    Q
I ordered Demize EC for flea control. I have four cats indoors, plus outside cats that live under my porch, is this product going to do the job?
    A
Demize EC is a great choice for flea control because it kills all stages of fleas.  It is also very safe for use around pets.  However, if you have a bad infestation, we highly recommend adding its counterpart, NyGuard IGR.  Adding the NyGuard IGR, will provide long term control and slow down the fleas ability to reproduce which will provide quicker results.

    Q
Hello, is Demize EC a good product to use indoor to spray ticks? Any recommendations?
    A
Demize EC is not labeled for tick control. We recommend the items that come in out Tick Control Kit.

The Tick Control Kit provides you with the professional products necessary to control ticks in and around your home. Unlike other kits you may find, the Do My Own Pest Control kits contain the most effective products available based on the most current research. This kit contains 1 quart (32 oz.) bottle of Permethrin SFR 36.8% and 1 pint (16 oz.) bottle of Archer IGR. Please read below for more information.

Permethrin SFR is a broad spectrum insecticide that offers a quick knockdown of target pests as well as a long lasting residual that lasts for about 90 days indoors and 30 days outdoors. This product may be used indoors and outdoors on turf, lawns, and ornamentals.

Archer IGR is an Insect Growth Regulator that is also photo-stable, meaning that it does not break down easily in direct sunlight. You can use Archer IGR to control insect populations both indoors and outdoors. The Archer IGR unique mode of action disrupts the life cycle of ants, fleas, flies, ticks, cockroaches, mosquitoes and beetles leading to effective population control.

    Q
Can I add Premethrin SFR to Demize EC and Precor IGR
While I used Demize EC and Precor IGR, it knocked fleas down during the minutes Demize was wet on a hardwood floor, the fleas came back within hours full force and vacuuming every day to reduce it is not helping much as each round catches over 25 adult fleas alive, although they seem to be getting smaller in sizes. I understand Premethrin has a residual that will continue to kill these young adult fleas for up to two weeks after a spray as the fleas walk across/in the areas such as cracks i sprayed. Could I simply add Premethrin to the Demize EC/Precor IGR mixture or does Premethrin have such as fast knockdown there is no point to Demize being used with it during a single spray of 1000sq ft?
    A
Mixing Demize EC + Precor + Permethrin SFR would be a great idea. You will have the quick knockdown of Demize EC, plus residual power of Permethrin SFR, Plus residual IGR power. Be sure to follow the label instructions for mixing.

    Q
How long should I wait before letting my young children back in the house after spraying Demize?
I would assume that it needs to simply dry first, but I couldn't find any information on the contaner or the website that answers my question.
    A
You are correct! You want to wait until the treated area has dried. This will normally take approx 1-2 hours.

    Q
How long should I wait to vacuum after the carpets are treated with Demize EC?
I want to make sure I am giving the chemical enough time to work, but I don't want to stop vacuuming. How often should I vacuum after a treatment? Daily?
    A
We would recommend waiting until Demize EC is dry before continuing to vacuum. If you are treating for fleas, you will vacuum daily for 14 days and then do a second treatment and continue to vacuum daily.

    Q
In the past I used Precor or Nylar Demize. Will these work with bed bugs and roaches?
It killed and control fleas , spiders, etc..
    A
Demize EC and Precor IGR are only labeled for fleas and would not work for roaches or bed bugs.  For bed bugs we would recommend one of our Bed Bug Control kits here.  Which kit you choose depends on the number of rooms you need to treat.  For roaches we would recommend Roach Control Kit #1 be used along with the products in the bed bug kit you choose.

    Q
Will one application of Demize EC work to kill a flea infestation?
    A

Demize EC kills all stages or fleas on contact only and will not leave any residual that will continue to kill after it has tried, so one application will not completely eliminate fleas.  Mixing Demize EC + NyGuard IGR + Onslaught would be a great idea. You will have the quick knockdown of Demize EC, plus residual power of Onslaught, plus residual IGR power. Be sure to follow the label instructions for mixing.  Please read over our "How to Get Rid of Fleas" article as well for further advice.

    Q
Is Demize EC safe for tarantulas and bearded dragons?
I have a flea infestation, but want to be mindful of my bearded dragon and tarantula while treating for them. Both are in enclosures at least 3' off the ground. Will this harm them if sprayed on the floor and baseboards?
    A

Demize EC has been discontinued and is no longer available.  Any animals would need to be completely out of treated areas during treatment until dry, it would be recommended to keep them out for at least a few hours after.

Please view our Indoor Flea Kit and Flea Treatment Guide for information on eliminating fleas indoors. We would also recommend contacting your Vet or Entomologist with the County Extension Office for their advise or recommendations.
