Demon WP contains one of the most effective active ingredients for roach control, and it should work just fine for most roach infestations. If you have a current infestation however, insecticide sprays alone may not be enough. It is recommended that you use an IGR such as Gentrol to help halt the breeding process and a roach bait such as Advion Roach Bait Gel to help eliminate the roaches in places that cannot be sprayed. We have both of these products available in a our Roach Control Kit #1. If you want to try a different spray insecticide, Phantom would be a good choice. Phantom is an insecticide that kills cockroaches (and many other pests) through a powerful non-repellent, transferable active ingredient. Pests cant even detect Phantom, so they walk right over it and then spread it to other insects hidden behind walls or in their home colony, killing other pests they come in contact with. The one draw back to Phantom is that pests can take around a week to die after coming into contact with treated surfaces.
Sanitation also plays a key role in roach infestations. Even the best products on the market cannot over come poor sanitation. Please read the following article to learn some hints and tips on sanitation : Cockroach Quick Tips
While Demon WP is labeled for ants, it will only kill the ants that contact a treated surface and you can continue to see them eve after treatment. Demon WP can be used to treat the crazy ant infestation in the yard. You should try to treat the colony or nesting site directly. Crazy Ant mounds are not readily visible above ground. Possible nesting sites for Crazy Ants include: soil beneath landscape timbers, logs, mulch firewood and other debris. Crazy Ants may also nest inside rotting wood and tree holes. You can read our article on crazy ants for more treatment information: How to Get Rid of Crazy Ants.
If you are cleaning after you spray then you are rendering the product ineffective as you are wiping up everything you just put down. You should be cleaning first and then spraying with the product lightly over the baseboards and areas you need to treat. Once the surfaces have dried completely it is not harmful to pets or children and they will not pick the chemical up on their bodies or be affected by it by crawling over it. Since Demon is a WP (wettable powder) and it dries with a powdery substance on the surface, you may want to think about swapping to something that dries clear and doesnt sit on the surface like the Demon does. Something like Temprid SC would be a great option for that for a variety of pests and is safe once dry as well.
When using insecticides, it is important that you use proper precautions, such as a respirator mask. Demon WP is a chemical and has the potential to be dangerous if the label is not followed properly. We would recommend contacting the manufacturer and/or Poison Control immediately if you feel as if something is not right.
