  • Asked by Stan from Murrells Inlet Sc
    03/22/2021
    Q
how soon after applying Celsius WG Herbicide can I reseed with centipede seed?
    A

The Celsius WG Herbicide Product Label does not list a specific seeding interval for centipede grass like it does other grass species, however we would recommend giving the same time frame between application and seeding as it suggest for bermuda and zoysia. You would need to wait 90 days after an application of Celsius WG before putting down centipede seed. Otherwise if you seed first, you would need to give at least 3-4 weeks before applying Celsius, and ideally the new grass should have come up and been mowed at least twice if possible.

    Q
Can Celsius WG Herbicide be spot sprayed to St. Augustine that was planted a month ago?
    A

If the new St Augustine lawn has started to become established or been mowed at least once you can carefully spot treat with the Celsius WG on the newly laid sod. Anytime herbicides are used its best to wait 4-6 weeks or until the grass has been mowed 1-2 times.

  • Asked by Linda from Charleston Sc
    04/25/2021
    Q
What is the mix rate per 1000 sq ft of Celsius WG Herbicide for spot treating Virginia Buttonweed in St. Augustine turfgrass? How often do I retreat?
    A

Celsius WG Herbicide is applied at 0.113 oz per 1000 sq ft for Virginia Buttonweed on St. Augustine lawns.

For spot treatments, mix 0.057-0.113 oz (1.6-3.2 g) of Celsius WG Herbicide per gallon and apply until weeds are wet. One gallon of spray solution will treat up to 1000 sq ft. Per the product label, a second application of this product may be needed for control. If weeds are showing signs of recovery, make a second application 2-4 weeks after the first.

  • Asked by Brad from Saint Paul, Mn

    Q
I mistakenly applied Celsius WG Herbicide as a spot treatment to my Kentucky Bluegrass lawn thinking this selective herbicide was safe. Is my lawn certain to die?
    A

Since Celsius WG Herbicide is not safe for cool season turfgrasses per the product label. It would be difficult to say for certain to what extent the inury could be to your lawn. Factors such as the mix rate that is was applied, weather temperatures and the overall health of your turfgrass If your turfgrass does not recover from the treatment, you can try reseeding after 28 days otherwise you would want to wait 90 days to reseed those areas.

  • Asked by Patty from Gainesville, Fl
    05/01/2021
    Q
Will Celsius WG harm beneficial insects (butterflies, caterpillars, bees, etc.)?
Is it toxic to humans & pets?
    A

People and pets should be out of the area while applying Celsius WG Herbicide until it has a chance to dry completely. This normally takes 4-6 hours depending on weather.  While it is not an insecticide to kill insects, they could be injured if sprayed directly. It would be best to apply when they are not in the area, early morning or later in the evening.

    Q
Made a mistake and sprayed Celsius on my cool season turf
68 degrees lawn was mixed with warm season turf applied 4.9 /a 1 day ago
    A

To decrease the effects of Celcius WG Herbicide injuring the lawn, you could have possibly used an activated charcoal product within hours of the application and watered the area a lot. At this point, it may be too late, and only time will tell. We would recommend watering the area very well and contacting the manufacturer (Bayer) directly at 800-331-2867 for more information.

    Q
Can Celsius herbicide cause fungus in St. Augustine lawn?
Our pest guy tells me that the herbicide he puts down (Celsius) can cause a fungus growth in St. Augustine grass. I am skeptical! I've had brown areas many times after he puts down Celsius. He kills my grass but not the weeds. What's going on?
    A

Celsius Herbicide should not cause fungus in your lawn when used as directed on the product label. For more information, we would recommend contacting the manufacturer (Bayer) directly at 800-331-2867.

    Q
Sodding following application of Celsius WG Herbicide
I applied Celsius to a lawn area we plan to renovate. I plan to remove all existing turf and weeds and plant palisades zoysia. I have read the label thoroughly, specifically the section regarding seeding following an application. I can not find an interval period for sodding. Can you advise me on how long I should wait
    A

With an herbicide like Celsius WG and many others, if sodding is not stated specifically on the label we recommend waiting at least 3-4 weeks after an application of Celsius before putting down the new zoysia sod.

  • Asked by Arthur from Fort Lauderdale, Fl
    06/14/2021
    Q
Once the Celsius WG Herbicide has dried, it is harmful to cats that may eat the grass or weeds where it has been applied?
    A

In general the Celsius WG Herbicide is safe for people and pets so long as you keep them out of the area while applying the chemical, and until the product has had plenty of time to dry (normally a few hours). If your cat has any sensitivities we would recommend consulting your vet, otherwise the cat should be safe to eat the grass as long as its dry.

Can the contents of Celsius WG Herbicide be divided and stored in a sealed mason jar or similar airtight container?

  • Asked by Mark from Youngsville, Nc
    07/20/2021
    Q
My back lawn 80% weeds using Celsius to kill how soon can I rake and plant new seed I got told 3-5 days
    A

The seeding interval will vary depending on what type of turf you have.  To rake you should wait until the weeds are completely dead. You should review the product label for specific directions for your turf. For example:
"Seeded Bermudagrass: This product may be applied to Bermudagrass up to 90 days prior to seeding without a significant reduction in Bermudagrass stand."
"Seeded Zoysiagrass: This product may be applied to zoysiagrass up to 90 days prior to seeding without a significant reduction in zoysiagrass stand."
