    Q
Do I need to plan my application of Demand CS around the rain?
We've had record rainfall the past week in my area with more rain on the way tomorrow, including flash flooding. What precautions should I take to avoid wasting my applications of Demand CS? Thanks.
    A
You should wait to apply Demand CS on a day when rain is not expected. The product cannot adhere to wet surfaces and rain would wash it away if the application had not had a chance to dry before the rain came. You should plan to have 24 hours without rain after the Demand CS application for best results.

    Q
ALL my cats got CHRONIC asthma from living in an apartment that was treated for bed bugs.
I am moving again for my cats since they have asthma. Now the roofs ongoing leak is causing my cats to have way worse than breathing difficulties. I am moving found a place..was treated for bed bugs 3 years ago so landlord says w this ...how long is it active.
    A
We recommend that you contact the landlord or the company that treated for the specific products that were applied. You then can check with the manufacturer of the products for safety and residual information. It would be a good idea to check with your local vet on what is safe for your cats and what is not with them having breathing issues.

  • Asked by Bruce from Birmingham, Al

    Q
Will Demand CS get rid of wasps around house?
    A
Demand CS is labeled for eradicating wasps. Concentrates are not considered to be contact kills, especially for wasps.  Even if you got close enough with a hand pump sprayer, which do not spray that far, the spray would not kill a wasp fast enough.  They would die, but not right away.  You can spray surfaces so when bees land on the surface they will pick up the spray and die, but they will not die right away.  The only product that provides a fast knockdown of larger flying insects like wasps and hornets is Wasp Freeze, which comes in an aeorosl can but it shoots over 15 feet so you can knock them down from a safe distance. Demand CS will leave a 30 day residual to the treated surfaces. Most folks do not want to have to spray down every bee or wasp in a nest with the wasp and hornet spray so they apply a dust such as Tempo Dust or Delta Dust which will knockdown even those insects that usually do not come out of the nest. The nests should be treated in the evening when the wasps are the least active for your safety.

    Q
Can you mix Demand CS and Transport Mikron together for application?
    A
There is no valid reason to mix Transport Mikron and Demand CS together, it would not make either product work better or produce better results, though it could make treated areas repellent to insects which lessening the effectiveness of the treatment. You should choose one product, read the product label and follow it closely.

  • Asked by Carl from Queen Creek, Az
    06/10/2015
    Q
I have been treating my home with Demand CS and Delta Dust; why am I still getting a lot of scorpions?
Any ideas on how to get rid of them???
    A
When treating for scorpions, the product needs to be sprayed in the area where they are. Generally speaking, scorpions are drawn to dry areas, and their main sources of food are usually small insects such as crickets and spiders. Keeping your home free of these insects will make it much less likely that scorpions will be a problem, so general pest control is always advisable. If they do get into your home, they are usually found in secluded dry areas such as closets and garages. They have also been known to hide in piles of clothes, particularly ones that have not been moved recently. Eliminating these hiding spaces will go a long way in making your other control efforts more effective. Because they are more susceptible to the negative effects of a scorpion sting, it is important to ensure that any area where your children and pets might play or live is treated thoroughly for these pests. Although, you should be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions on how long to separate them from the area after it has been treated. As always, feel free to e-mail or call us with any concerns or questions.

  • Asked by David from Prairie View, Texas

    Q
Will Demand CS get rid of millipedes in Texas?
    A

    First you want to

    • Repair cracks, crevices, and gaps around windows, doors, pipes and wires with sealant or caulk
    • Makes sure the screens and door sweeps on windows and doors are tight-fitting

Then you want to flush out the area with an adulticide like:

CB Air Devil HPX is a cypermethrin residual contact kill aerosol that HPX is specially formulated to clear out large numbers of target insects fast, and provides up to 3 months of protection. For treatment of millipedes, spray CB Air Devil around doors and windows and other areas where millipedes may be found or where they may enter premises. Spray baseboards, storage areas and other locations. Repeat as necessary.

Next you want to do the perimeter treatment indoors and out.

