    Q
Cy-Kick CS vs Suspend SC: Which product is better for killing scorpions and spiders?
My neighbor says Suspend SC but I have been using Cy-Kick. Also I have 9 mature Queen Palms in my backyard and read scorpions love palm trees, how should I be treating these Palm trees?
    A
While both products are indeed labeled for scorpion control and will kill scorpions most professionals prefer Cy-Kick CS because it is micro encapsulated which helps the product stay up on top of porous surfaces and helps it to hold up a bit better to UV rays and rain. You can spray around the base of the palms and on the trunks to help get rid of any scorpions that are harboring in the trees.

    Q
Does Cy-Kick CS work for booklice inside the home?
    A
The best way to control booklice is by lowering the humidity in the infested areas which in turn will help eliminate the mold and fungus these insects need to survive. Infested furniture and carpeting should be thoroughly steam cleaned and vacuumed. You can spray your furniture with Sterifab to get rid of any lingering insects. Cracks and crevices around baseboards, door frames, window frames and other harborage areas can safely be treated with Cy-Kick Aerosol. You can also follow up with a dusting of Cimexa Dust to help eliminate these pests in carpet and in cracks and crevices around the home.  You cannot spray anything on books so for those we recommend you find a way to heat treat them with a device like the Packtite or you can seal them loosely into bins with Nuvan Prostrips.

    Q
I purchased the IGR concentrate as well as the Cy-kick concentrate to treat the problem of oriental roaches?
I purchased the igr concentrate as well as the cy-kik concentrate to treat the problem of oriental cockroaches. i noticed that in the website it says: "We recommend Gentrol IGR Concentrate to be added to your 2 gallon hand sprayer and sprayed right along with your baseboard chemical ( Demand CS, Suspend SC, or Demon WP) to provide excellent control." does this mean that i can add to the cy-kik too? does this mean to apply together at the same time in the same application? what or how would you recommend i apply this? one at a time? whick first? or together? i must add that i only have a one (1) gallon sprayer. thank u in advance for taking time to answer my question.
    A
Yes, You want to mix 1oz Cykick Cs, with 1oz Gentrol in one gallon of water. You then can apply the mixed solution to the cracks, crevices, where insects may be hiding, living and breeding and/or for selected spot application.

    Q
For Southwest Florida what is the best product to use to spray outer perimeter of house for pest control?
    A
We recommend Cykick CS. This product can be used indoors and out and has a broad spectrum label including spiders, ants, mosquitoes, bees, cockroaches, crickets, fleas, flies, bed bugs, silverfish, ticks, wasps, wood infesting borers and more. When sprayed, Cy-Kick CS creates a thick barrier of microcapsules that is impossible for insects to cross without being exposed to a lethal dose of insecticide. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
    Scorpion Control Product
I spend ridiculous amounts of money on professional pest services and I'm looking for a thriftier way to control pests in these harder economic times. I might be your next big customer. However, I can't skimp when it comes to the safety of my family. That said, we live in South Texas and have a huge Bark Scorpion population. Understanding my concern, how much Cy-Kick CS would be needed to maintain an effective barrier on a 2000 SF home? In other words, how many bottles would I need to order to create the proper mixture and application rate?
    A
Cy-Kick CS will help prevent scorpion infestations of buildings, treat a band of soil 6 to 10 feet wide around and adjacent to the building. Also treat the building foundation to a height of 2 to 3 feet where pests are active and may find entrance. Treat other insect entry points such as doors, windows, under siding and eaves of structure. Cy-Kick CS may be applied in compressed air, backpack or power spray equipment. An application rate of 0.5 to 1.0 fluid ounce of Cy-Kick CS per 1000 sq. ft. is desirable. Apply in sufficient water to adequately cover the area being treated. Application should be made in such a manner to limit dripping and run-off on structural surfaces and plants. Essentially, one pint will give you approx. 16,000 square feet of treatment.

    Q
    Lawn Application?
Can I spray Cy-Kick CS on my lawn for effective control of Scorpions? If not, what would work better. Keep in mind, we have local watering restrictions so any type of water-activated granual is very hard to apply.
    A
Yes, you can definitely spray Cy-Kick CS on your lawn as a broadcast for scorpion control. Cy-Kick CS can be sprayed on most types of foliage safely, with the exception of edibles. You should never spray Cy-Kick CS on any type of edible vegetation. Be sure to pay close attention to debris, lumber, firewood, large rocks, or other materials that could serve as harbor sites for scorpions. If you plan on storing any such materials outdoors it would be best to apply the Cy-Kick CS as a residual spray to surfaces directly underneath those materials. Also, you would want to spray the exterior wall of your house, spraying 2 to 3 feet up the side of the house, and 2 to 3 feet out on the ground to prevent scorpions from invading your home.

