How far does the Chapin Slide Pump Sprayer reach? A second story home?
    A
This backpack sprayer only reaches about 10 feet high.  For higher areas we recommend the Chapin Slide Pump Sprayer which can reach up to 30 feet high.  We also have a video that shows the slide pump sprayer in action on the slide pump product page.

    Q
    Does is drip/leak?
Almost every sprayer i've had leaks or drips chemicals in my trailer. Makes cleaning out the trailer rather pointless. Will this one leak if I leave chemical sitting in it, and it sitting in my trailer? Thanks!
    A
You cannot store chemicals in sprayers as it will weaken the gaskets and other portions of the sprayers and cause leaking. Leaving chemicals in sprayers for more than 24 hours at a time will also void any and all warranties offered by the manufacturers. For short term use (for a few hours) stored product in the sprayer should not leak out as long as the sprayer is kept upright.

    Q
How do you add pressure to the backpack sprayer?
Most sprayers have the pump on the lid.
    A
Hand held sprayers have the pump on the lid that you hold.  If you notice in the picture there is a rod that extends from the bottom of the pack.  On backpack sprayers since you where it on your back, the rod extends out from your side and you pump the rod up and down to pressurize the tank.

  • Asked by Miles from Statham
    02/28/2021
    Q
What's the flow or application rateof Chapin Pro Series 4 Gallon Backpack (#61800)?
Is there a gallons per second rating or something similar for this sprayer? Or how do I determine how much product is being applied per 1000 square feet for something like dimension herbicide?
    A

The Chapin Pro Series 4 Gallon Backpack (#61800) is hand pump, not battery or engine operated, so there is not a set volume of product per seconds when using this type of equipment. The speed at which the product comes out will partially be determined by your ability to pump it up and create pressure in the tank. In general, you would mark off about 1000 sq/ft of area in your yard and spray with just water in your tank and walk as normal across this section. However much water you used during this is how much you will know you use per 1000 sq/ft going forward with applications based on your walking speed and what you feel sufficient coverage is for your treated surfaces. On average you will use about 2 gallons of water per 1000 sq/ft for a pre emergent application, but you may find you use a little less or more. You can view our video on How to Calibrate your Sprayer to see this explained further.
