Totally worthless
By James on 06/19/2018
Not one star, but ZERO stars! Unfortunately, the review program would not let me submit unless I gave it at least one star. However, if I could give negative stars, I would give it a negative 5. The Chapin Backpack 4 gallon sprayer (63980) I received from DoMyOwn is totally worthless. It leaks profusely at the bottom. Once the sprayer is turned on it pumps more liquid out the bottom (around where the battery is installed) than it sprays out the nozzle. In fact, 2.5 gallons of liquid insecticide lasted only 5 minutes as it literally spewed the liquid out the bottom leaving huge puddles while hardly spraying anything from the nozzle. This was a total waste of money!!! The only positive note is that the battery is a keeper as I have other Black and Decker 20 volt products that I can use the battery for. The sprayer is going out for trash pickup tomorrow - I'm keeping the battery. Considering the $130 price tag, that's a lot to spend and only receive a battery. The rest is trash.
Expert response:
I'm sorry that you are having trouble with your sprayer. I see one purchased from us in May of 2017. Since this is outside our 90 day window, you would need to work with Chapin directly to correct any issues with the sprayer. There are some troubleshooting tips regarding leaks on page 9E of the product manual here:
https://www.domyown.com/msds/m_63985.pdf
Based on the general area, it appears you may just need to tighten a clamp and/or replace an o-ring. We always recommend contacting Chapin for assistance with leaks or other concerns if you are unable to fix the issue. You can reach them at 800-950-4458.
The replacement o-ring kit for this sprayer can be found here (if needed):

Sprayer is light. works well but battery is awkward
By Jeffrey on 06/25/2016
My unit came and the motor was poorly installed. It was crooked and the battery would not slip on. Pretty poor quality control. I took it apart and re-positioned it. Took about 10 minutes. Annoying but it's okay now. I'm happy it has a brass nozzle. Those plastic ones are awful. Just awful. It is very light. The top is sturdy and has a handle built in which is a great idea when you don't want it on your back like for spraying under a deck. It does not shoot as far as i thought it would. I fully charged the battery and it goes about 12 feet. Horizontal. I'd like to know how the other reviewer got 30 feet high! I left the battery on accidentally and it died over night. Charge is not a fast charge IMO. No where does it say how long the charge is and I didn't pay attention the first time other than i know it was hours. I'm going to search for a replacement battery so I have two. I wonder if they make a larger battery to get a little more power out of it that fits. It would be nice if they said what battery line fits this sprayer. All in all this sprayer is so much better than a pump sprayer. The motor and battery add negligible weight and it's very simple to use. I'm glad i bought it.

Nice but strap buckle broke on first job
By Jeff on 09/04/2016
This makes spraying a lot easier - almost fun. The battery lasted two full containers and still had enough left to flush fresh water. My issue is the strap. The front chest level plastic buckle failed on my first job. The plastic side of the buckle actually broke and let the straps out. I patched it together and completed. Then I ordered a commercial grade strap designed for the Solo. It works well. Without the buckle issue, this would get 5 stars from me.

Well worth it
By Colin on 07/28/2016
I own a greenhouse business and this is the best sprayer I've come across. Light weight, high pressure, long battery life, comfortable. The only issue I had was it leaked when I first got it, just needed to pop off the plastic guard and tighten all of the hose clamps, problem solved. I would highly recommended this sprayer to anyone! What a time saver!

commercial contractor
By Spectrum on 04/04/2017
I absolutely love the sprayer I am a commercial contractor and really appreciate not having to keep pushing the handle for pressure. It is fabulous for a homeowner. If you or the manufacturer would make a stronger tank frame and backpack straps I would gladly pay 3 times the price I like it that much. Great product but some contractors just need a more industrial sprayer. all said I love the thing just hope it hope it holds up to commercial use. You have a great start keep up the good work.

Just say No to hand pumps
By Jeff on 07/09/2016
Very nice. Pros The battery weighs nothing ( as in very little) It's small and so is the pump which also is pretty light. The nozzle is brass. I HATE the plastic ones. The top is nice and strong, wide and easy to open and use. The strainer is well made and also easy. It is so easy to use and saves tremendous time. Cons The straps are cheesy and not all that comfortable It takes some getting used to, to find the switch when it's on your back Worst thing, if you forget to turn it off, the battery drains overnight. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it. It saves time and bending over to pump.
