Criterion 75 WSP is labeled for use on interior plantscapes. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.
Yes, you can use Criterion 75 WSP to treat a birch tree. Per the label, you need to use 1.6 oz (1 packet) per 24 to 48 inches of cumulative trunk diameter. For a soil drench, you need to uniformly apply the dosage in no less than 10 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet as a drench around the base of the tree, directed to the root zone.
Criterion 75 WSP Systemic Insecticide is labeled to control leaf beetles and the active has been shown to be effective on Red Lily Beetles. It would be best applied before they are active in the area as it takes time to be translocated throughout the plant/trees. I did find a helpful guide from our our manufacturers Bonide as well. If they beetles are already active you would use something like Neem Oil or Spinosad.
Criterion 75 WSP Systemic Insecticide can be used once a year as a soil drench to treat trees for wooly adelgid. How quickly this product starts to work depends on how quickly it is translocated through the trees. This could be a few days on very small trees, or it may be several weeks on larger trees. For this reason, we recommend pairing your systemic insecticide with a topical spray for faster results, such as Bifen IT.
Criterion 75 WSP Systemic Insecticide comes in water-soluble packets, so you will need to mix at least one complete packet at a time. For soil drenching, each packet treats 24-48 inches of cumulative trunk diameter. We recommend mixing this in at least 5 gallons of water. If you are only treating one tree that is less than 24 inches in diameter, then we suggest using a liquid concentrate such as Dominion 2L or Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Drench instead.
Criterion 75 WSP Systemic Insecticide is not labeled for targeting subterranean termites. We recommend reading our Subterranean Termite Treatment Guide, which includes details on the two-step treatment process and the recommended products to eliminate an infestation.
Criterion 75 WSP Systemic Insecticide is not labeled for leaf rollers. If you're just looking for a product that can be used around ornamental plants, you can use something like Talstar P, and if there are still beneficial insects around you can just avoid spraying the blooms. You could also use something like Fertilome Triple Action.
When using Criterion 75 WSP Systemic Insecticide to treat trees, each 1.6 oz packet treats 24-48 cumulative inchese of trunk diameter. You could use this product once a year to treat a single tree if the tree is at least 24 inches in trunk diameter. Many people will treat very large trees in the Fall since it could take weeks or even a few months for the product to translocate all the way through the tree. If you only have one or two smaller trees, then a liquid concentrate will be more appropriate. Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Drench is a great choice if you only have one small tree.
Either Criterion 75 WSP Systemic Insecticide or Adonis 2F could be used as they contain the same active ingredient. However Criterion is premeasured packages that need to be mixed with 25 gallons of water, if you do have a way of doing this than the liquid Adonis would be better as it is easily measured for smaller applications.
Criterion 75 WSP is not labeled to control root aphids specifically, and most products on the market do not list them as a target pest. Often customers need to use a pyrethrin product for a contact kill and drench the roots and soil to control any that are present. Criterion is also only labeled for use in interior plantscapes and is not for use in a greenhouse. AzaGuard Insecticide is a great option that is labeled for root aphids as well as indoor greenhouses.
It is not recommended to apply Mallet 75 to anything edible. Sevin Concentrate insecticide kills over 500 listed insects and protects over 250 listed fruits and vegetables.
There is no way to accurately mix down each Criterion 75 WSP Systemic Insecticide pack. You would need to use the whole pouch. You should apply 1 pouch or 1.6 oz of criterion for every 24 to 48 inches of trunk diameter. You should apply the pouch in at least 10 gallons of water to apply the drench. It really does not matter how much water you use, it just matters how much product you are applying over the area. The more water you apply it with the deeper the ground will soak it up. Denser soils such as clay do not accept water as readily, so the lower volume of water is suggested. Since sandy soils can accept more water, using the higher volume of water is preferred.
No, Criterion WSP and Talstar P should not be mixed together in the same tank. They are both two different insecticides and will essentially work against each other since one is a repellent and the other is a non-repellent.
Criterion 75 WSP Systemic Insecticide is applied as a soil drench on trees, shrubs, listed flowers and groundcovers for treating leafminers or as a foliar. Each 1.6 oz pack will be mixed with 300 gallons of water (2.1 oz per acre) for foliar spray. When performing a soil drench, you will want to measure the trunk diameter or shrub height to determine mix ratio. Please let us know if you need anything else.
No, Criterion Insecticide is not specifically labeled for carpenter worms or their larvae. We would recommend checking with your local cooperative extension office for information on what should be used for this pest.
A packet of Criterion 75 WSP Systemic Insecticide has a shelf life of 3-5 years when stored at room temperature.
Criterion 75 WSP Systemic Insecticide may be used as a systemic treatment for many types of borers, however the product label does not allow for injection into the tree itself, only into the soil. To inject insecticide into a tree, you will need to drill into the tree, most likely making it even more vulnerable to insect and disease damage. Each envelope of Criterion 75 WSP contains 4 water-soluble packets which are usually mixed with 25-100 gallons of water, depending on your application. For smaller applications, you can use a similar product with the same active ingredient in a liquid form, such as Adonis 2F.
