    Q
Leaf cutter ant nest in my vegetable garden.
I have a new leaf cutter ant nest in my vegetable garden. Can DeltaGard G Granules be used there? If not, can you suggest something I can use?
    A

Leaf cutter ants can be a difficult pest to get rid of. The colonies are large and the ants make their own food so poison baits only have limited effects on this species of ants and liquid solutions will only kill the ants that come into contact with the treated areas. We recommend using ? Maxforce Complete Granules inside? Ants No More Bait Stations in your garden area.. Maxforce Complete contains hydramethylnon which is effective, though they will usually eliminate only about 30% of a large colony in one treatment and will need to be reapplied several times. DeltaGard G Granules would also be a recommended product. The product label recommends treating the mound directly and lightly watering the granules in. These products should NOT be applied around your fruits and vegetables. They can be applied 10 ft outside the dripline of the garden. We also recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations for products that have worked for other people in your region.

    Q
Is DeltaGard G effective against blister beetles? If not, do you have a product that is effective?
They come out once/year in Sep/Oct until the first freeze. The only thing that works is spraying Raid ant and Roach spray directly on each one.
    A

DeltaGard G is not specifically labeled for blister beetles. We do carry other products that can be used (be sure to check product label for details on your specific area of treatment and application ratios, etc.

    Q
There are two products on your site recommended for leaf cutter ants - which should I use?
    A
Leaf cutter ants can be a difficult pest to get rid of. The colonies are large and the ants make their own food so poison baits only have limited effects on this species of ants. According to several university websites Maxforce Complete Bait Granulescontaining hydramethylnon are some what effective, though they will usually eliminate only about 30% of a large colony in one treatment and will need to be reapplied several times.  Deltagard granules is one of the only products actually labeled for leaf cutter ants. The product label recommends treating the mound directly and lightly watering the granules in.

    Q
Bad scorpion problem at our home, will DeltaGard G work well?
    A
While Deltagard granules are not labeled to kill scorpions directly the product will help get rid of many other insects which the scorpions use as their food source. When the other insects are gone the scorpions will naturally find your property less favorable and will move on to better hunting grounds or face starvation. Cy-Kick CS on the other hand should be used as a barrier spray around your home and any scorpion that ventures onto the treated area will be killed. By using these two products together you will be putting together a strong scorpion control program. Controlling scorpions will require a combination of both chemical and non-chemical measures. Please take a few minutes to read our article Scorpion Control to learn more ways to make your property less favorable to scorpions.

  • Asked by Jai from Fullerton, Ca

    Q
Can the DeltaGard G Granules be mixed with water?
Can I spray the mixture of water and granules on the perimeter of house? If I can, what is the ratio of water to granules? I want to stop ants and other insects from entering into the house. Thank you.
    A
DeltaGard G Granules are not meant to be mixed with water, they are an insecticide granule that is broadcast outside and then watered in.  For perimeter barriers you would need to use a concentrated product like Suspend SC.  Suspend SC Insecticide is a suspended concentrate containing Deltamethrin, the same active ingredient as the granules.

    Q
Will Delta G granules work for ground wasps? How would you apply it since they burrow underground?
    A
Delta G Granules is labeled for digger wasps. Broadcasting the granules with a hand spreader may stop some of the activity but you will usually still end up with some activity that must be treated by applying 1 to 2 teaspoons of granules in and around each individual ground nest opening. We recommend making the application at dusk when wasps are not active.
