Can Southern Ag Chelated Liquid Iron be applied by drenching the soil around my Japanese Fern?

I have a yellowing Japanese fern tree that was planted one month ago. If using 1 tbsp per gallon of water, can I just pour it into the soil around the base of the tree to add the right amount of iron to prevent this issue?

Answer:

According to the label, Southern Ag Chelated Liquid Iron can only be applied as a foliar spray for trees and is not intended to be applied as a soil drench.  Fertilome Chelated Iron EDDHA 6% Water Soluble is designed to be mixed with water and poured around the base of flowers, vegetables, ornamentals, plants in containers, lawns, trees, and shrubs.
