Bedbugs can be a tough pest to prevent. Namely because these little insects are notorious hitch hikers, and you could completely seal all possible ways for the bedbug to come from the infested neighbor and still bring some home on your belongings from the movies, the mall or your place of employment. Having said that, you should still do all that you can to prevent having bedbugs come over from the neighbor. You should use caulk to seal any cracks or crevice around the baseboards, window frames, door frames, and around places where vents, cables, pipes or wires come through the wall. You can apply a dust such as Cimexa dust into wall voids, electrical outlets, and switch plates. This will help kill any bedbugs that make their way through the walls. We also recommend thoroughly inspecting your mattress and headboards and bed frame frequently for any signs of bedbugs.
CimeXa Insecticide Dust would only be applied to the cracks of the shelves where it meets the walls and other areas where insects would harbor.
CimeXa will kill adult fleas. As fleas come into contact with it, the dust literally dries the fleas out causing eventual death. There is not a chemical that can penetrate the pupae lifecycle stage so it is important to vacuum even hard surfaces. We do carry CimeXa along with NyGuard Plus in our Indoor Flea/Tick Kit. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Fleas for more information on a successful eradication program.
Cimexa is safe when used as directed on the product label.
CimeXa Insecticide Dust goes a long way. In each area you are applying, you only need to do approx. 3 puffs of powder. Most homeowners only need one 4oz bottle.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. You are correct that Cimexa should not be applied directly into the electrical box per the product label. The video explains applying to the wall voids behind light switches and around the outside of the electrical box and is a general guide for dust applications, not specific to one product. When you are applying to electrical outlets/light switches you would make sure to not apply inside the actual electrical components, such as where a plug would go into.
It is best to steam then apply CimeXa Insecticide Dust.
Since CimeXa Insecticide Dust will dry back to powder formulation, it can leave a white residue on darker surfaces. You can wipe and vacuum the residue away.
CimeXa Dust is safe for pets when applied as directed on the product label. We would recommend only applying CimeXa Dust in cracks and crevices where it cannot be moved around easily and, thus, exposed to pets. If the dust is visible, then the excess dust should be picked up using a moist paper towel. If you are trying to protect from or check for bed bugs, then we would suggest traps such as the Climb-Up Insect Interceptors used under the bed legs.
Cimexa Dust works very well on ticks. Be sure to only use a light coating of dust so that they will walk through the treated area versus walking around it. The kill time depends on the stage of life the insect is in; They normally die within one week of coming in contact with the treated area. For outdoor use, we would recommend using Essentria IC3 and Archer IGR. Essentria IC3 is a green product that is made with plant oils. Archer IGR is an insect growth regulator; this will stop the lifecycle of the fleas. These products are mixed together and broadcast across your lawn to treat affected areas. This can be done every 21 days as needed. This should only be used outdoors.
For indoor use, the Cimexa Dust in combination with Precor 2000 Plus Premise Spray. This product has an insect growth regulator and a residual for fleas. This can be done every 10-14 days. Be sure to vacuum daily in between treatments.

CimeXa Dust is similar to diatomaceous earth in that it is an all-natural product that does not break down over time. However, CimeXa Dust is more finely processed than most DE products, allowing for very low use rates. CimeXa also works as a direct dessicant, meaning the insects only have to contact the dust for a short amount of time rather than actually moving across it, so it does kill a little more quickly than DE. CimeXa Dust will be effective as long as it is present in the treatment area and remains dry.
Cimexa would be a fantastic option for treating wall voids prior to putting up drywall for long term insect protection on a new home. You can apply it in dry or wet form, whatever is easiest for you as the residual will not change with your choice in application method.
Here are the instructions from the CimeXa Insecticide Dust product label on how to treat furniture: "Treat upholstered furniture by removing or lifting (if possible) the cushions and treating the undersurface. Treat the interior framework, cracks and joints of the furniture, and the folds, tufts and edges of cushions and other upholstered areas."
You can return to an area treated with CimeXa Insecticide Dust after it has settled, typically after 30 minutes to an hour when the product is applied as directed on the label.
CimeXa Insecticide Dust should be used at the same time you first apply Temprid SC as they are applied in different areas but are best used in combination with each other. Beg bug treatments are done every 2 weeks not once a week, until you can go 30 days without seeing evidence or being bitten. We have a great guide the explains How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs.
CimeXa Insecticide Dust is safe if pets are not present during the application, it is used as directed on the product label, and the dust settles prior to their return to the treated areas.