    Q
    Application Rate
I've asked a prior question regarding usage rates of CyKick CS. I'm always trying to find a way to eliminate the need for a professional control service. However, I looked at my invoice the other day and realized the technician sprayed almost 15 gallons around my 2000SF home! Keep in mind, this was simply my bi-monthly treatment for Scorpions - no infestation or anything. He uses a "power sprayer" and I'm sure lots of water in his mixture, but how could I duplicate 15 gallons? Does that seem excessive? So as you can tell, it's things like that that make us (the consumer) reluctant to DIY...
    A
For scorpion control, you are always going to use much more product than you would for general pest control. For general insects like ants, spiders and roaches you would only spray 2 feet up and 2 feet out just around the foundation of the home. For scorpions you need a much wider barrier for them to cross to have the product pass through their tough exoskeleton. It normally takes spraying 6-10 feet out on the ground around the home, plus any other landscape harborage areas to control them effectively. Depending on the outdoor elements in your area will depend on whether you will need to treat monthly or every 2-3 months. The Cy-Kick CS is a great option for scorpion control but you will use a fair amount of it to treat and keep your property free of pests. You normally mix it at the rate of 1-2 ounces per gallon of water, and each gallon you mix up will cover roughly 1000 sq/ft, depending on how heavy you wet the surface area.

    Q
Can I use Cy-Kick Indoors (on a boat)?
I have a continual roach problem on my boat I live on in Miami FL. Tried bait traps, foggers, etc. They only work for a while. This stuff seems good, but can I use it Indoors? I have a cat, so I am coincnerned. Also, what restrictions should I seriously consider if it can be used indoors?
    A
According to the Cy Kick CS product label, you can use this in boats and other modes of transportation. You will want to only use it along what would be considered the "baseboards" of the boat and cracks and crevices the roaches could hide in. For extra control consider adding a birth control product to the spray to keep the roaches from reproducing faster than you can eliminate them. You could mix NyGuard IGR into the same gallon of water that you would mix the Cy Kick in and spray them at the same time. You would keep any pets and children away from the treated area until it has dried, and once dry it is completely safe to be around. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Asked by Mike from Cleburne, Tx

    Q
What should we use to control an increase in scorpions inside buildings?
We have had an infestation (10-12 per day) of scorpions in our house after seeing only one or two over the last 30 years. We have heard of neighbors experiencing the same problem here in central Texas. Is there any explanation and what is the best treatment plan (which pesticides and recommended applications) to follow?
    A
The Cy-Kick CS is our number one product for scorpion control. You have to create a wide barrier with it around your home, much more than you would for regular insects as scorpions exoskeletons are harder to penetrate. You would spray 3 feet up on the side of the home, and 6-10 feet out on the ground, all the way around the foundation. Be sure to spray around window and door frames, as well as any other entry point the scorpions could use like areas where pipes enter the home. Anywhere around the home that you might have landscape mulch or rock is going to be a prime harboring area for the scorpions so be sure to saturate those areas and get under the mulch where they can hide. You can spray the Cy-kick inside around baseboards and cracks and crevices so that if they make it past the outside border of the home there is more insecticide waiting on them. To try and cut down the risk of getting stung in case they make it indoors, put down glue boards to catch them on around baseboards and doorways. As for the increase in population, it is mostly due to the fact that weather and conditions across the US have been prime for these type of pests, as well as others that they feed on, to grow and multiply rapidly. When conditions are moist and right due to heavy rains and warmer than normal winters like we have had, it is normal to see a huge surge in activity, especially for this year.

    Q
    Product Compatability
After Cy-Kick CS is applied to my perimeter, will it effect the product's performance if I use an over-the-counter lawn treatment as well? There could be some overlap of active ingredients as a spray the yard. The product I'm using has .016% Lambda Cyhalothrin. I'm treating my home for Scorpion control.
    A
These two products should have no effect on the other so overlapping of the two would be fine for scorpion control. Make sure for scorpions you treat 3 feet up on the side of your home and 6-10 feet out on the ground at least.

How do I get rid of crickets in my basement?
They have been in the basement since Oct. I would say i kill at least 3 per week.
    A
To eradicate crickets, you want to use a residual spray like Cy-kick Cs. You want to do a perimeter treatment outdoors, and apply indoors along cracks and crevices, and entry points. You can also use a dust like Delta Dust to apply in wall voids.

