CELSIUS WG Herbicide is a post-emergent herbicide designed to tackle a broad spectrum of tough weeds in warm-season turfgrasses. Containing three active ingredients, this foliar-applied weed killer controls more than 120 annual and perennial broadleaf weeds and grasses. Celsius herbicide delivers effective weed control in St. Augusitinegrass, Bermudagrass, Centipedegrass, Zoysiagrass and Buffalograss.
Coming in an easy-to-use wettable granular formulation, Celsius WG Herbicide needs to be mixed with water before applying. It can be used on residential lawns, commercial lawns, golf courses, sports fields, parks, campsites, recreational areas, roadsides, school grounds, cemeteries, sod farms. Celsius can be used to control weeds such as dollarweed, doveweed, crabgrass, Virginia buttonweed, dandelion, bull paspalum and many more.
After applying Celsius weed killer, weed growth ceases within a matter of hours. The weeds will progress from yellowing or turning red or purple to necrosis, resulting in the plant death within 1 to 4 weeks after application. The speed of symptom development varies with temperature and will be faster at warmer temperatures. For best results to control mature weeds, you should apply Celsius WG when the daily average temperature is above 60° F. Applications of Celsius Herbicide should be made to actively growing weeds. Weed control may be reduced if applications are made in the presence of heavy dew, fog, and mist/rain or when weeds are under stress due to drought.
Dallisgrass: Please note that Celsius herbicide is labeled for suppression of dallisgrass only and can only be used for dallisgrass when tank mixed with another herbicide such as MSMA or Revolver (which are not for residential use).

This matches the label rate of 0.057–0.113 oz (1.6–3.2 g) per 1,000 sq ft.
Focus on applying the correct amount per area, not exact water volume. Always read the label and follow all instructions before applying. Add a non-ionic surfactant for better control of tougher weeds.
The exact amount of surfactant to use depends on the specific product. Always use a non-ionic surfactant with Celsius WG for best results. Check the surfactant label for the exact mixing rate.
Surfactants help the herbicide spread and stick to weeds, improving control, especially on tougher species. Using the right surfactant rate alongside Celsius WG helps maximize performance and ensures more effective post-emergent weed control.
Most weeds begin to show control in 1-4 weeks, depending on the species. Results may take longer if weeds are stressed (drought, heat, etc.).
For best results, allow the spray to fully dry before irrigating. Avoid applying Celsius WG during rain, heavy dew, fog, or mist as these conditions can reduce effectiveness.
Celsius WG Herbicide has been tested and can be used on the following types of turfgrass and their cultivars:
Other turfgrasses and their cultivars may be tolerant to this product. However, tolerance testing should be done prior to use. Some temporary discoloration of certain warm-season grasses may occur when this product is mixed with other herbicides.

People and pets should be out of the area while applying Celsius WG Herbicide until it has a chance to dry completely. This normally takes 4-6 hours depending on weather. While it is not an insecticide to kill insects, they could be injured if sprayed directly. It would be best to apply when they are not in the area, early morning or later in the evening.

Our pest guy tells me that the herbicide he puts down (Celsius) can cause a fungus growth in St. Augustine grass. I am skeptical! I've had brown areas many times after he puts down Celsius. He kills my grass but not the weeds. What's going on?
Celsius Herbicide should not cause fungus in your lawn when used as directed on the product label. For more information, we would recommend contacting the manufacturer (Bayer) directly at 800-331-2867.
Do I need to wait a certain amount of time before I can let the dogs back into the yard?

In general the Celsius WG Herbicide is safe for people and pets so long as you keep them out of the area while applying the chemical, and until the product has had plenty of time to dry (normally a few hours). If your cat has any sensitivities we would recommend consulting your vet, otherwise the cat should be safe to eat the grass as long as its dry.Â

The label does not limit the use of Celsius to temperatures below 85 degrees. There are cautions about using surfactants and also a note about the possibility of Celsius causing temporary stunting of St. Augustine grass in hot weather. If you read some of the popular lawn forums they actually claim Celsius works better the hotter it gets.
As long as the temperature during the application of the Celsius WG Herbicide  is not 85 degrees or above, then it does not matter what temperature it reaches mid day. The best time to apply herbicides is either early morning when dew is still fresh on the ground or late afternoon when the lawn and weeds are under less stress from the environment. Temperatures over 85 degrees will cause extra stress on your desirable turf, possibly causing damage.

Pulled Buttonweed, but some seeds dropped and see others. What is your recommendation?
Celsius WG Herbicide is a post-emergent so therefore it would not effect the seeds, it would only effect germinated seeds. If you are looking for a pre-emergent. You can consider Pendelum 2G Herbicide and verify with your local extension office for optimal timing for prevention on buttonweed in your area.Â

When do I need to stop using it?
The best time to use Celsius WG Herbicide or any other herbicide will depend on where you are treating and the specific type(s) of weeds you need to treat. Most post-emergent herbicides will be most effective when the target weeds are young actively growing. If you need help with identification or determining the best time to apply, you can call your local cooperative extension office and ask to speak to the master gardener on staff and he/she should be able to help you.Â
