Product Overview

Dylox is only active and kills for 48 hours. Dylox should be watered in for at least 1 to 1.5 hours for best results to ensure the product makes it through the thatch layer to where the grubs are feeding. Mature grubs usually require at least 2 applications, 3 to 4 days apart.

Bayer Dylox 6.2 is the Standard for Curative Grub Control working in arid or rainy conditions. Dylox 6.2 provides fast-acting control of surface-feeding and soil insects, including white grubs, mole crickets, sod webworms, cutworms and armyworms. Not wasting any time, Dylox works immediately after irrigation or rainfall, and penetrates thatch up to 1/2-inch thick when watered properly, providing grub control within 24 hours. Under normal conditions, Dylox controls the pest and then degrades quickly. There are no Dylox restrictions regarding turf species or sites for landscape and recreational-area uses.

Details

Trichlorfon, the active ingredient in Dylox 6.2, is in the organophosphate class of chemistry. Organophosphate insecticides inhibit the breakdown of acetylcholine by cholinesterase, an enzyme that is essential in regulating the proper functioning of the insect nervous system. Dylox works by contact and ingestion. Contact activity provides quick knockdown, while ingestive activity ensures complete pest control.

    Don't do it!

    By Lou on 09/17/2012

    Verified Purchase

I bought this from Do My Own Pest Control and it didn't work. I followed the instructions. I called DMOPC and was told to call Bayer the maker of this product. I called Bayer and was told by a tech that DMOPC IS NOT on their distributor list. He also said internet companies sometime sell out of date products. I don't know if this is the case or not. All I do know that I still have active grubs. I am going to call customer care at DMOPC and see about a refund..

    Posting #2

    By Lou on 09/17/2012

    Verified Purchase

My last post i explained that the product didn't work for me. Which it didn't. I also mentioned that the Bayer company rep told me that sometimes internet companies have out dated product. I called customer care for DMOPC.com and explained everything to the rep. He offered me to try a different product at no charge to me or a refund. Whichever i wanted. Although this product didn't work for me i am glad that DMOPC does care about customers being satisfied. For that reason i would i highly recommend using Doyownpestcontrol.com I will use them again! They do care about customers!

    Better than nothing

    By Joe on 11/19/2011

This thing may have saved my lawn, but not by much. My lawn (St Augustine grass in central TX) was about 50% dead with actively feeding grubs when I decided to try Dylox - store bought brands were not working. I applied as recommended, with higher density application in test areas, just to see how well it worked. It is advertised to kill grubs in 24 hrs, but 4 days later, I still found plenty of actively feeding grubs, and the lawn was still dying, though at a slightly slowed pace. I would say Dylox is about 25% effective, better than nothing, but no miracle...

Q
It did not rain after I put down Dylox.

How long before the Dylox will go "stale" after I put it down? Forecast predicted rain, however that was not the case in the end. Will it go bad within a week or so? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

A
You really want to make sure Dylox is watered in within 24 hours of application for peak performance.

Q
What is the setting for a broadcast spreader?
A
We don't have the exact spreader setting for your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting for your needs is outlined below:

If you need to use 3lbs of product per 1,00 sq ft you would  add 3 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft).  If you have product left, your setting is too low.  If you run out of product, your setting is too high.  Typically if you walk at a normal pace and set the spreader at the middle setting, that is usually the right amount per 1000 square feet.

Q
does the use of dylox on your lawn help drive away moles?
A
Using Dylox will not directly get rid of your moles. When you have mold activity in your yard it can in part be due to a plentiful food supply. Moles will feed on grubs, worms and other similar insects living in your turf. Many people in conjunction with using products designed to either trap, kill, or repel moles, will use a product like Dylox to kill the grubs and insects the moles are feeding on. By removing their food source it helps deter them from your yard. For full information on how to eradicate moles from your residence, see our section on Mole Control.
