The numbers on the top dial indicate how much water you will apply with the concentrate that you put into the sprayer reservoir. The larger numbers are in Liters, and the smaller number is in Gallons.
First, you need to determine how many gallons of water you will be using. To find out how many gallons of water you need to use you will calculate the square footage of the area to be treated (Most insecticides recommend 1 gallon of mixed solution 1,000 sq feet). For instance, if you have a 6,000 square foot yard that you plan on treating then you would need to multiply 6 x 1 which equals 6 – You would then add 6 oz of Demand CS to the reservoir. Once you add the desired amount of insecticide to the reservoir, then you would add water to the line selected (6 gallon line mark on the reservoir). You would then set the dial on the top of the Chapin Hose End Sprayer to 6 gallons. Do not turn water on when adjusting the spray nozzle. Next, select the desired spray pattern and then spray until the reservoir is empty.
It would be tough to translate an application ratio like that with any hose-end sprayer, including the Chapin 6005 Hose-End Sprayer. You would need to figure out how much total solution you need and then work backwards to get the correct amount of product for the total volume of water that you plan to use. The minimum amount of water that the Chapin Wet/Dry Hose-End Sprayer is designed to use on any application is 3 gallons. So if you had 3 gallons of water (384 ounces), then you would need 76.8 ounces of your concentrate using a 5:1 ratio, which is too much to fit into the reservoir of this sprayer. We would suggest using a hand pump sprayer such as the Chapin Premier 1 gallon Sprayer 21210XP so that you have more control over exactly how much solution and water you are using.
You will add .32 fl. oz of Bifen XTS per gallon of water. For six gallons, you will use 1.92 fl. oz. of product, fill the reservoir up to 6 with water if the product does not reach that point, attach the hose end sprayer to the hose, set the dial to six and then turn it on and spray. This will treat 6000 square feet.
You do not need to water your lawn after applying this product.
Water soluble granules such as the MiracleGro All Purpose Plant Food can be used in the Chapin Wet/Dry Hose-End Sprayer #6005 when used as directed on the product label.
Let's say you want to make and spray 57 liters/15 gallons of properly mixed product. The manufacturer's label tells you to use .25 milliliter per liter/one ounce per gallon, you pour 110 milliliters/15 ounces of product into the jar. Then you pour water into the jar until the combined liquid level reaches the 57 liter/15 gallon mark which is on the jar. Put sprayer on the jar and be sure the dial is on the correct liter/gallon setting. When the sprayer is empty, you have sprayed 57 liters/15 gallons of properly mixed product.
The Chapin Wet / Dry Hose-End Sprayer #6005 is a good product for broadcasting lawn areas when a hand pump sprayer is not available or preferred. Talstar P is labeled for wasps but is only to be mixed at 1oz per gallon of water per the product label. Wasps need to be treating in the late evening when the wasps will be most likely in the nest resting. You will need to spray the opening of the nest directly or the burrow holes. If you have been using Talstar P for 3 years, it would be time to rotate to another insecticide. Tempo Ultra SC would be a good rotation product and works great for Wasps, Hornets, Bees, etc.
For cool-season turf, such as bluegrass, you should use 2.75 ounces of Bonide Sedge Ender concentrate per 1,000 square feet in ample water to cover the area. If you have 2,000 square feet to cover, we would recommend at least using the 3 Gallon mark and top setting for the Chapin Wet/Dry Hose-End Sprayer #6005. You will first put the concentrate into the sprayer reservoir: 5.5 ounces for 2,000 square feet. Then, you should add water until the liquid in the sprayer reaches the line matching the total number of gallons of water you want to apply. On the top of the sprayer, adjust the nozzle to match the same total number of gallons of water you want to apply.
