Casoron 4G is a selective pre-emergence herbicide that prevents many variety of weeds and grasses. Casoron 4G controls weeds before they emerge from the ground, by forming an herbicidal vapor barrier in the upper layer of the soil when activated by rainfall or irrigation water. Casoron 4G should be applied before weed seed germination and emergence from the soil (usually from mid-winter to early spring). A single application will usually provide season-long weed control. Casoron 4G is designed to PREVENT weeds and will not assist in controlling existing weeds.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Perennial Weed Control
Apply CASORON 4G as a soil surface treatment in late fall from November 15 to February 15. Old weed growth should not be removed before application. Do not make surface application to areas which have been cultivated during the fall or summer prior to application.
Annual Weed Control
Apply CASORON 4G either in early spring before seeds of annual weeds germinate or after cultivation has removed the growing weeds. Distribute granules uniformly over the soil surface. If treatment is followed by application of 1/2 to 1 inch of water by overhead irrigation, the lower rates are recommended. Shallow incorporation immediately after application is recommended in southern areas. In other areas, shallow incorporation or sprinkler irrigation is suggested when applications are made during periods of high temperature.
Nut Sedge Control
CASORON 4G can be used for control of nutsedge in non-crop areas only. Apply recommended rates and incorporate immediately to a depth of 4 to 6 inches. Seasonal control of annual weeds will also be obtained with this application.

This was a gift sent to my son to rid the hill from weeds and having to maintain each spring, but I used this product in Montana when my home had small gravel surrounding it. Spread this all around as spring was arriving and NEVER were there any weeds growing all around my home or down the driveway. Everyone wondered how I did that!!

Casoron was spread on our vacation lot at Ocean Shores, WA 30 days ago as a prevention for new weeds. There are random weeds and grasses that had already emerged all over the lot. My 7 month old Golden Retriever puppy mouths everything. He will pull weeds and shake them, pull at branches of woody shrubs, and sometimes eat long grasses in the treated area and nearby areas. Is it safe for him to be in this area. Package says no livestock grazing for 12 months??

There's another product by Lilly Miller with the same ingredient that's sold as a vegetation killer at 2% and I've used it as a vegetation killer in the past, so I'm a bit confused.

Will this also kill vegetation? Dichlobenil 2% is also sold by a major brand as a vegetation killer, but then sold also as Casoron as a preemergent only. I find this confusing. I would like to a product that does both actually.

If so, which month is best to apply? The Caseron does not last an entire year. I know you need to put it down before the weeds begin to grow again, but I'm hoping we don't have to apply it twice a year. It sure helps prevent weeds growing; which saves on Roundup usage. Thank you for answering the question and any advice you might have.
