    Q
Can Demon Max be used around Chickens?
I have treated my landscape cracks and crevices for cockroaches. This treatment produced hundreds of dead or dying bugs, which I have cleaned up. Would it be safe to allow our chickens to roam around again? My fear is they may still find a dead bug and eat it. Would this hurt them?
    A

Demon Max is not labeled for use in poultry houses or animal grazing areas, so we would not recommend allowing birds in the area where it has been applied. A similar product that is labeled for use in poultry houses is Talstar P. Please review the SDS for Demon Max for toxicity information.

  • Asked by Mike from Az

    Q
Does Demon Max stand up to desert heat?
Will it break down quickly like Bifen does under strong UV rays? Looking for an exterior product that will last at least 30 days under extreme 100+ degree heat.
    A

It will be difficult for any product to last over 30 days in extreme heat and direct sunlight, however, we would recommend an encapsulated product for the longest residual. Demon Max has an oil base, while the Bifen IT is a water-based insecticide (Bifen XTS is oil-based). It may last a bit longer than Bifen IT, but would have similar residual to Bifen XTS. Great options for longer residual in more severe weather would be either Suspend Polyzone or Cyzmic CS.

    Q
    Does Demon Max cause staining?
Have a scorpion problem in West Texas. Need a recommendation for oil based, long lasting product that does not stain as our home is adobe and want to apply outside and inside.
    A

Demon Max is an oil based product labeled mostly for use outdoors, with labeling for cracks and crevices indoors.  Demon Max can cause staining because of the oil base that it contains.  If you are looking for scorpion control for your home you could use Demand CS, Cy-Kick CS or Onslaught FastCap.

Will Demon Max work on crazy ants?
    A

Yes, Demon Max is labeled for interior and exterior use and it can be used to control ants, including crazy ants, that come in contact with the treated area. You should try to treat the colony or nesting site directly. Crazy Ants may also nest inside rotting wood and tree holes. You can read our article on crazy ants for more treatment information: How to Get Rid of Crazy Ants.

    Q
    Will Demon Max kill honeybees?
    A

Demon Max is not really selective, so it could potentially harm benificial insects such as bees and butterflies.  To minimize this risk, apply in the early morning or in the evening when they are least active, and avoid applying directly to any blooms.

    Q
Is Demon Max ok to use on the farm for fly control?
    A

Demon Max can be used to treat for flies outside around barns, however it cannot be used in grazing/pasture areas or in any building occupied by animals that are used for food purposes or which product products for human consumption (such as dairy cows, egg-producing chickens, etc.). We recommend using a combination of products including fly baits, fly traps, sprays, and also animal treatment products as needed for fly control. If you would like to tell us more about the specific areas you need to treat, then we can better assist you.

  • Asked by Rod from Manitowoc, Wi
    04/10/2019
    Q
Does Demon Max kill gnats on contact? Or does this product leave a residual?
    A

Demon Max can have some knockdown properties, but it is not considered a contact kill product. It is a residual insecticide that once dry will last on the surface 90 days indoors and 30 days outdoors. However, this product is not labeled for gnats. You could use a product like Talstar P. You may want to look over our article on Getting Rid of Gnats for more information.

    Q
    Does Demon Max kill springtails?
There's a house it's been built on top of a concrete slab with springtails inside. Problems killing them. They leave after I spray but are back in a couple weeks.
    A

Demon Max can be used for springtails but it only kills those that contact at treated area.  It does not repel them or keep them away.  Springtails thrive on excess moisture so eliminating any issues is key to successful elimination.

  • Asked by Erik from Brooklyn, Ny
    12/17/2019
    Q
How long do I need to be out of the premises after spraying with Demon Max?
I read the instructions wrong and have mixed 5.1 fl oz to 1gallon water, and used it to spray around full apartment in every crevice, nook, cranny, pipe, board, outlet, etc. you can think of. How long now should I wait until it dissipates out of the apartment? I used it for roaches and bedbugs on recommendation from superintendent the Demon Max 25%. I used 80% of that 1 gallon solution on about a 900 sq ft apartment.
    A

The maximum rate for general insects using Demon Max is 1 oz per gallon of water, per the product label, depending on the target pest.  It is only used at 5.1 fl oz per gallon for a 1% emulsion for maximum control and protection against subterranean termite infestation. Using too much may cause pests to avoid the area rather than coming into contact with the application. We encourage you to wipe off any spray you’ve done, and re-apply at 1 oz per gallon for better results. You may re-apply every 30-90 days.

