    Q
What's the difference between Demand CS and Suspend SC?
    A
Both products have an active ingredient that is classified as a synthetic pyrethroid, so they really are very similar in the way that they work.  Suspend SC contains the active ingredient deltamethrin and is a bit more versatile when it comes to bedbug treatments though as it can be sprayed on mattresses, carpets (spot treat only) and on furniture (crack and crevice only). Demand CS cannot. Demand CS contains the active ingredient lambda-cyhalothrin, and it is micro encapsulated which will make it last a little bit longer in outdoor applications.

    Q
Is Demand CS safe to use around children and pets?
What's the risk of transfer since Demand CS is capsulated? For instance, we have hardwood floors and we vacuum the floors and the baseboards. Can the insecticide be transferred from the vacuum to another surface (such as when vacuum rugs and couches) and increase the risk of contact?
    A
If you are applying the product correctly, it should only be in cracks and crevices and other closed off areas. There should not be any issues with transfer effect like you are speaking of.  Once you apply Demand CS, the tiny microscopic balls of insecticide will bond to porous surfaces and will not be removed by general cleaning or vacuuming.  You should allow 30 minutes after application for the product to dry before cleaning or allowing children and pets to re-enter the room.

    A
Absolutely.  Although stink bugs are not specifically on the label, the active ingredient Lambda Cyhalothrin in the Demand CS has shown great results on Stink Bugs. Many of our customers buy Demand CS for stinkbugs and the customer feedback has been great in regards to the results.

    Q
Should I mix Demand CS with Suspend SC and Gentrol?
I've seen the ability to mix Gentrol with either Demand or Suspend, but can all 3 be mixed? Seems this would offer the best combo for heavy knock down, lingering kill, and nymph control to potentially pyrethin resistant bed bugs. Also, can you confirm the pyrethrin resistance rumored in bed bug populations?
    A
There are indeed strains of bedbugs that are resistant to synthetic pyrethroid insecticides. Synthetic pyrethroids such as Suspend SC and Demand CS are the man-made versions of natural pyrethrin insecticides such as Exciter or Pyganic Pro. There is no valid reason to mix Suspend SC and Demand CS together, it would not make either product work better or produce better results, though it could make treated areas repellent to bedbugs lessening the effectiveness of the treatment. Both Demand CS and Suspend SC can be mixed with Gentrol IGR for a good knockdown and to break the growth cycle of the bedbugs and their eggs. If you do have a problem with a pyrethroid resistant bedbug population, you should use Phantom and Gentrol together. Phantom is not a pyrethroid, it is from a class of insecticides called pyrrole and there is no known resistance from bedbugs to this product. We also highly recommend that you use an aerosol with a straw attachment such as Phantom aerosol for the small cracks and crevices and a dust such as MotherEarth D for long lasting residual control.

    Q
What is the dilution per gallon as well as the outdoor coverage area for Demand CS for tick control?
If I fill my 2 gallon hand sprayer, what amount of Demand CS do I need to add? What kind of coverage can I typically get from it? I am spraying a section of my yard that is lightly wooded, no grass, mostly leaves and branches. I am solely concerned with controlling the tick population. I have read the booklet that came with the product but it is a little vague, ie outdoor surfaces. The Archer IGR is much more clear in its instructions. For Demand CS, I think I need to use 7.5 ml/gallon which should yield about 1500 sqft coverage. Does this sound correct? Thanks so much.
    A
You can use 0.2 fl.oz. (6mL),  0.4 fl.oz. (12mL). or 0.8 fl.oz. (24mL) of Demand CS per gallon of water. We recommend using the highest concentration for the initial treatment and then, depending on how bad the infestation is, you can use 0.2 - 0.4 fl oz for the monthly follow up treatments. According to the product label, this is the most effective way to treat for ticks using Demand CS: "To control nuisance ticks (e.g. dog ticks) apply to kennels, yards, runs, and other areas where pets may frequent. For best coverage to control ticks, apply using a coarse fan spray to vegetation brush, branches, rock walls, and other areas near habitation where ticks may harbor or frequent. Treat entire area rather than making spot treatments, and retreat as necessary to maintain control. Do not apply to pasture or cropland, and do not allow animals and people access to treated areas until the deposit has dried. Applications can be made on a monthly basis, beginning in the spring and can continue until frost to control both larvae and adult ticks"

    Q
How much Demand CS should I use per gallon of water?
    A
The final concentration will really depend on what pest you are treating for and where you are treating. You will add between 6ml-24ml per gallon of water. Please take a few minutes to read through the Demand CS product label to find the appropriate concentration for your needs.

