    Q
    Demon vs. Demon Max?
I have been using Demon around my yard and home the past 2 years, but I am wondering which would be more effective for overall bug control. I would like to be sure that I am blocking out termites at the same time too.
    A
Both products contain the same active ingredient, but the Demon Max is at a higher concentration.  Also, the Demon Max is a liquid and the normal Demon is a powder.  The powder can leave a white residue where the liquid will not as much.  For treating yards, the Demon Max liquid would be a better way to go and will last a little longer in the sun.  Both are great products, but if we had to choose, we would say the Demon Max is the better of the two.

    Q
Does Demon Max repel pests as well as kill them?
I want to keep the wasps and yellow jackets away.
    A

In general, there really isn't such a thing as a spray that will repel wasps, or most insects, other than the ones designed specifically for mosquitoes and gnats. Demon Max does have a slightly higher repellency to its formulation due to it being oil based, but most insecticides work by being sprayed on surfaces the insects land on frequently so they can pick it up on their bodies and die from it.

    Q
Can Demon Max be used on roses to kill aphids?
    A

Demon Max is not labeled to be used on roses and does not kill or control aphids. We recommend Sevin which can be used to control many species of aphids on roses.

    Q
Can Demon Max be used inside to kill moths?
    A

Demon Max can only be used in cracks and crevices and along baseboards inside.  If the moths are coming from these areas it could kill those that contact the treated areas only.

    Q
What should I do now that I treated my couch with Demon Max? What happens with overapplication?
I sprayed 2 times in the same 24 hrs. I sprayed my entire couch so do I have to throw out the couch? I was finding ticks in my couch because the dogs would sometimes sleep on my couch.
    A

Demon Max is not to be applied on surfaces that come in contact with the skin or on the surface area of the couch. Please contact the manufacturer for instructions on the treatment/cleaning of the couch. They can be reached at 866.796.4368.

We recommend the following for treatment of ticks:

Make sure the property around your home is unattractive to ticks. Because ticks are sensitive to dry conditions and do not thrive in short vegetation, they are seldom a problem in well-maintained lawns. Keep your grass mowed and keep weeds cut. Clean up items that attract rodents which can carry ticks, such as spilled birdseed, and hiding places like old wood piles. If ticks are present in vegetation along the edge of the property, insecticides labeled for control of ticks can be applied to small areas of high weeds that cannot be mowed. Often, one or two applications per season will be adequate to control ticks in these areas.

Free-roaming dogs and cats are much more likely to encounter ticks than those that are confined to the home or yard. If ticks are found on pets, contact your veterinarian for information about an appropriate tick treatment. Remove the occasional tick found indoors by vacuuming, seal the vacuum bag and place it in the trash. Owners of kennels or homes infested with the brown dog tick may wish to contact a professional pest control company for assistance.

    Q
Can Demon Max be used in interior and exterior?
Will Demon Max work on crazy ants?
    A

Yes, Demon Max is labeled for interior and exterior use and it can be used to control ants, including crazy ants, that come in contact with the treated area. You should try to treat the colony or nesting site directly. Crazy Ant mounds are not readily visible above ground. Possible nesting sites for Crazy Ants include: soil beneath landscape timbers, logs, mulch firewood and other debris. Crazy Ants may also nest inside rotting wood and tree holes. You can read our article on crazy ants for more treatment information: How to Get Rid of Crazy Ants.

    Q
Can I use Demon Max inside the house? I bought an old home and I don't know if there are termites in it.
Can I use Demon Max inside the house? I bought an old home and I don't know if there are termites in it. Also, there are a lot of spiders there too that I want to get rid of. Also, when is the best time to apply for termites and spiders? The house is in Missouri and I would like to treat it now but it is very cold here. Would that be beneficial?
    A

While Demon Max will kill most termites and spiders that contact it, this would not be our recommendation for termite control. Please see our Termite Guide.  Demon Max can be applied indoors to cracks and crevices. Please be aware since it's oil based it may leave an oily residue. You can always treat indoors. Outdoors, if the ground is frozen, or temps are below freezing or around freezing, it may be best to wait.

    Q
Does Demon Max kill gnats on contact? Or does this product leave a residual?
    A

Demon Max can have some knockdown properties, but it is not considered a contact kill product. It is a residual insecticide that once dry will last on the surface 90 days indoors and 30 days outdoors. However, this product is not labeled for gnats. You could use a product like Talstar P. You may want to look over our article on Getting Rid of Gnats for more information.

    Q
Is Demon Max a good product to use for mole cricket control? If so, what is a good surfactant to use with the product?
    A

For residential lawns, apply Demon Max at the rate of 0.33-0.65 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft in a volume of water sufficient for uniform coverage such as 3-20 gal for mole crickets. Use the lower rate to knock down pests and the higher rate where faster knockdown or greater residual is desired. The maximum application rate on lawns and other turfgrass is 0.44 lb ai/A (0.0101 lb ai/1,000 sq ft). Lawn should not be longer than 3 inches at the time of application. You can add a surfactant to the mixture for more effective results.

    Q
How long does Demon Max last as a termiticide?
    A

Demon Max would bond to the soil for up to 5 years.  While it is labeled to be used in a trench application for termite control, it is not a recommended product to treat and/or prevent termites.  Demon Max will only kill termites that contact treated areas, it is not able to be transferred throughout the colony to eradicate an entire colony.  Taurus SC or Termidor SC are the products of choice for subterranean termite treatment.  They will bond to the soil for up to 10 years and are able to be transferred throughout the colony by the affected termites to eradicate the entire colony.
