    Q
Can I use the Bonide Systemic insect control to prevent insects from damaging my trees?
How many times a year should I spray them?
    A

When using the Bonide Systemic Insect Control the insects need to be present or actively feeding inititally for this product to work. You would use this 2 to 3 times waiting 7-10 days between each spray. You do not specify what type of insect you are trying to prevent. If you could give us a little more information we could possibly recommend a product that could be more appropriate.

  • Asked by Glenn from Colonial Heights
    10/30/2018
    Q
When should I start and end using Bonide Systemic Insect Control to control mites in Dwarf Alberta Spruce?
    I live in Central VA.
    A

In general, mites on ornamental plants cannot be treated using systemic insecticides. Bonide Systemic Insect Control contains the active ingredient acephate, so it is labeled for two-spotted spider mites only when applied as a topical spray. Per the product label: Spray when insects are present or when feeding injury is first noticed. For hard to kill insects, such as flower thrips, gladiolus thrips, mealybugs, scales, two-spotted spider mites, and whiteflies, spray 2 to 3 times, waiting 7 to 10 days between each application. Repeat if re-infestation occurs.

You can browse other products for spider mites here. To avoid mite resistance, you should rotate between at least 2 products with different modes of action if you need to treat more than 2-3 times in a row.

  • Asked by Kristie from Clinton
    05/29/2021
    Q
How often should I spray Bonide Systemic Insect Control for a heavy scale problem?
I have a very large Honeylocust tree with scale infestation. I sprayed once all over. How often should I reapply and when? Is there any other treatment option?
    A

Per the product label for Bonide Systemic Insect Control:  For hard to kill insects, such as...scales...spray 2 to 3 times, waiting 7-10 days between each application. Repeat if reinfestation occurs.

  • Asked by Louis from Madisonville
    06/11/2021
    Q
Do I mix Bonide Systemic Insect Control as per directed and then pour around the base?
Treating plants and flowers or do I have to spray them? I'm thinking a systemic is taken in through the root system and therefore should not have to be sprayed on the flower and plants, am I correct on this assumption?
    A

According to the Bonide Systemic Insect Control label instructions, you spray both sides of the foliage thoroughly and for some applications, you will need to also spray the soil beneath the plants. Please refer to the product label for complete instructions.

How and when would I use Bonide Systemic Insect Control to kill Tulip Tree scale?
Can you use this simultaneously or in conjunction with the drench? I've already applied a systematic drench.