  • Asked by Rebecca from Laredo, Tx
    02/18/2020
    Q
Will Demon Max or Demon WP harm the roots of my palm trees if I saturate the soil around the tree?
My palm trees have been infested with termites and I want to spray the tree, but I also read the soil should be saturated around the tree. Is it safe to use Demon Max or Demon WP to saturate the soil around the tree after spraying the tree?
    A

You cannot use Demon Max or Demon WP to drench for termites around palms, trees, or other plants. This product should not harm ornamental plants, but this is an off-label use and we could not tell you it would be effective. Demon Max can be used to spot treat directly into termite galleries in trees. You would have better success with a non-repellent termiticide, though, such as Termidor Foam, since this product has an active ingredient that will transfer throughout the termite colony.

    Q
Why isn't Demon Max working? I followed the exact instructions. I even sprayed it a lot in the kitchen
and NOTHING, roaches went away for a week then came back I am so disappointed.
    A

Demon Max only kills those roaches that contact a treated area and should not be used alone for an effective roach treatment for this reason.  Not all roaches come out of hiding to contact where you have sprayed.  You should only spray along baseboards and in cracks and crevices when using inside.

One of our roach control kits would be recommended for roach control. These professional kits includes non-staining, low odor concentrated insecticide for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc. You'll also get Roach Bait Gel to help get rid of those roaches that like to hide. Baits can be applied up high in the kitchen in the corner of cabinets and in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. The bait contains a slow-acting poison that attracts and kills feeding roaches, who also spread the bait to other roaches by contact or by sharing food. Finally, an Insect Growth Regulator is offered which will stop roaches from laying eggs, helping to halt the infestation. The combination of an IGR with roach bait is a highly effective roach control strategy that is widely used by pest control professionals. The insecticide must be applied with a 1 gallon pump sprayer.

Here is a link to a great article that really goes into depth in explaining a roach control program.

    Q
What IGR can you mix with Demon Max and Exciter?
What IGR can you mix with those and what would the ratios be?
    A

Demon Max can be applied with any IGR. However, NyGuard IGR is a great one to mix with the Demon Max. The rate for each would be 3 - 8 mL of Nyguard, 1.3 - 5.1 oz. of Demon Max, and 1 oz of Exciter to 1 gallon of water per 1000 sq ft.

  • Asked by Jason from Fort Lauderdale, Florida
    09/23/2013
    Q
Was it ok to treat my couch with Demon Max? I used an IGR in the mix as well.
I still have been seeing ticks even though I treat all the baseboards, carpets, corners, crevices, couches, door frames, etc. How effective is this treatment and when should I reapply? Can I over-apply? I need some real help with these dog ticks.
    A
Demon Max is not to be applied on the surface of couch or other surface areas where there is contact with the skin. It is only to be applied in cracks and crevices. It can be applied every 3 months for indoor control and 30 day outdoor control. If applied sooner than the recommended time, it could result in over application which may change the results you are seeking. Make sure the property around your home is unattractive to ticks. Because ticks are sensitive to dry conditions and do not thrive in short vegetation, they are seldom a problem in well-maintained lawns. Keep your grass mowed and keep weeds cut. Clean up items that attract rodents which can carry ticks, such as spilled birdseed, and hiding places like old wood piles. If ticks are present in vegetation along the edge of the property, insecticides labeled for control of ticks can be applied to small areas of high weeds that cannot be mowed. Often, one or two applications per season will be adequate to control ticks in these areas. Free-roaming dogs and cats are much more likely to encounter ticks than those that are confined to the home or yard. If ticks are found on pets, contact your veterinarian for information about an appropriate tick treatment. Remove the occasional tick found indoors by vacuuming, seal the vacuum bag and place it in the trash. Owners of kennels or homes infested with the brown dog tick may wish to contact a professional pest control company for assistance.
