Unfortunately, there is no way to set the Chapin Wet/Dry Hose-End Sprayer easily to 1 oz per gallon of water. You will have to read the label of the product you want to use and see how many gallons you'll need per the square footage you need to treat. The video on the product page can help better understand the setting method or you can contact Chapin at (800) 950-4458.
Taurus SC can only be applied 1 to 2 feet up and out around buildings and a hose end would have a wider application range than that. It is only allowed to be used against the foundation of the home 1-2 feet up and 1-2 feet out and around window and door frames. If you were looking for a product for control of insects in your lawn, you need to use an insecticide like Talstar P. Its one of our top general insect control products that works well on ants, spiders, mosquitoes and hundreds of other bugs. You can use it in your dial sprayer and set the sprayer to 1oz per gallon of water.

You did not mention what herbicide you are trying to use in the Chapin Hose Wet/Dry Hose-End Sprayer? so we are unable to accurately answer your question. You can put herbicides in the hose end sprayer as long as the usage rate can be calibrated on the sprayer to what the herbicide product label states, specifically something like 1 oz per gallon. Most herbicides do not give a rate like this and state amount of product per 1000 sqft and the amount of water you use is not important or set as the water only acts as a carrier. For this reason we do not usually recommend using herbicides in hose end sprayers because it can be tough to accurately gauge how much product you sprayed and many herbicides demand you be precise with the application or you could experience damage to desirable plants or grasses.

When using a hose-end sprayer to apply insecticides, herbicides, etc., it is important to keep in mind that the water is just a carrier of the active ingredient for you: it is most important to use the correct amount of product for the area that you are treating. We generally recommend to use at least 1 gallon of water per 1,000 square feet when using a hose-end sprayer. For example, if you are treating 3,000 square feet with a product that says to use 2 oz per 1,000 square feet, then you would use 6 oz of your concentrate in the sprayer reservoir, and then you could choose either the 3 gal mark/setting or the 6 gal mark/setting. We also have a video on the 6005 sprayer product page to help you.