    Q
How can I use Demand CS to help get rid of mosquitoes on my property?
Our lot is partially thickly wooded. When we sit outside at night, we have a mosquito problem. How do we apply Demand CS to protect us outdoors? Can you use Demand CS with a fogger or a garden hose measuring applier?
    A
Demand CS can be applied using just about any type of sprayer including a hose end sprayer. The hose end sprayer needs to be able to be calibrated to 0.8 fl.oz. (24mL) of product per gallon of water. A good choice would be the Chapin Hose End Sprayer 6005.  Mosquitoes must land on the treated areas to be killed so be sure you are spraying the areas where they are known to land such as the underside of the leaves on trees and shrubs. It is also helpful to spray a 2 ft wide band around the perimeter of your property to deter low flying mosquitoes from entering.

    Q
Is Demand CS better than Talstar P or Czymic CS when going after mosquitoes? What is the best bang for your buck.
    A

Cyzmic CS is the generic version of Demand CS at a lower cost.  Either of these will last longer than the Talstar P (up to 60-90 days vs 30 days) and offer a faster kill.

    Q
Do I need to plan my application of Demand CS around the rain?
We've had record rainfall the past week in my area with more rain on the way tomorrow, including flash flooding. What precautions should I take to avoid wasting my applications of Demand CS? Thanks.
    A
You should wait to apply Demand CS on a day when rain is not expected. The product cannot adhere to wet surfaces and rain would wash it away if the application had not had a chance to dry before the rain came. You should plan to have 24 hours without rain after the Demand CS application for best results.

    Q
What is the effect of Demand CS on the environment? Is it safe to use with young kids?
We have a farm and try to use only organic products and practices. We have very young children and pets who will be playing in the grass areas so we are very concerned with safety. Ticks and biting insects are a problem.
    A
Demand CS is not an organic product nor is it a natural product. Demand CS is a synthetic pyrethroid that will kill most insects that come into contact with treated surfaces. Demand CS does not last long in the environment, usually only about 4 weeks outdoors. Demand CS is safe to use on grasses and other non-edible vegetation where children or pets may play when used as directed on the product label. Children and pets should be out of the area while you are doing the application and they can safely return to the area after the product is dry. If you are not comfortable using a man-made product for ticks and other insects we do have a line of natural and organic products available on our website: Natural and Organic Insecticides.

    Q
Is Demand CS better than Phantom and Cyzmic CS for bedbugs?
    A
Cyzmic CS is the generic equivalent of Demand CS and works exactly the same for bedbug infestations. Phantom is a non-repellent insecticide that insects cannot detect and therefore readily walk over treated surfaces. Phantom is not a synthetic pyrethroid like Demand CS or Cyzmic CS and so far bedbugs have not shown any resistance to the active ingredient in Phantom. The one downside to Phantom is that it can take 7-10 days to kill the bedbugs that come into contact with treated areas and in that time period they can continue to bite and lay eggs. Demand CS and Cyzmic CS do have a faster kill rate than Phantom.

    Q
What's the main difference between Demand EZ and Demand CS?
I am intersted in killing household spiders, ants and roaches. Which product is for me? I would like the best result for the longest period of time at the cheapest price? Do you have a backpack style sprayer with the one arm pump.
    A
Demand CS and Demand EZ contain the same active ingredient, Lambda-Cyhalothrin and both are labeled for treating spiders, ants and roaches. Demand CS is applied every 90 days indoors and 30 days outdoors. Demand EZ uses a patented iCAP technology which means there is a coating over the substance that allows the insecticide to last up to six months without reapplying. The mix ratio for both is 0.8 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. Please refer to the product labels for more details on treatment areas.

    Q
Will the smell of Demand CS harm me or my pets?
The pest control company just sprayed the inside of my house. The smell is strong. Will it harm my pets or me? Will it kill roaches and pincher bugs?
    A
Once Demand CS is dry, it is usually safe for you and your pets to return to the treated area. If the smell is strong, you should open the windows for about an hour to ventilate the treated area. If you have any further concerns, you should contact the company that performed the treatment.

    Q
The best insecticide to kill pine bark bettles?
I submitted another question earlier, so this is a 2nd question. I have pine bark beetles from time to time. I have been spraying the trunk of the tree with Permethrin 36.5% as high as my sprayer goes - maybe 12-15 ft saturating the tree. Is this effective. (I just ordered another 32 oz bottle along with my Demand Cs order) Is this the best I can do?
    A
The best product for pine bark beetles is the Permethrin spray you have been using. The biggest key with this insect is timing to ensure the infestation doesn't get out of hand. Once the tree is infested there isnt much you can do other than chop down the tree and burn it to try and prevent the current live ones from getting into any neighboring trees.
