You should always have kids and pets inside the home or away while you are treating.  After the treatment is done it is perfectly safe for children and pets to be back in the yard.  Remember that these granules are only strong enough to kill small insects.

    How long before and after it rains can Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer for Soil and Turf be used?

    The ground needs to be dry before applying Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer for Soil & Turf - Granules. The product needs to be down for at least an hour before it rains.     There is no seeding time restriction when applying the Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf - Granules but since it has systemic activity if you want to protect any new grass you would also want to apply it after the new seed has started to grow and developed a good root system to absorb the product.

    Will the Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer for Soil & Turf kill Cicada Killer Wasps and their larva?

    The Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer for Soil & Turf is a granule product and is not labeled for anytime of flying insects.

    Cicada Killer wasps thrive in disturbed environments, such as landscaped yards and places where bare soil is exposed. You can discourage the wasps from nesting in your yard by cutting your grass on the highest setting and by adding a thick layer of mulch to flower beds during the Cicada Killer Wasp season. These wasps do not like over saturated lawns either, so over watering during their season will help prevent them. Unfortunately, there is no fool proof way to prevent cicada killer wasps.For prevention you can try to use a granular insecticide such as Talstar PL  Granules in the couple of weeks before this pest is known to emerge. For current infestations, you would need to use Delta dust in each individual burrow.


    We also like to let our customers know that the Cicada Killer wasps are beneficial insects that provide free pest control for a couple months each year. Cicada killer wasps paralyze and provision their burrows with other insects to feed their young.  The beneficial Cicada killer wasps, while large and intimidating to see, are mostly harmless and there have been very few reports of anyone getting stung by just being near them. In most cases where a sting was reported, the wasps were being held or molested in some way. Cicada Killer Wasp stings are also reported to be almost painless.

    Per the Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf product label, you must water the product in thoroughly immediately after application. After the application has dried, you should not water again for at least 24 hours.

    Does this product have negative affects on birds or small animals?

    Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf should not have ill effects on birds and other animals when it is used as directed on the product label. It is possible that you will see less of some small animals however as many of these animals are there to feed on the insects you will now be getting rid of and it is very possible that the animals will move on to better hunting grounds.

    How do I measure out granules of the Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf?
    On the bag it indicates that I will need to put 3 pounds of the granules into my spreader. How do I measure out 3 pounds? I was thinking of using a 1 cup measure, but I need to know how many cups of granules equal 3 cups.

    Can I delay watering after application of Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf for gypsy moth control?
    Soon I will have many gypsy moth eggs hatching in my yard that have been brushed off the trees. I have approx. 1 acre to treat. Can I apply and wait for rain for the 'watering in' or must I water immediately after applying

    Per the Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf product label you must water in thoroughly after application.  You can apply maybe the day before rain or the morning of expected rain, but no further after that.

    I allow my horses access to the lawn for grazing. If I treat my lawn with this insect killer, trying to get rid of fleas, can the horses safely graze?

    Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf - Granules should NOT be applied in areas where there will be animals grazing. Per the manufacturer, the animals would not be allowed to return to the treated area for 90 days if applied already.

    How does your product work on fleas and their stages around the outside of the house and dog run?
    A
    Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf - Granules works well at killing adult fleas. However, the Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf - Granules does not have an IGR (insect growth regulator) to stop the reproductive cycle. Fleas have a rapid life cycle and reproduce very quickly and that is why an IGR is such an important component of a flea control treatment. For outdoor flea treatments we would recommend using the Outdoor/Indoor Flea Kit. The kit includes 1 pint of Onslaught Insecticide and 1 x 4 oz. bottle of Martins IGR to stop flea growth and reproduction.  We've included these products because they are easy to use, effective, and safe to use in your yard and inside the home. Both products are concentrated and need to be mixed with water before use.  You can apply the mixed solution with a pressurized hand-held sprayer or a hose-end sprayer.  This kit provides enough product to cover a typical yard (1/4 to 1/2 acre).

    Can Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf be used to kill termites?

    Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf states on the product label that it will kill workers and winged reproductive termites that come into contact with treated areas.  Use of this type of product alone to kill termites should not be considered a substitute for soil treatment of subterranean termites.  You can use Termidor SC to prevent termites from infesting your home. If a colony moves in, this product will eradicate them by transfer kill. We have a guide here that would be helpful.

    Does the ground have to be dry to apply the Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf for lawns ready to spray?

    Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf can be applied to damp ground, but it's not recommended to apply to overly saturated ground, since the product must be watered in following the application.  Overly saturated ground will not absorb the product and could potentially cause runoff to unintended areas.

    Will Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf harm earthworms?

    If earthworms come into contact with the area treated with Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf, they could be affected the same way other insects will be affected but are pretty protected with the mucus on their bodies. Typically earthworms tend to stay several inches below the surface and remain hidden away from insecticide applications, but if they do end up surfacing in treated areas they will be eliminated.  For the most part, insecticides are not selective.

    Where did you read that the ground has to be dry before application of the Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer For Soil & Turf?
    I did an application today and the bag did not say the ground had to be dry. I got it out of the trash to read it again after reading that comment, and it did not say that.

    Per the manufacturer, Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer for Soil & Turf only requires 1/4 - 1/2" of water after application which the ground readily absorbs and this activates the product.  If you apply the granules to an already saturated ground, then it won't be able to absorb the additional necessary water required to activate the product.  They recommend that you apply this product to dry soil for best results.
