil from the entire area the dog uses and replace with new soil and reseed with grass. 2. Keep the dog on Interceptor Heartworm preventative which also keeps whipworm eggs from developing into parasites in the dog. 3. Keep the dog away from the infested area for at least 5 years and alsways pick up feces every couple of days from the new area to stop the new area from becoming infested.

  • Asked by Lynn from Chicago, Il
    06/02/2021
    Q
Does Bio Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf kill fungas gnats?
You can't walk in our yard without being swarmed by gnats. Will this at least kill the larvae in the lawn to end the life cycle of these pests?
    A

Bio Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf is not labeled to kill gnats. Using Bifen IT mixed with an IGR should provide you relief. Bifen IT is to be used inside and outside the home, but will only kill the adults as the larvae is protected in its egg form much like a chicken egg is protected until cracked. To control the larvae you would need to mix the NyGuard IGR(birth control) in with the Bifen. NyGuard is labled for fungus gnats as well as a large variety of other insects to sterilize the adults from being able to lay viable larvae. This will control the population drastically in keeping new ones from developing. You should mix 1 ounce of Bifen with 4 ml of NyGuard IGR to each gallon of water you use. Bifen IT can be used as a broadcast over the entire lawn or just as a perimeter treatment. You will want to focus on the mulch bed area and the underside of shrubs, bushes, or trees in the area. Bifen IT is completely safe to spray on ornamentals. In the garage area, spray as crack and crevice and focus on damp areas.