    Q
Cykick CSSafe near ponds? If a treated insect dies near or in the pond, can the poison be transferred?
    A
Cy-Kick CS is safe near ponds. Just make sure to apply in areas where there is no run off. Also, the product label states to make sure to apply when there is no chance if rain for 24 hours. After dilution, the mixture is only potent enough to kill tiny insects. If a insect were to come in contact with the solution and then go into the pond, it should not be enough to pose a threat. Please make sure to follow the product label for application.

    Q
How does Cy-Kick CS compare to Cyper WP?
    A

Both Cykick CS and Cyper WP are great products.  When sprayed, Cy-Kick CS creates a thick barrier of microcapsules that is impossible for insects to cross without being exposed to a lethal dose of insecticide. Exposed insects pick up microcapsules on their hairs and body triggering a rapid release of the active ingredient, resulting in death. Cy-kick’s active ingredient Cyfluthrin is a pyrethrin, which means it is user-safe, environment friendly, and less likely to cause skin irritation than other active ingredients. Cy-kick CS is virtually odorless, and will not create a visible residue or stain when used according to the recommended label rate. 16 oz.

Cyper WP (same as Demon WP and Cynoff WP) insecticide is a loose white powder that is mixed with water. It can be applied as a crack and crevice and/or spot treatment for residual and contact control of ants, bees, biting flies, boxelder bugs, centipedes, cockroaches, crickets, earwigs, elm leaf beetles, firebrats, fleas, flies, millipedes, mosquitoes, pillbugs, silverfish, sowbugs, spiders, ticks, and wasps. This product does have the potential to leave a white residue on dark surfaces.

Is it OK to spray an entire sidewalk with Cykick CS?
The product states to treat scorpions by spraying 6-10 feet away from foundation of home. I have a sidewalk that is 2 feet from the house, would it be OK to spray the entire sidewalk to coat with Cy-Kick?
    A
Cy-Kick CS can be applied to sidewalks per the product label: Other than applications to building foundations, all outdoor applications to impervious surfaces such as sidewalks, driveways, patios, porches and structural surfaces (such as windows, doors and eaves) are limited to spot and Crack & Crevice applications only.

    Q
Can I spray Cy-Kick CS on my rock walls that are surrounding my vegetable garden?
I wouldn't spray directly on the vegetables but the rock walls are about a foot away from them.
    A
As long as the Cy-Kick CS was only applied outside of the actual garden area it should not effect the soil or plants inside the garden area. If there is a doubt that some Cy-Kick CS got inside of the garden area you can remove the soil and replace it with fresh soil to avoid any contamination issues or disgard any plants that may have been sprayed.

    Q
Can Cy-Kick CS be used in a fogger?
Can I use the Cy Kick CS in the Fogmaster Jr 5330 to fog under a cabin crawl space to control scorpion infestation?
    A
Cy Kick CS per the product label can not be used in any type of cold or hot fogging device. Using it that way would either alter the effectiveness or clog/break your fogging unit. The Cy Kick CS is definitely the right product to use for scorpion control, however fogging would not be an accurate treatment option for this type of pest even if this product could be used in that application. Spraying under the crawlspace on every area you can reach would be the best way to control the scorpions, as well as creating a barrier around the foundation of the structure to prevent new ones from coming in. When spraying around the home/building for scorpions you will want to create a barrier 2-3 feet up on the side of the structure, and 6-10 feet out on the ground from the foundation. Since scorpions have such thick exoskeletons it takes more treated surface area for them to cross for the product to affect them. Also, try to eliminate any area around the home that create prime grounds for scorpions to thrive. The Cy Kick will not only eliminate the scorpions, but also the insects that they are feeding on as well which will push them to find food sources elsewhere. You can review helpful tips in our guide called Scorpion Pest Control. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Best combination of product to spray foundation around house for scorpions
Looking for the best combination of product to mix and spray into the jtrim and foundation of homes in Arizona to treat and hopefully flood out the scorpions.
    A

Our most popular product for scorpions is Cy-Kick CS, which is microencapsulated so it has a long residual, but also packs a punch.  There are many good reviews on the Cy-Kick page about how it works on scorpions. We also recommend the following to our customers with scorpions for the most complete treatment.

Non-insecticide methods for scorpion control are:

Harborage Removal- Harborage removal is key to scorpion control and will greatly reduce the numbers of scorpions in the area surrounding the structure, making it far less likely that they will enter. Harborage removal includes eliminating piles of lumber, bricks, and other stacked items that create clusters of tight spaces, elimination of vegetation and other heavy ground coverings near homes and buildings, trimming back tree and shrub limbs from walls and roof, and keeping gutters clear of leaves and other debris.

Exclusion- Scorpions and other pests can be kept out of structures to a large degree by installing tight-fitting screens, weatherstripping around doors and windows, and caulking cracks and crevices.