Demand CS, and Suspend SC, are residual liquid formulation pesticides that are added to water and applied with a low-pressure sprayer can provide a powerful residual that continues working for 4 to 8 weeks following application. These residual liquid formulations can be sprayed along the outside perimeter of the home (especially under and around eaves, decks, patios, and window shutters), and inside along baseboards, in cracks and crevices, and other potential millipede harborages. You will know the residual is working because you will begin finding only dead millipedes rather than live ones.

    Q
Will Demand CS get rid of bird mites?
    A

Demand CS is labeled for mites in general across a lawn only.

Here is our best advice on mite control:

It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with mites. Have the suspected mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for mites.  If you do indeed have mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead rodent on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use Cimexa Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust.Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs. We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

    Q
Can I use Demand CS as foam application? Can it be mixed with a foaming agent?
    A

Demand CS can be converted to a foam and mixed with a foaming agent for treating wall voids. We do carry a Chapin Poly Foamer that you could mix Demand CS, water and a foaming agent and disperse per product label instructions.

    Q
Over the last few months, we have killed 3 Texas Desert Centipedes in our house. What is the best product to treat for them?
We do have an exterminator spray outside once a quarter and inside twice a year, but still we are seeing these centipedes. Also the product needs to be safe for my cats. A friend recommended Demand CS. Is this what you would recommend?
    A

Demand CS would be a good choice to use around the inside and outside of your home to eliminate centipedes. Suspend SC is safe for people and pets when used as directed on the product label.  Indoors you can apply Suspend SC to door frames, window frames, places where utilities enter into the structure, and any other place where the insects can gain entry. Outdoors you should apply the product to door frames, window frames, places where utilities enter into the structure, around the bottom of the foundation and out onto the ground directly around the foundation. You can also limit favorable conditions that the centipedes need to thrive.

    Remove Favorable Conditions

    • Fix leaky faucets or pipes and dry up wet or damp areas where centipedes thrive
    • Remove outdoor harborages near the home that hold moisture (compost, wood, or leaf piles, etc).
    • Store firewood off the ground at least 20 feet away from the home
    • Water your lawn in the morning so that it will be dry by afternoon
    • Do not over mulch flower beds, since soggy mulch is an ideal harborage for centipedes

What pesticide is best for cluster flies outdoors?

Demand CS would be a great choice. It is labeled for Cluster Flies and besides using it around the perimeter of your home, you should apply it around window frames, door frames and other entry points where Cluster Flies gather. Please be sure to follow the label instructions.

  • Asked by Caroline from West Virginia

    Q
Does Demand CS NOT work for yellow jackets?
I'm wondering whether this is the wrong pesticide, or if the bottle I have is expired. Been spraying the stuff into place where many, many yellow jackets are entering and exiting (I think they must have a nest inside a pipe on the side of our house), as well as spraying directly on the insects, and it has zero effect. Scores of healthy yellow jackets before, during, and after spraying! I've never seen an insecticide sprayed directly on insects that didn't seem to affect them at all. Bewildered. Any suggestions?
    A

Demand CS should kill Yellow Jackets after they come in contact with it, however it is not specifically labeled for them. This would not be our number one recommendation for Yellow Jackets because it can take some time to kill them. Please check out our article "How to Get Rid of Yellow Jackets". If you can get to the openings where the yellow jackets are coming in and out from, we highly recommend applying a dust like Tempo 1% Dust and when the yellow jacket comes in contact with it, the dust will transfer from yellow jacket to yellow jacket and kill off the entire nest.

  • Asked by Bianca from Toronto, Ontario
    09/29/2015
    Q
How do I safely clean up Demand CS that has been sprayed on the floor instead of in cracks/crevices?
We used Demand CS to control carpet beetles but we incorrectly sprayed the product along the floor, about a foot from the wall, around the entire perimeter of our condo (rather then just using as a crack/crevice treatment). What is the best way to clean our floor to remove the product? We are concerned about our little dog walking on the product.
    A

Demand CS can be wiped up with hot water and soap. The product is safe for your dog even if over sprayed on the floor after it has completely dried.
